An error occurred while saving the comment Anon Feedback commentedThis is exactly why we need age verification. This 17 year old just stated he allegedly had a conversation with his cop uncle who told him it’s okay to be on Grindr. It’s not. Not only is it against the TOS for using the app, but it presents several other issues including these two main points:
1) When the 17yo shares or receives a nude (federal law applies, not state). That can land someone in prison for a long time. Do not confuse age of consent with 2257/age of majority for nudity.
2) Instances where minors are on the app places the app at risk for being removed from Google/Apple store, and we all suffer. In addition to the Grindr’s TOS, the app stores have their own TOS, which doesn’t care about age of consent—they care about child p laws and 2257 compliance.

Grindr MUST take action to validate its users for the safety of the grid! If it does not, the government will likely step in and pass legislation that may enforce more expensive or less ideal verification methods. It’s in Grindr’s best interest to protect users right now. Why are we even debating this?

An error occurred while saving the comment Anon Feedback commentedA gender filter is NECESSARY and NOT discriminatory for two reasons; (1) it helps marginalized users find people they are most comfortable with and (2) it allows the grid to find people they are actually interested in meeting. Let’s make this happen!

I pay for unlimited at $340 USD per year! I just can’t justify it anymore. So many spam messages and the inability to filter out trans profiles (not my tea, but you do you).
I’m switching to sniffies.com and cancelling Grindr unlimited because Sniffies is significantly less expensive and easier to find guys.
