   • Chats often stall because one side has to ask for basic photos.
   • Discreet users worry about screenshots or someone photographing their phone.

   Idea
   • Require at least one visible face/body photo in the main grid.
   • Add a “privacy light” layer: in-app pics can’t be screenshotted. If another device’s camera points at the screen, the image whites out (using screen-door pattern or light-sensor trigger).

   Benefits
   • Faster, safer matches → less spam, ghosting, catfish.
   • Protects discreet users without hiding them.
   • Differentiates Grindr from rivals.

13. Blocking Is A Safety Concern

    Changing Block to Hide and now making even Hiding a paid feature poses a considerable safety risk on a platform already plagued by bad faith actors.

    I have been sexually assaulted by a hookup in my hometown before and I know for a fact he makes new profiles. Now thanks to your changes if I were to identify a profile as his I would have to interact with him enough to get Hide to change to Block which in my experience so far is unreliable (in multiple cases I have been unable to block profiles with which I have had conversations).

    Additionally, I work in college education and have from time to time relied on Block to pre-emptively block students.

    Grindr doesn't care about user safety. If it did, safety wouldn't be a premium feature. Grindr cares about fleecing an endangered subculture for a quick buck while working to promote an image that it is the only option for community and connection especially in areas where that subculture is an even smaller, more endangered and targeted minority... Basically Grindr provides even its illusion of "safety" now only mid-mugging.

    There are plenty of males out there lambasting bottoms about douching before anal sex but that ignores the basic fact that the butt is where poop comes out by design. Frequent douching will permanently damage guts and may not result in the desired cleanliness, defeating the purpose. Rather than to address this subject with soap bar emojis and menacing expectations, I propose that Grindr deliver resources to help bottoms improve overall gut health to supplement common sense butt cleaning measures. It would refocus the conversation for those hesitant about anal to start with.
