   I’m a 66-year-old man traveling in Italy and my account was banned by an automated bot for “suspicious activity” - I verified my identity and proved I was real. Grindr support verified that I had “not violated any community guidelines”, yet, we’re on day 8 of me not being able to access my account, my date, my photos, my contacts, and Grindr is in violation of multiple regulations. Silence. Still shut out. And the scammers, just create new accounts and continue harassing those trying to make connections. I have a Grindr Xtra subscription valid until December 2026. Grindr, restore access to my account. Just flip the switch!

3. Let us turn off "insights"

   The new "insights" portion of profiles is way too big and intrusive. Let us turn it off, especially for paid subscribers. User experience on the app is rapidly deteriorating, and this would be a good step.

   So now Grindr takes user activity to determine high interest profile, stick them in For You, essentially limiting access to nearby individuals who could be a good match and moving them behind a paywall at Grindr’s own discretion. This and the insane subscription prices.

13. Feature Request: Strengthen Community Safety Through Enhanced Reporting, Fraud Prevention, and Law Enforcement Cooperation

    I appreciate Grindr's efforts to improve user safety. However, in many regions, especially India, users continue to encounter serious criminal activity on the platform, including drug dealing, financial scams, impersonation, underage users, prostitution, trafficking, and other illegal activities.
    As someone who has personally experienced financial scams through Grindr, I believe the platform can do much more to protect genuine users and restore confidence in the community.
    1. Expand Report Categories
    Please include dedicated reporting options for:
    Drug dealing or distribution
    Financial scam / Fraud
    Underage user
    Human trafficking or exploitation
    Prostitution / Solicitation
    Blackmail or extortion
    Identity theft / Impersonation
    Organized criminal activity
    2. Intelligent Scam Detection
    When multiple users independently report an account as a scammer, Grindr should use behavioral analysis and machine learning to identify common fraud patterns, such as:
    Repeated requests for money
    UPI or bank payment solicitation
    Copy-pasted conversations
    Frequently changing accounts
    Repeated profile recreation after bans
    Suspicious location or device patterns
    Accounts with a high confidence score should be automatically flagged for moderator review.
    3. "Suspicious" or "Under Moderation" Badge
    Instead of allowing potentially dangerous accounts to continue interacting normally while investigations are ongoing, introduce a temporary badge such as:
    Suspicious Activity
    Under Safety Review
    Under Moderation
    This would help users make informed decisions while the Trust & Safety team completes its review. The badge should only be applied after sufficient evidence or multiple credible reports to minimize false positives.
    4. Stronger Action Against Repeat Offenders
    Users permanently banned for serious violations should not be able to return easily.
    Consider combining:
    Device risk assessment
    Installation fingerprinting
    Verified phone numbers
    Behavioral fingerprinting
    Repeat-offender detection
    Account linkage analysis
    to prevent repeated abuse.
    5. Cooperation With Law Enforcement
    For reports involving credible evidence of serious criminal activity—including drug trafficking, child exploitation, human trafficking, organized fraud, or other major offenses—please preserve relevant evidence and cooperate with the appropriate law enforcement authorities in accordance with applicable laws and due process.
    For users in India, where legally appropriate, establish a process for cooperating with the Indian Cyber Crime authorities and other competent law enforcement agencies when investigations involve criminal conduct supported by credible evidence.
    6. Protect the Community
    Most people use Grindr to connect genuinely and safely. Criminals who exploit the platform damage trust and put the entire community at risk.
    By strengthening reporting, improving fraud detection, preventing ban evasion, and cooperating with law enforcement where appropriate, Grindr can create a much safer environment where genuine users feel confident using the platform.

    1. Image Authenticity & Profile Verification
       Introduce an image authenticity system to help identify fake or suspicious profile photos before they are widely used.
       The system could use AI and image analysis to detect indicators such as:
       Stolen or previously reported profile photos
       Images copied from social media or public websites
       AI-generated or heavily manipulated faces
       Repeated use of the same image across multiple Grindr accounts
       Screenshots, edited images, or low-quality images commonly associated with fake profiles
       Mismatches between submitted photos and optional live selfie verification
       If the system identifies a high probability that a profile photo is fake or misleading, the account should be flagged for moderator review rather than being automatically penalized.
       Users could also be offered an optional live selfie verification process to earn a "Verified Photo" badge, helping other users identify authentic profiles while respecting user privacy.
       This feature would significantly reduce fake profiles, impersonation, romance scams, and repeat offenders who continuously create new accounts using stolen or AI-generated images.

    2. Screenshot Protection & User Notification
       To discourage misuse of profile information and reduce scams, impersonation, and harassment, introduce screenshot protection features.
       Screenshot Detection
       Whenever a user takes a screenshot of another user's profile, Grindr should notify the profile owner that:
       Their profile was screenshotted.
       The date and time of the screenshot.
       Whether it was a profile page, album, or chat (where technically feasible).
       This improves transparency and allows users to make informed decisions about continuing the conversation.
       Dynamic Watermarking
       Any screenshot of a profile should automatically contain a dense, diagonal watermark across the entire image containing information such as:
       "Grindr"
       Screenshot date and time
       The viewer's account ID or anonymized identifier
       Optional session identifier
       The watermark should be difficult to crop or remove and should cover the image diagonally from edge to edge.
       Benefits
       This feature would:
       Discourage impersonation and fake profiles.
       Reduce unauthorized sharing of users' photos.
       Help identify the source of leaked screenshots.
       Deter blackmail, extortion, and harassment.
       Give users greater confidence that their profile content is being handled responsibly.
       This feature should respect platform capabilities and privacy laws while balancing user safety with legitimate uses such as reporting abusive content.

