6. For You forces you to pay extra to message people who fit the profile you interact with

   For You effectively profiles ‘your type,’ removes them from your grid, and forces you to upgrade to Unlimited in order to message them.

   The feature doesn’t respect distance: even if they’re right next to you, with Xtra, you can’t message them if they appear in your For You.

   This is beyond scummy and driving me to cancel my Xtra subscription.

   Go incognito from all the broke escorts, the only fans whores, the fake accounts and the bots. I’ll see fifteen photos of someone similar within 20 miles. Grindr doesn’t care about the community it’s more about the money. I have to go incognito 96% of the day so someone doesn’t creep. I will be canceling my membership and not coming back. 12. Maybe don’t try to charge for every single thing like you are right now?

    So your master plan in improving this app is to restrict just about every single feature so people are forced to pay for Xtra? This is how you drive people AWAY from your app, not towards it. It’s literally becoming as gimmicky as Tinder now. If I get banned for this, that proves you’re willingly ignorant of how to deal with your client base and only want money until it runs out to your shock and horror.

    It would be cool where with just like an album, you can see who you’ve shared your location with in the past and revoke it from one interface. You could just click on people from a list to unsend locations that way rather than having to go into each chat and unsending one by one. Useful in case you send a home or other location that would be sensitive and you can’t recall who you sent it to.

    The lack of mandatory or effective verification means the app is crawling with automated spam accounts and fake profiles stealing other people's photos. Users never truly know if the person they are talking to actually exists.

    The free version is nearly unusable due to constant full-screen video ads and pop-ups that interrupt conversations mid-sentence. Large ad banners cut up the grid and ruin the entire user flow.

    Greedy paywalls:

    The app has locked basic features behind extremely expensive subscriptions. Users are forced to pay steep monthly fees for simple things like using basic search filters, viewing more than just a few profiles nearby, or checking who is actually online.

    The pricing on your subscription tiers is far beyond what most people can reasonably afford. Xtra was already expensive, but the new Edge pricing is on another level entirely. How does $150 per month or $330 per quarter on sale, and $350 per month or $770 per quarter regular price, make sense?

    To put that into perspective:

    • Paying monthly comes out to $1,800 per year on sale or $4,200 per year at regular price.
    • Paying quarterly still totals $1,320 per year on sale or $3,080 per year at regular price.

    For comparison, as of July 2nd, Grindr stock closed at $16.06. Someone could buy 100 shares of Grindr for life for $1,606 — which is still cheaper than one year of Edge at the “sale” monthly rate.

    These prices exceed many people’s insurance premiums, car payments, and even some rent or mortgage costs. I doubt most Grindr employees could comfortably afford these subscription levels. With so many people struggling to keep a roof over their head, put gas in their car, and buy groceries, this pricing feels completely disconnected from real-world economic conditions.

    Please reevaluate your pricing strategy. Your marketing and pricing teams need a reality check on what users can actually afford while maintaining company profitability. There should be a pricing level for Grindr to be highly successful while not gauging or taking loyal customers for granted. Additionally, making it more affordable may provide you the same level or greater levels of profitability by volume. Thank you for your consideration and time.

20. Showing profiles nearby that are 40+ miles away

    Randomly, peppered throughout my "nearby" feed are profiles that are, in fact, NOT nearby....by any stretch. There are regularly profiles that are 40+ miles away, right next to profiles that are 3 miles away, 10 miles away, some that are less than 1 mile away.
