An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedHow about we all stop being ageists and focus instead on personality and attraction? I turned 51 last year. If you look at me you would guess that I'm in my late 30s. I have talked to a lot of guys on Grindr who have the "my age" phrase in their profile. After they see that I'm a great guy and they like me I tell them how hold I am. They're always shocked. I don't care how old someone is. If I'm attracted to them that's all that matters. I know a lot of older guys who get depressed over the rejection they experience. It's a horrible way to live.
Howie supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedThis is a very shortsighted suggestion. It totally relegates older guys into second class people. This should not be implemented.

An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedThis is dumb. Don't do this. I can see it being abused a lot.
An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedYou should re-word this suggestion as: "Allow scammers to fake their location in order to fool us". This is the dumbest idea I have seen posted here other than the morons who whine about people using the gender and pronoun fields to be funny. If someone decides to stalk me and use Grindr to track my location, they better be well armed because I will be very mean to them. Location should be turned on by default. Why? Because of scammers! In case something bad happens I also screenshot photos and profiles so I can identify people who did something bad to me. When you use a social app like this, privacy is important, but your security is your own responsibility, not Grindr's.

An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedCan't we just mute our phones in public, or just turn off the audible notification? I keep my iPhone muted at all times. I don't like having any audible notifications. My Apple Watch provides the notification by tapping my wrist. No one can hear it, and it's easily ignored if I'm too busy to check my messages.

An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedI like this idea but they took away the ethnicity filter. So, if I was looking for Pacific Islanders, I can't find them. I just have to wait until I stumble on one.
An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedTaking this away from us is just the developer of Grindr giving in to social justice BS. There is nothing racist about being attracted to certain races any more than it being wrong to be attracted to someone because they're muscular, or skinny, chubby, hairy, etc. It's the same as liking the look of some products over others. Personally, there are no races that I don't find attractive, but if given a choice, there are some that I would choose over others. I'm not racist because of this. I just know what looks I am attracted to. It's really that simple. When I see someone's profile that self righteously says something like "If you have a race preference don't talk to me", I just block them and move on. I don't have time for that crap. Unfortunately the gay community is full of racists, just like all of the others. There are also a lot of guys who are ageists, and guys who fetishize certain types of men. Grindr cannot fix that, so it's best not to try.

An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedI just ignore this field. It should be obvious to anyone with a brain what pronouns I prefer. This is the dumbest thing to have in a profile. I don't like being told before I have even spoken to someone how I am supposed to address them. If someone gets offended because I used the wrong pronoun, that's their problem. I would not want to talk to someone or meet them if they're one of those "triggered" types who live their life constantly being offended by others. I think the pronoun discussion should happen in a conversation, not in a profile.
An error occurred while saving the comment Howie commentedI think you should just ignore this and get over it. It’s not right to force others to conform to your opinions about what is appropriate. You can’t change other people’s views with a gender pronoun. You change them with your behavior.
Right. It is bullshit. I'm an unlimited member. So the $30 I pay each month doesn't include this feature? That's horse shit! Here's a great way to get yourself boosted. Change one of your photos. Then puts you in the "Fresh" section for a while and you will get a lot of profile views (if guys find you interesting). I do that a lot. I change a photo and then all of a sudden I start getting more views, more taps and more messages without paying another $10.