14. Urgent Feedback on User Safety, Impersonation, Illegal Activity, and Community Protection in Grindr (India/Kerala)

    I have been a Grindr user for years, and I want to share this feedback because I genuinely care about the platform and the LGBTQ+ community.
    I once met someone through Grindr who helped me build my career, and I used to proudly tell people that I met him on this platform. Today, I no longer feel comfortable admitting that I use Grindr. The app has become increasingly unsafe, especially in Kerala, India.
    Many genuine LGBTQ+ users are leaving or taking breaks because of the overwhelming presence of fake accounts, scammers, impersonators, drug dealers, and people posting disturbing or illegal content. This is damaging the reputation of the platform and putting users at real risk.
    Serious Issues
    I frequently receive disturbing messages such as:
    "Are you married?"
    Requests involving my mother or sister's underwear.
    Sexual comments about parents and siblings.
    Messages encouraging immoral or criminal acts.
    These are emotionally distressing and completely unrelated to the purpose of the platform.
    I have personally encountered a public "Right Now" post saying, "Help me rape my mother." I have also seen users asking to sexually exploit their underage sisters. Such content should never remain visible on the platform.
    Drug dealing has become increasingly common. Many profiles openly advertise or use symbols like 🚀 and 🔥 to indicate hard drugs (HF) and related illegal activities. These coded symbols should have a dedicated reporting category so users can quickly report them.
    I have seen many suspected underage users on the platform. Stronger age verification and faster moderation are urgently needed.
    Impersonation is becoming a major problem. Someone once created a profile using my own photographs, including images that I had previously used as my profile pictures. Reporting the account only hid it from me, but it appeared that no meaningful action was taken. Impersonation should result in immediate investigation and strict enforcement.
    Fake photo collectors are also common. Many users request private photos, collect them, immediately block the other person, and disappear. This creates serious privacy and safety concerns.
    Financial scams and extortion are increasing. Once a scammer blocks the conversation, victims lose access to the chat history, making it difficult to report or preserve evidence.
    Safety Concerns
    In Kerala, law enforcement operations targeting online activities have made many innocent LGBTQ+ users afraid to use the app publicly. At the same time, a growing number of non-LGBTQ+ individuals appear to be using Grindr primarily for illegal businesses, harassment, scams, and exploitation instead of genuine connections.
    This environment discourages genuine users while allowing harmful actors to flourish.
    Suggestions
    Introduce a dedicated reporting option for 🚀, 🔥, and other coded symbols associated with drug dealing.
    Take immediate action against posts promoting rape, incest, child exploitation, violence, or any illegal sexual content.
    Strengthen moderation of the "Right Now" section using both AI and human review.
    Enforce stricter action against impersonation, including immediate investigation and permanent bans where appropriate.
    Preserve reported conversations and media on Grindr's servers so evidence is not lost if a scammer blocks the victim.
    Work more closely with law enforcement regarding verified cases of drug trafficking, child exploitation, and serious criminal activity, while protecting the privacy of legitimate LGBTQ+ users.
    Improve identity verification for suspicious accounts and strengthen age verification.
    Introduce better protection against fake photo collectors and repeat offenders.
    Consider adding optional filters, including a bisexual filter, so users can better match according to their preferences.
    I am writing this because I want Grindr to become a safer place again. The LGBTQ+ community deserves a platform where people can connect without fear of harassment, impersonation, scams, illegal activity, or exploitation.
    Please treat these issues with urgency. The safety of your users—and the reputation of Grindr—depends on it.

    1—Your aggressive approach to deceptive Ad placement, “AD squares for click-bait,” on the local male layout-grid;

    2— and the obstructive DM messaging system, that not only swallows our displeasure, disgust and contempt & frustration, but our sexual proclivities, and our limited attention-spans, have drowned alongside our misfortunate, heavily-spammed, crude inbox;

    3—You’ve become an uncomfortable, a severely, uninviting space, a very cruel and unnecessary, the platform for “self-taught victimization.”

    4— You treat Gay Men, like “Cash-Cow Vehicles” whom are on their very HIV-pathways, to a devastatingly-empty funeral parlor, for their very own uneventful eulogies.

    5— Grindr is the antithesis of a “Safe Space,” and is a growing concern for lack of upward mobility in society, and contributes to the increasing notion of: “Self-Harm + Volatile Sex = False sense of Identity & self, safety & security, and the sense of belonging.

18. Get rid of Taps 99.999% Are OF ADS

    Get rid of the taps feature, 99.999% of them are OF ads. It would free up some space and cut down on some of the negative energy on the app. At the very least bring back the ability to delete them.

19. Grindr Should Be Free

    I think Grindr Should be free or at least remove xtra & keep unlimited with a discounted price every month & add more features if you pay for unlimited. The features would include Ethnicity, Gender Hairyness, Hair Color, Max Distance Limit, Penis Size, DL guys in the areas you’re searching in, Sex practice (safe only or bareback only) & Fetishes. That way Grindr will have more users paying for it & Grindr can make a lot more money.
