1. Platform-enabled addiction and chemsex culture causing severe community harm

   Grindr was once a safer way to find each other. It replaced dangerous late-night cruising with digital connection. But the platform has evolved into something equally harmful: a space that profits from addiction rather than protecting the community it serves.

   The Problem:
   Research shows Grindr users open the app 8.4 times daily, spending over 1.3 hours per day on the platform, with many active late into the night. More critically, Grindr ranked highest among all apps for making users unhappy, with 77% of heavy users reporting unhappiness. The app uses variable ratio reinforcement, the same psychological mechanism as slot machines, making compulsive use extremely difficult to control.
   The intersection with chemsex culture is devastating. A 2023 study found that 54.4% of MSM PrEP users encountered illegal substances via dating apps, 44.2% were offered drugs for sale, and 22.6% increased their substance use because of app use. Another study found 10% of Grindr users were actively using meth, with 90% of those users holding premium subscriptions, suggesting the platform may profit directly from its most vulnerable users.

   A solution:
   Implement a mandatory wellness break system:
   • Detection: If a user has been continuously active or logged in for more than 10 hours within a 24-hour period, trigger a mandatory 10-hour suspension
   • Purpose: Force a reset break to interrupt compulsive use cycles and chemsex binges that often last 12-24+ hours
   • Messaging: Frame it as community care: "You've been active for 10 hours. Take a 10-hour break to rest and reconnect with yourself. Your account will be available again at [time]."

   Why This Matters:
   Users report spending 12, 24, or even more hours online nonstop during chemsex sessions. The platform's design, endless scrolling, push notifications, variable rewards, exploits psychological vulnerabilities rather than protecting users. Unlike slot machines, which are regulated for addiction potential, dating apps face no such oversight.

   Grindr claims to care about the community. Prove it. This isn't about reducing engagement, it's about ethical responsibility. A user forced to take a break is a user who survives to return tomorrow.

   Additional measures to consider:
   • Partner with harm reduction organizations for resources during suspension screens
   • Allow users to voluntarily set lower limits (5-hour max sessions with 5-hour breaks)
   • Provide addiction resource links in the app

   The community is dying. Grindr can either be part of the solution or continue profiting from the problem.

2. Fake trans women profiles and women

   Fake trans women profiles are scams that use stolen/AI photos to catfish users. They waste time, trick people into meetings, and create real safety risks on a location-based app. And Cis straight women don’t belong on Grindr. The app was made for gay/bi/queer men. They clutter the grid and frustrate the main user base.

3. Bring Back the Favorites Tab for Easier Navigation

   I would like to suggest bringing back the Favorites tab because it made the app much easier to use and improved navigation in a practical and noticeable way. This feature gave users a simple way to save profiles they were interested in and return to them later without needing to search again. It made the experience feel more organized, more efficient, and less frustrating.

   For many users, the Favorites tab was not just a small extra feature. It was part of how they used the app every day. When browsing multiple profiles, it is easy to lose track of people you wanted to revisit. A dedicated Favorites section solved that problem in a clean and user-friendly way. 6. Filter out OnlyFans and Sugar Daddy bios

   So many bios are clearly indicative of bot accounts, containing essentially the same text. It seems like it would be so easy to vet these accounts. Many of them use the same pictures and create multiple similar profiles. Paying for this product is obnoxious when most of the taps I receive are from scam accounts.

7. Recurring drain clogs – is it worth doing "preventive" cleaning?

   I’ve had to call out a plumber twice in the last year because of backup issues in my main sewer line. Each time they just snake it, tell me it’s "probably tree roots or grease," and leave. I’m tired of the stress of wondering when the next overflow will happen. I’ve heard about "preventive" cleaning, but it sounds like one of those upsells that companies push just to get more money out of you. Does anyone here actually do regular maintenance on their pipes before they clog, or is it better to just wait until there’s a problem? 11. Prevent multiple accounts

    Some people delete their account and recreate it more often than they change their underwear! I block/hide them, then they reappear with a fresh profile. This defeats the purpose of blocking/hiding profiles. There should be some penalty for doing this. Maybe you can't sign-up again for a month after deleting your account.

    Sure people have multiple emails, may not be full proof, but diverts the pain to the offenders rather than those of us who stick with our own profiles.

    Everyday I was getting tapped by people with a profile that started with TS and it had the same girls picture on it they just started changing up the picture on it but when I go to report it I would report the four of them cuz it always come in fours, Then I thought I would go and look in the explorer map area for profile switch if we want to contact one we would get one a day to look we used to get three but I kept coming across more the TS profiles and I reported four one day and then another four and then all of a sudden I was blocked on looking at profiles in the explorer map area like one of the moderators got mad because he had to look into the all these profiles that I reported a total of maybe 12 or 13 with the TS profile almost the same picture different poses of the same girl.
    I'm just trying to make grinder safer in and better for people with these get these only fans people off of here and then there's these I'm looking for a a baby to give fourth K2 and to pay off their debt I report all those I figured going into the explore map area and getting ahead of the game and reporting the rest of them you can maybe go compare the IP but now grinder is blocked me from even going in that area where we used to get at least look at one profile in contact one free per day what we used to get three before that and five before that and now you can't even look at the profiles what's the point??     These profiles would tap you and then drag you into a conversation and then slowly bring up the only fans and then you report them so I went ahead and reported the TS profiles because if you check out the ones that I reported from 2 months ago to now you'll see that it's the same pictures the same people doing the only fans and I just want to try to get ahead of that to maybe you could compare the IPS or something to ban them for good to make grinder better and then you punish me by taking away my explore maps of the only one a day I had where we used to have three.. pathetic
