3. Spam profiles and str8 men

   Get rid of the spam. App is filled with fake profiles of trans woman. Str8 men are now coming and cluttering it up for their fetishes. This was a gay app for gay men. Trans men allowed, sure but DO SOMETHING about all the fake shit. And enforce pics for verification.

5. Ads for Xtra/Unlimited

   STOP ADS FOR PAID ACCOUNTS!!!

   I get promoting your side ventures — Woodwork by Grindr is a smart idea. However, many of us pay for the app simply for the ad free experience. I don’t know how many times I have deleted that ad from my messages tab, and received a pop-up ad today.

   Right now we have Inbox and Albums under the messages tab. For Xtra/Unlimited users, I’d suggest a third option under the messages tab for "Services". However, if you do this, do not force us to view it. If the paid users want to view them, they can at any point in time.

6. The adds are out of hand

   You people are trying to make the free version of this app so insufferable that you're destroying your product. I'm guessing you're trying to make people shell out money for one of your premium versions. I rarely noticed what these ads are even for because I'm so angry at being shown them. All I've done is open the app. I've not had a chance to so much is interact with it yet, and you're showing me an ad. So now I have to x out of four screens, each screen has to stay up for so long before I can close it, and that's just to get back to the app if I'm lucky. Why do I have to close four screens to get out of the ad? In what world does that seem reasonable? What web traffic could these advertisers possibly be getting from your ads, because if I ever manage to even notice what they're for I basically vowed to never give them my business because they make me so mad. I've been using this app off and on since 2010. I don't remember when you started showing pop-up ads, but I do know they have never made me want whatever they're selling. I usually don't even know, because the whole time all I'm doing is looking for the spot I have to touch to make it go away. Couldn't you just leave it at two screens, and leave them up for long enough that I can even tell what the hell they're for, and call it good enough? And what's with the tiny x that's pushed so far into the corner of the screen, you're not even sure the whole ex is showing. At least least half the time you can't seem to hit the exact spot because apparently anything that's not the little x is going to redirect you. So many times I'll see the notification, and just ignore it because I don't want to have to deal with an ad, because I know I'll have to view one before I can even read the message. A lot of the time, I just decide it's not worth bothering. You're getting way too greedy, and you're going to alienate the largest demographic of your entire user base. It's not like the freezers don't make you money, and if you alienate all of us, your premium users are not really going to feel like they have such a great experience either cuz it's going to be a lot fewer people using the app. Seriously guys get it together, because I think about deleting this app multiple times every day that I open it. You have a lot of other issues you need to work on too, but that's the one that pisses me off so much that it's going to lose me as a user at some point. The amount of ads is ridiculous, but primarily because of how hard they are to back out of. You have got to stop showing ads before the user has even done anything. At least go back to letting me actually view the profile, read the message, or message a profile first. Go back to showing me an ad after I try to back out of whatever I've already done, because at least then you've provided me with something functional ish before making me view an ad.

   I dont want to see men that are 30 miles away in the nearby blocks. We should show people that are in the area. It seems to be randomized now which makes it difficult for users and honestly feels like im wasting my time.

10. Verify account to reduce Ghosting and fake profiles

    It appears Hosting and fake profile to solicit pictures and to raise user emotions before ghosting them is becoming more common than not.

    Not only does this impact the mental health of users who are being ghosted, but it seriously impacts the user and makes them question their existence without our community.
    Fake users are getting off on getting attention but never following through, nor ever going to meet, but lead the user on before blocking them 2 mins before meeting.

    There needs to be some facility within the app to verify the user, or a 'commit to meet' option which gives each user the trust that they are both real and intend on a meet.

    Society sucks, but this app sucks even more when you feel like you've been taken advantage of, then discarded by someone who had no intention on meeting anyways.
    Surely Grindr can implement some verification process to weed out the fake accounts or people who are only here to hurt others..

11. Merge reporting and blocking together

    while blocking is vital for safety, many, many, many use it to spread hate/avoid rejection/punish/silent treatment. Doing it so without a real danger/threat leads to resentment..creating and continuing the hazardous cycle of stalking/obsessing.
    So merging these two features could filter out the reasons to actually block someone, not just an impulse or bad interaction. We more than anybody would benefit from kindness to heal our long number of wounds that discrimination has done. One of them avoidant behavior, not opening up also.
    Instead of blocking can Grindr act in our behalf and give us an option to let down politely if there's not a match? like an expiration chat? or make blocking not that aggressive? like making the other person just see a blank profile that says offline? that could be much more easy to digest.
    Or to have suggestions to let down like:
    sorry I had another idea in mind, we right now are not a match but in the future maybe.
    Which in many cases happened, people change their minds and gave the chat a second chance.
    But with blocking specially in a small town is super awkward to look at each other again
    .. speaking about community...
    So when safe, let each other down easy please. We can do better.

13. Privacy: Option to prevent "Recently Joined" to contact you.

    Ever had someone message you and come across very strongly? So strongly that it's makes you uncomfortable & after saying you're not interested for a 2nd time, you report and block them; only for them to return over and over with a new account 'Recently Joined'.
    Reporting the account doesn't help in this instance, with the infinite recreation of a new one.

    The ability to block recently joined accounts from contacting would be a great option to prevent this type of abuse.

    So many Trans!! Why don’t Grindr create an app specifically for trans people and people who like them. You might can charge some people twice! Men who are only looking for trans or vise versa and get hit on by a GAY MAN (what I thought Grindr was created for) they don’t have to block them.
    I just don’t understand!!!! They came out of the wood work! 75% of my blocks or hides are trans WOMEN, again I thought Grindr was for GAY MEN.
    I guess I’ll stick to Jackd and Scruff. For the most part, those apps are actually MEN who look like men!

19. Bring back distance based home page

    The homepage was based on location and the closer someone is, it’s closer to the top of the page, now there’s no option to chose to change it to shuffle or bring it back and profiles are just appearing shuffle by default, then distance doesn’t make any sense to have if you don’t know who is closer and that’s the base of the interaction… what’s the point then?
