Require Profile Photos: Ban Blank Profiles
Blank profiles ruin the user experience and create major safety risks. Requiring every account to have at least one valid profile picture will eliminate ghost profiles, cut down on bots/spammers, and significantly help protect against underage users trying to stay hidden on the app.

Remove "TAP" Feature!
Taps often feel lazy, impersonal, and lead to accidental clicks while scrolling through the grid or viewing profiles. They create unnecessary notification clutter without fostering genuine interaction, as many users prefer receiving an actual message rather than a generic tap.
Replacing Taps with a requirement to send a direct message—or at least adding an option in privacy settings to disable receiving taps—would significantly improve user experience, reduce accidental interactions, and encourage more meaningful conversations.

Generic Notifications
We already have the option for a Discreet App Icon, which is chef's kiss. We need a setting where you can make notifications generic, too. That way we can know someone's messaging us, but the entire world doesn't have to know it's from Grindr

Make gender identities searchable
Grindr offers a huge variety of gender identities that users can select to describe themselves. However, those same identities are not available as search criteria.
For example, a user can identify as Queer/Cuir, Non-binary, Gender Fluid or Gender Non-Conforming, but cannot specifically search for people who identify in those ways.
At the same time, Grindr includes “Trans” under Tribes and allows users to search for that category. This raises a question of consistency: why is “Trans” treated differently from other gender identities?

I paid for a year of unlimited. I still have to see ads Grindr shoves onto my feed and my inbox. Don’t get me started on Madonna.
What did I pay nearly $300 for? There’s still ads, and you charge for boosts?!

My biggest problem with the app is how the album feature works. Sometimes someone refuses to show me their album, maybe because I'm not their type or because they know me personally, but they still get to look at mine if i shared first. This feels very unfair. It would be much better and fairer if the app had a rule where nobody can open my album unless they have also shared their album with me first.
