1. Pricing gouging: cost of Unlimited and Xtra have me bamboozled

   I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns and disappointment regarding the current pricing structure for Grindr’s Unlimited and Extra subscriptions.

   After taking a one-year hiatus from the app, I recently decided to re-download Grindr. However, upon doing so, I noticed immediately that the app had become increasingly difficult to navigate without purchasing a premium subscription. The overwhelming pop-ups and advertisements not only disrupted the user experience but also caused my phone to crash at one point.

   Despite these challenges, I decided to re-subscribe to your premium plans, but I was absolutely shocked by the current pricing structure. To say that it feels like price gouging would be a severe understatement. While I understand that the cost of services is increasing across industries, the prices you are charging are not justifiable. In fact, they reflect a critical misstep in Grindr’s approach to research and development, alienating both long-time, loyal users like myself as well as everyday folk, most of which having all good intentions. Instead, this pricing targets catfish accounts and spam advertising.

   As a long-standing subscriber to Grindr’s Unlimited and Extra plans since their inception, I am deeply disappointed. Out of principle, I cannot support such unethical pricing practices, which directly contribute to the ongoing cycle of inflation. By continuing to raise your prices to unjustifiable levels, you are perpetuating the very problem of never-ending inflation. At some point, the cycle has to stop, and it starts with companies like yours taking a more responsible approach.

   I strongly urge Grindr to review its pricing structure and offer subscriptions at a more reasonable and fair rate. This would not only demonstrate a commitment to user satisfaction but also rebuild trust with users who feel increasingly alienated due to the sky, high prices and record number of catfish accounts.

   I hope you will take this feedback into serious consideration, as Grindr’s current approach risks alienating a significant portion of its user base.

   I live in mahipalpur.here many fraud guys makes grinder account with name pd or pad top. They are using shortcut name to make paid profile.they are asking money for sex and promoting escort service on grinder also they do fraud and blackmailing. Today's situation every 6 profile out of 10 in mahipalpur is promoting paid service. Its a very serious problem nowadays
   I request you to take a very strict action against them because its very important now
   Block their ID's and also ban their phone so they won't be able to make paid account again
   I wil report this type of id as much as i can.but suggest me some way so i can do something to prevent this

5. Hide profiles without picture

   I'll pay for the app the moment I have the option to hide profiles without a picture from my view & to hide my profile from profiles without a picture. There is no good reason to not have a picture or to allow profiles without a picture, I assume the absolute worst & IME that assumption is true/valid. I want to find Love, a relationship with someone I can be proud to be with. I asked about 100 of them some variation of "why no pic?" & have never had one give a reason. IME these are very bad & dangerous people.

6. Bring back Favorites tab by replacing the newly added Right Now tab

   Honestly, placing such emphasis on the Right Now option that it has to exist both as a tab and a filter is beyond me. I have ended up using the Favorites option very seldom since it became a filter. It just isn't practical as a filter.

7. The aggressiveness of ads

   The aggressiveness of the ads needs to stop, or at least calm down. I don’t mind an ad every now and then but every 10secs is a bit much. The prices are too high to get the no-ad experience. I’m sure people are ditching the app because of this.

   It would be very beneficial to have a setting for distance so I can set it and only see people that are near me and not all the way in a different state!!.

   Example: Distance - Within 5 Miles, 10 Miles, 15 Miles, 20 Miles, ect… something in that context I can vouch that it will work and make our lives better.

9. Bring back the specific location on map

   Hi, I’m currently paying for the most premium membership, but I’ve noticed an issue on the Explore feature. Even though I set a specific location on the map, the app keeps showing me profiles from other areas instead of the exact area I selected. Also, the distance used to be visible (in meters or km), and now it’s gone — that was very useful. I would really like to have that feature back, since sometimes we’re specifically looking to connect with people from a certain area. Please consider bringing it back. Thanks!

10. Settle on one paid plan and stop the extortion. Quit bullying other apps from existing. Stop the greed and show some real support to users.

    To those who run the app and get a paycheck for your work in the app. For me, it's become a pain to use Grindr in many ways. I understand that you got a business and it ain't a charity and things cost you guys money, but we all know that even if the app was free to use you would still get a pretty high revenue just from users data alone. But okay that may not be public so in order to cash in you have to have the user pay, okay. That's fair. But it's become so unbalanced guys. Even if someone who manages to afford an extra subscription for some time, cause we're not all rich or even in comfortable positions to spray money on this, even then, as if it was expensive enough for extra, you actually need to go unlimited to avoid missing out on features that are pretty basic to implement, that used to be in the free membership. It's not hard to see the game you're playing. Truth is even if I paid the ultimate paid version, I wouldn't feel happy about using the app. Men will be men and we've always as gay men have managed to find ways to find each other. Truth things have changed a lot regarding how society integrates gays into itself but that's not everyone,as I type this there are people being imprisoned or killed in some countries just for being gay. Those are are brothers, and lovers. I am grateful to live in a place where I can be myself and not necessarily have my life or freedom taken from me, not to say I haven't had my share of homophobia in my family and surroundings, but it was online places such as manhunt and Grindr that I got to see that I was not alone and there were others like me and there was nothing wrong with me for being gay. It's really sad to see how we have turn on each other as we have been more positively view by a straight run society tho. You gave gay men a way to connect with each other only to turn that need for connecting into a extortion machine designed to fill your pockets while leaving users who pay and who don't pay, feeling used , frustrated, worthless and dissatisfied. We as gay men are no strangers to hatred and segregation at some point so it's no wonder to me that we show more hate to each other than the harte we get from a straight society at least here in American continent , and it's a hateful thing to abuse the community that has made Grindr the most used dating gay app. I'm not saying give us everything free and respect out data and be nice just because. It's a business, and it should profitable for anyone investing their time and efforts on it, but maybe you can try to find the line between being a decent. Putting your users first doesn't have to go against selling your product cheap or giving it away. Its a very good product in essence and yeah people should contribute if theyre getting a benefit I agree. Don't pervert a good even helpful and community building product into an evil extortion tool. Money isn't everything, and tho Im realistic and know it's essential to survive in this world. There really are bigger more important parts to life. Maybe intangible and maybe unrecognizable to everyone unlike a BMW or a mansion. But there is a feeling when one knows that their actions have helped others than no amount of money can ever buy. You got a chance to use this , the data the money the connections and implement it for the betterment of everyone using the app, and even ,maybe everyone, who knows perhaps you could invest some ideas to help those brothers in those places were their lives are at sake for loving other men. Wouldn't that feel better than selling 10000000 unlimited memberships? If the answer is no, that's fine by me, I don't judge, but to me the answer would be hell yes. For I am you and you are me and when we die, who knows what happens really but for sure you mind , spirit, cannot take the money or the cars or the poppers and cash to wherever it may go. But there's a chance that It can and it does take away what's already in n it, in each one of use, our memories and our know we did the best we could with what we had . Love comes to us when we give love to others.

12. Manual spam filter, block messages with a specific phrase

    So many of your spam bots have such simple patterns. Why not just let us handle that ourselves by allowing us to specify a blocked phrase, such that if a user introduces a new chat with said phrase, the chat request skips notifications? Perhaps add a separate chat list for spam too and add a little notification dot to it too, like how email works.

    Once you have blocked someone off your free grid area, it should be replaced with new people rather than saying “X people blocked”.

    Either keep the ads and keep us the ability to see who tapped us without XTRA, or lose the ads and stop phasing out all your free features to an XTRA subscription. The greed is insane.
