2. Please more privacy

   Hello Grindr team,

   I would like to ask if you could add a feature that allows users to block profiles based on a person's phone number. Similar to Tinder, where you can create an account and block the phone numbers of people in your contacts so that if they create a profile, they will never be able to see yours, and vice versa.

   I think this would be a great privacy feature and would help users feel safer when using the app.

4. Urgent Feedback on User Safety, Impersonation, Illegal Activity, and Community Protection in Grindr (India/Kerala)

   I have been a Grindr user for years, and I want to share this feedback because I genuinely care about the platform and the LGBTQ+ community.
   I once met someone through Grindr who helped me build my career, and I used to proudly tell people that I met him on this platform. Today, I no longer feel comfortable admitting that I use Grindr. The app has become increasingly unsafe, especially in Kerala, India.
   Many genuine LGBTQ+ users are leaving or taking breaks because of the overwhelming presence of fake accounts, scammers, impersonators, drug dealers, and people posting disturbing or illegal content. This is damaging the reputation of the platform and putting users at real risk.
   Serious Issues
   I frequently receive disturbing messages such as:
   "Are you married?"
   Requests involving my mother or sister's underwear.
   Sexual comments about parents and siblings.
   Messages encouraging immoral or criminal acts.
   These are emotionally distressing and completely unrelated to the purpose of the platform.
   I have personally encountered a public "Right Now" post saying, "Help me rape my mother." I have also seen users asking to sexually exploit their underage sisters. Such content should never remain visible on the platform.
   Drug dealing has become increasingly common. Many profiles openly advertise or use symbols like 🚀 and 🔥 to indicate hard drugs (HF) and related illegal activities. These coded symbols should have a dedicated reporting category so users can quickly report them.
   I have seen many suspected underage users on the platform. Stronger age verification and faster moderation are urgently needed.
   Impersonation is becoming a major problem. Someone once created a profile using my own photographs, including images that I had previously used as my profile pictures. Reporting the account only hid it from me, but it appeared that no meaningful action was taken. Impersonation should result in immediate investigation and strict enforcement.
   Fake photo collectors are also common. Many users request private photos, collect them, immediately block the other person, and disappear. This creates serious privacy and safety concerns.
   Financial scams and extortion are increasing. Once a scammer blocks the conversation, victims lose access to the chat history, making it difficult to report or preserve evidence.
   Safety Concerns
   In Kerala, law enforcement operations targeting online activities have made many innocent LGBTQ+ users afraid to use the app publicly. At the same time, a growing number of non-LGBTQ+ individuals appear to be using Grindr primarily for illegal businesses, harassment, scams, and exploitation instead of genuine connections.
   This environment discourages genuine users while allowing harmful actors to flourish.
   Suggestions
   Introduce a dedicated reporting option for 🚀, 🔥, and other coded symbols associated with drug dealing.
   Take immediate action against posts promoting rape, incest, child exploitation, violence, or any illegal sexual content.
   Strengthen moderation of the "Right Now" section using both AI and human review.
   Enforce stricter action against impersonation, including immediate investigation and permanent bans where appropriate.
   Preserve reported conversations and media on Grindr's servers so evidence is not lost if a scammer blocks the victim.
   Work more closely with law enforcement regarding verified cases of drug trafficking, child exploitation, and serious criminal activity, while protecting the privacy of legitimate LGBTQ+ users.
   Improve identity verification for suspicious accounts and strengthen age verification.
   Introduce better protection against fake photo collectors and repeat offenders.
   Consider adding optional filters, including a bisexual filter, so users can better match according to their preferences.
   I am writing this because I want Grindr to become a safer place again. The LGBTQ+ community deserves a platform where people can connect without fear of harassment, impersonation, scams, illegal activity, or exploitation.
   Please treat these issues with urgency. The safety of your users—and the reputation of Grindr—depends on it.

5. AI intervention

   It would be amazing if you told the ai to block scammers constantly using the same pics or writing the same copy and pasted descriptions of themselves.

   Regardless of how many times I’ve blocked people I repeatably get the same ones on my feed, they are a combination of gift card scammers, sexworkers trying to extort $, massage therapists, and people with onlyfans accounts.

   If you had ai check the pics which have been previously used before for people whose profiles get reported only for them to clone a new one, then those profiles will be weeded out and we can see the people whom are actually legit and interested in connecting with real people rather than the constant barrage of the same profiles every day!

    My account was permanently banned for allegedly offering or requesting paid sexual services, despite never engaging in such behaviour. The ban notice indicated that automated measures were used, and after waiting nearly two months for an appeal review, I received only a generic response stating that the decision was final, without any explanation, evidence, or indication that a meaningful human review had taken place. As a long-term user who has always used Grindr for its intended purpose, I find this process unfair and lacking transparency. This issue could be resolved by conducting a genuine manual review of my account activity, providing a clear explanation of the alleged violation, and reconsidering the ban if no evidence of wrongdoing exists.

    Hiding the profiles does not work and often the profile pops back up. I don’t see why hiding is better than blocking when both are reversible.

    Restrict the Trans Individuals from entering into the app, and remove the option for identity, deceiving people by not disclosing transgender status one is a violation of informed consent there for is sexual misconduct!     Bonjour,

    Je vous contacte une nouvelle fois concernant un faux profil utilisant mes photographies et mon identité sur votre plateforme.

    Malgré de multiples signalements effectués auprès de vos services, vous n'avez apporté aucune réponse à mes demandes et le profil concerné demeure actif. Cette personne continue ainsi d'utiliser mes photos sans mon consentement, de se faire passer pour moi et de porter atteinte à mon image en toute impunité.

    La situation est d'autant plus grave que l'auteur de ce faux profil m'a adressé à plusieurs reprises des insultes et des menaces. Ces faits vous ont été signalés, mais aucune action concrète ne semble avoir été prise de votre part.

    Je trouve particulièrement préoccupant qu'une plateforme de l'envergure de Grindr reste silencieuse face à des signalements répétés d'usurpation d'identité, alors même que les preuves ont été communiquées et que les agissements dénoncés continuent de se produire.

    Compte tenu de votre absence de réaction, j'ai déposé plainte et signalé cette situation aux autorités compétentes. Une enquête est désormais en cours et les services de gendarmerie vous adresseront prochainement un courrier ainsi qu'une demande officielle concernant ce dossier.

    Je vous demande une dernière fois de procéder immédiatement à la suppression de tous les profils utilisant mes photographies sans autorisation, de préserver l'ensemble des données relatives aux comptes concernés afin qu'elles puissent être transmises aux autorités sur réquisition, et de me confirmer par écrit les mesures prises.

    À défaut d'une intervention rapide de votre part, je me réserve le droit de faire valoir l'ensemble de mes droits et de porter à la connaissance des autorités compétentes le manque de diligence dont vous avez fait preuve malgré mes nombreux signalements.

    Afin qu'il ne puisse exister aucune ambiguïté sur les faits dénoncés, vous trouverez en pièces jointes des captures d'écran du faux profil utilisant mes photographies ainsi que des captures des menaces, insultes et propos intimidants que son auteur a proférés à mon encontre. Ces éléments démontrent clairement l'usurpation d'identité dont je suis victime ainsi que le caractère particulièrement préoccupant du comportement de cet utilisateur.
    J'attends une réponse de votre part dans les plus brefs délais.
