Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Hello Dylan and hope you are well. I’m sure she’s an amazing person, but if you check her last review of a post was in 2021, which is two years ago.
As she is an administrator, and the only one who commented on the posts from Grindr. She should be more active, her last post was two years ago. And if you go to the section planned, you’ll find the ideas are pending since 2018, which is five years ago.
So regardless if she’s an amazing person or not, and as you said, astoundingly qualified woman, but for me when i see how neglected the posts are for 3 and 5, that really screams either unprofessionalism or they simply just dont care. If she is busy or unable to do her duties for any reason, then grindr should appoint someone else to do so.!
Plus either qualified or not, she would still not feel our struggles with this app. We need a gay guy shares the same values like us, and wants to make grindr for gay men again.
Now if they dont want want to lose their client base of trans, fem,CD, she-males, heterosexual women and men, and their admirers. They can create another app from all the money of subscriptions we paid for and migrate them all there.
And i’m sure every single person here agrees with me, cheers.

Please read the following paper. The well-intentioned removal of this feature has NOT had the effect we hoped it would, I think we can all agree there. In fact, there are compelling arguments to support the idea that its removal has had negative impacts on users of color.

As an aside - to all those trying to say a cis woman shouldn't work as a moderator here... Check out her LinkedIn.. she's an astoundingly qualified human.. also not a moderator.. get your facts straight and try to avoid the ad-hominem attacks if you actually want to get a point across 👍

Grindr keeps deleting my comment.
Plz read
Actually I realized there is no point at of us posting and commenting here. The admin/moderator is a cis woman who doesn’t really care about us gays or the app. I suggest we all go on grindr twitter to voice our concerns.
Plus we need to complain about having cis woman who is heterosexual. But even if she is homosexual, she cannot be a moderator in an app thats for gay guys. Thats why all these str8 girls and guys, trans, CD and she-males started Appearing.
Check her profile plz in the closed ideas you’ll see her.
You'll be shocked to see many posts which has many votes but left neglected for over 3 years now, even though it has many votes and supports. This just shows that she doesn’t care and Grindr or doesn’t care.
Plus for trans, she-males, CD they have tons of apps for them and their admirers.
So plz lets all of us go to twitter and voice our concerns. And tell them we are leaving the app if this doesn't change. We demand to make Grindr for gay guys again and strictly no girls or straight men.
No female staff as moderators or admins or decision makers. And whatever you guys need to voice. Im honestly fed up with this app and if they dont change we will be leaving and there are many other apps willing to have us. Cheers.

I think we all are attracted certain people and having the filter back is a good idea. This makes it easier and faster to connect with the people we are interested in vers having to scroll through people of no interest. I don't think having this feature is discriminatory for which it was probably removed but a fact of who we are attracted to.

Imagine if they tried to get rid of transphobia, fatphobia, anorexiaphobia, averagephobia, ageism, achondroplasiaphobia, gigantasophobia, anthropophobia, Pantophobia, etc, etc... All filters will be removed eventually.
Having a race filter doesn't promote racism. PERIODT.
If by chance a person is racist, it exists in the fiber of that person's being, and will involve a lot of self help to be a better person.
There are far more people that like other's outside of their own "race", than people that wear a pointy white hood behind the screen burning effigies on their lawns. Stop being woke and wake up Grindr... -

and I adore Asians and I don't think that's racist either. We all have different tastes and calling someone racist because of their tastes seems to me a lack of respect and a very serious accusation. I'm fed up with postmodernism and the neo-politics of censorship, disguised fascists and morality supremacists.

Because politics got in the way, now finding your type of men according to ethnicity seems racist to Grindr!
So you need to suffer to find your type so Grindr won't see you racist! AND you have limited number of views and profiles to search... AND you CAN ONLY purchase the full version if we "GRINDR" reflect GRINDR and GAY APP on your credit\bank statement, we just don't care if you are living in a country that is against gays and LGBT in general...

