10. That my page is full of guys hundreds of miles away and very few locals

    Just get people close by. I do believe this varies from location to location. I was in Spartanburg SC last week and lots of their locals on the page. I’m Birmingham Al it’s really bad that’s for sure. Very few locals

13. Longer bios

    Allowing for more characters in bio allows one to flesh out personal details, desires, info, etc, as opposed to using shorthand. Those who want to keep bios brief can, but as Grindr seeks to expand and cater to different crowds, perhaps a longer bio could help with diversifying the app’s usage.

    a friend and I who are both on grindr were talking about our experiences on the app and they were talking about how they don't get a lot of attention because they're fat, and I at first boiled it down to fatphobia/body shaming, and out of curiosity I used the weight filter and put in 300+ lbs minimum to see if my friend would come up, and the results automatically switched to XTRA/Unlimited and I couldn't see my friend's account unless I paid a monthly premium. We tried the same thing with a low maximum weight and it did the same thing. By no means am I a chubby chaser or have stupid expectations for how much someone should or shouldn't weigh, but it's weird and arguably discriminatory to make some peoples' dating profiles harder to access on the basis of their weight. sounds like grindr is trying to make a buck off of weight fetishists instead of giving over or underweight people a fair chance at being seen, and that's not okay!

    I have a tool that tells me what apps on my phone are sending information about me elsewhere (trackers). While common in many apps, what is quite UNCOMMON and ALARMING are the number of 3rd party trackers Grindr enables in the background (even when the app is not running) and the sheer variety of personal information it is sharing to anyone that will pay them for your data. Your first and last name, your email, your GPS location (at all times). If you are someone attempting to be discrete, maybe you are an elected official, etc - any company can fairly easily compile full names, emails, location data, app activity on you. This is beyond just "big brother is watching". Grindr is abusing this to a whole new level. If Grindr is not going to voluntarily protect user privacy, legislattion and regulation should. Be warned if you use Grindr, everything you say, send and do is being logged...
