1. Quickly report & block spam

   This is similar to another submission, but goes a bit further, so I thought I should add it.
   It takes 7 clicks to report and block a spam profile. Some steps are slow.
   Sometimes it is necessary to report a number of identical or very similar spam profiles to make the Grindr grid even usable again!
   The normal Grindr Hiding doesn't seem to work for travelling, roaming or boosted profiles. It only works for profiles that are indeed actually nearby. Spam profiles are not actually nearby, just appear so, so therefore normal Hiding doesn't work. The only option that works is to report spam and hide - and that is very painful to do multiple times.
   Also, whenever you report a profile, afterwards the grid always resets back to the top, so to report the next spam, you have to scroll back down to wherever you were before.
   We really need a fast ReportSpam&Hide method - eg. you highlight all spam profiles (just like long-press delete mode in messages screen) and the one click just reports & hides them all.

   Related:
   When a user reports multiple spam profiles, it seems unfair the ad down count down timer still runs - so you may have to sit through multiple ads, some deliberately very painful to exit, as you report spam profiles for Grindr's benefit.
   Please hold or backup the ad timer when users are reporting.

7. Consent and NSFW pictures

   Educate on consent! Don’t promote assault!

   If a person has NSFW set to ‘Never’ on their profile, herein as the receiver, the following should happen:

   • A user sending a photo to the receiver receives a pop up dialog box informing them that the user does not consent to NSFW photos and asks the sender whether they would like to proceed with sending the photos.
   • The sender has the option to press “Yes - these photos are safe” and the photos would proceed to send. The sender could press “No - these photos are NSFW” and the photos wouldn’t send.
   • If the sender presses “Yes”, the sender would be additionally informed that sending explicit images would violate the consent of the receiver. A new dialog box would re-prompt the sender to confirm to proceed to send. (OR a warning similar to this would appear within the first dialog box).
   • The dialog box would also include at the bottom a hyperlink to a Grindr website informing them of consent when sending sexual imagery.

   To mitigate the risk of the sender violating the consent of the receiver and proceeding to send NSFW photos despite being informed thereof, the receiver should experience the following:

   • All photos received are subject to blanket censoring whereby a photo is blurred or hidden with the warning that a photo could be explicit. The receiver has the option to view the image should they choose to.
   • You could instead opt for an automatic screening protocol to censor images deemed NSFW but this would have to be done in a way that adheres to the data privacy of the sender.
   • If a photo is deemed NSFW when the receiver does not consent to these images, then the receiver would have the option to report the sender.

   The sender would also be pre-warned that clicking “Yes” in order to send explicit images would breach Grindr community guidelines by the violation of the receiver’s consent and that the receiver would be in the right to report the sender and the potential consequence of this for the sender.

   Grindr has an obligation to not only protect the consent of its users but also to educate those on consent too. This is why I think a solution which aims to only censor NSFW photos from users who do not consent to them on their profile does not solve the issue. The dialog box serves a great educational purpose to make users understand consent regarding the sending of sexual imagery to make the app and society safer for everyone in this community.

   If Grindr doesn’t choose to enact this, then it cannot be said that the highest priority of those at Grindr is to educate the community on consent and is instead complicit by negligence in the assault of its users in receiving sexual imagery without that consent.

    Over half the grid is spam bots promoting social media. If you remove the links it will at least cut that back some.

    You all are doing a crap job of Grindr!

    Mostly spam, screws up my profile pics randomly, the costs have skyrocketed!

    Why should I keep paying for a “service” where the product gets worse and worse and the price still keeps climbing?

11. Distance filter

    Distance filter that allows you to set max distance:
    Club - Profiles under 20 meters
    Building - Profiles under 50 meters
    Block - Profiles under 100 meters.
    Neighbourhood - Profiles under 500 meters

    That kind of thing. A quick way to tell if anyone is even remotely close, the "nearby" of 20km is crazy. Especially in bigger cities with multiple bars in the same city block, even customizable distance feature would be nice.

12. Fix your problems before changing the things that work and adding more paid features.

    If you're going to spam adds so much atleast bring back the multi tiered paid options. Almost 40 bucks a month for features we dont need just to get rid of ad is absurd.

    A good paid feature would be to prevent people messaging you if they are too far away. Anything over 25km away is generally a bit pointless. Often a waste of time asking each other how you are for a few days.

14. Disable albums on Grindr Web - Screenshots

    People often use albums to prevent their private photos and videos from being screenshotted/saved. You can get around this quickly by logging into Grindr on the web and using a computer's tools to save them.

    Albums shouldn't be viewable on the web, or, the album owner should be able to opt-out of their albums being available on the web-version.

19. Grindr against our security

    Experimenting the politics of grindr about list of blocked profiles. After I am blocking a certain amount of profiles , after few weeks reappear in my grid. There is a maximum of profile we can block? I am paying a service that is not contributing to my security. Does anyone else experimenting that?

20. Conceal activity from specific users

    This is both a dating and hookup app. Sometimes I meet someone IRL and want keep seeing them, but it does not mean I immediately want to enter a monogomous relationship with them. I would like the option to hide my activity, online statis etc. from people I know without completely blocking them. Its awkward when you activate Right Now mode, and you get a message from someone youve been on two dates with, "oh wow, you could have just texted me". I tried to avoid an awkward situation with a guy I was seeing by blocking him on the app, but he noticed and took it the wrong way, he is very upset with me. There needs to be a way to practice discretion and not be flagrant when im using the same space for dating and hookups.