Hey Marc and all.
I fully agree that the Grindr Management do not care about the gay customers.
I have written many complaints to them and only get i whissy-washy repliy from.
I suggested they send out a questback to all customers making a proper survey of the actual need of 1. ethenity filter. 2. gender filter.
instead the Grindr Management only sends us numerous almost daily offers for upgrade..
why you think that ??
the Grindr Management only think about income - they do not care they bought a gay app. they only want more income and fuck the gay community that actually are the reason Grindr was worth purchasing.
i have cancelled my grindr subscription end june and will not upgrade my membership again before the change the filters and supporting the gay world - not the trans world.
i dont mind gay trans men but i hate the socalled “straight men” who hides their gay/bi side by searching trans.
so i come to the fact right now that the Grindr Management and owner should go fuck each other and sell Grindr off to a gay organisation.

Considering Grindr isn't reading these comments, I would suggest that users who feel discriminated against by the deletion of this filter, i.e. the very same users Grindr deleted this filter for, log an incident/write a complaint to Grindr directly, not on here. Once Grindr receives thousands of emails from ethnic minority users then maybe they might do something.

I 100% agree with you Nene. As a minority myself, you've expressed all my thoughts perfectly in your comment. Sometimes I just want to find others that are like myself. Ironically, the lack of an ethnicity filter makes me feel even more alienated, because now I can't even find people to talk to and I am surrounded by people who either aren't interested in me (not complaining by the way, it's totally cool if I'm not their type) or vice versa, I'm not interested in them because they aren't what I'm looking for. So I'm just. Alone, lol.

Yes. Grindr already in it’s self, based on your area can be a space for a lot of non minorities which can make it harder finding a decent and genuine connection with someone as a minority. Most times those non-minorities have an ethnicity preference of themselves… typically their own kind unless they are fetishizing those outside of their race or genuinely open to meeting all kinds of people. Initially Grindr getting rid of the ethnicity filter is more of an advantage for non-minorities as they are able to source one another easily based on the fact they are usually grouped together largely in common areas. Making the whole Grindr explore page solely just consist of them. While those select few minorities within those spaces can’t search for others like themself or others period due to those other pages being too spread out and not appearing on the explore page since the non-minorities filled all the spaces. Generally speaking for instance when people are asked “their” type they are quick to usually come with an answer that somewhat foreshadows race. For instance if someone’s type is blondes > that is a clear indication of attraction or preferences towards white. Or say Someone’s type is “dread heads” that is a clear indication their type is steering towards black. Over all I give that example to say if this is genuinely an example how people address their interest towards people based off phenotype and features that are only and most times naturally present based on race then an ethnicity filter in that case would not be racist since it would validate the fact that a lot of peoples “type” can and subconsciously can go by race. Which I feel as though I as a minority should and cannot deem that as racist because with or without the filter people are going to still like what they like, just with the filter people will access what they like easier and quicker with out having to waste tons of time. I feel as though prior to getting rid of the ethnicity filter i Grindr should have hosted a vote to ask minorities rather or not they found it to be racist and continue to either proceed with us having that filter based on the saying

yeah...
...honestly?
at the end of the day, removing the ethnicity filter truly was a meaningless, non-effectual gesture on grindR's part
because, those who are gonna discriminate (due to their prejudice / bias), are gonna discriminate regardless
not having the filter there to intervene merely adds one more step to that inevitable 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 of theirs
with that said: i'm telling you guys categorically, grindR is 𝐍𝐎𝐓 restoring the filter
it has been over two years now
so..
..the best thing we can do at this point, is collectively stop paying grindR for what is largely shit-tier "service" anyway,
and use a blocker to nuke all the obnoxious adverts those sons of bitches bombard us with, for every little actionthe only thing the c-suites of any 𝚕𝚊𝚛𝚐𝚎 𝚌𝚘𝚛𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚏𝚒𝚝 understand is their loss of income, their own (violent, gruesome) deaths, and their own pain — beyond these, those greedy bastards could not care less if the very world around them burned to the ground
