I was ripped off for $40 and change from a dating site ad in my messages on Grndr.
These messages are constantly on my message board and I decided to try one of them.
These scam/ thief messages should never make it on here. -

Unlimited users are authorized and usually life experienced . I suggest that every unlimited user could moderate fake or underage profiles around in radar range. Sending actual requests often meets with lack of reaction or adequate result. Let’s improve cleaning grinder from fakes or stalking and abusive underage kids, by allowing unlimited users to moderate in their area.

There are a lot of scams now that convince you to give your phone number. Can you create a way to automatically mask/delete a number that is entered. Alternatively, it would be great if you could do what delivery services and other gig services do, which is to create a private number so that people can text if they choose to.
At a minimum, recognizing the format of a number and popping up a reminder not to use your personal phone number would be great.

It's not just the fact that it's spam. There are two large principles that are being ignored. The first one is that Grindr deliberately allows spam to be cycled back and forth, with the subtle suggestion that they can make it all go away for a little cash. That's called manipulation and I don't think that it should be allowed to happen. The second principle is the fact that it's not just regular spam but it's disrespectful derogatory bullshit. Common examples are something like the header tagline saying "Hey want to fuck??", Followed by a website address. I hope I'm not alone in saying that WE ARE ALL SICK OF BEING USED AS TOOLS TO MAKE YOU MORE MONEY BY LEVERAGING PROMISCUITY AGAINST US!! And even worse, the owners of this God forsaken website / app are not even gay whatsoever! How does that make everyone feel, somebody say something for Christ sakes! Is this the kind of stuff you want to look back on when you're getting older? Sharing fond memories of how the most popular dating app continuously beats you down with endless trivial attempts to get you to give them more money and when you don't want to, they throw every type of ad at you that they can think of, and then disrespect you the whole way. Here's a good analogy: you're cruising down Hennepin avenue trying to get to your favorite bar, but all along the way every 10 ft a really annoying disrespectful man in one of those long fur trench coats blocks your path and opens his coat and tries to sell you one of his shitty watches that not even HELEN KELLER would buy, at which point you decline and shoulder passed him. Imagine that happening endlessly...By the time you got three blocks into your journey you would be ready to tear somebody's head off and roll that bitch into the street.
There's a better way, man. Find it.

WHY havsn't Grindr done enough to STOP this from happening? I mean with all the money Grindr gets from Extra, and the premium membership.
I'm sure they can hire a couple of developers to solve this issue. This is getting more and more frequent. Daily.
COME ON GRINDR, sort it out!

If you did what NKP does and BBRT you could element alot of that ..they have a verification of your IP Address so only one account can be registered to that address
People can open multiple email accounts and register 100s to a site but if you only allow one account for each individual IP Address it becomes difficult and time consuming to open counterfeit accounts -

If you report a message for spam it should automatically block that profile, this should have been part of the basic setup.

it appears that the bots that give gifs of sites...or bots that text a random site..or the regular one that says try this site....i report them on a daily basis as i bet you all do too...seems the bots are part of the grindr ad program...no reporting or blocking stops them..thus they are tied to the grindr income stream if some gullible user clicks or types it in....when you google the whois..they are really close to grindr...lol...so bots and heterosexual ads are part of the grindr income stream....as the owners are straight.

I am constantly getting bombarded by people asking for participation in local sex parties, or asking new to verify my identity with a credit card purchase on third party websites. I'm getting nearly a dozen such messages a day. It has gotten to the point that I say things like fuck off or drop dead and the like to spammers I know won't respond back

Spam is getting worse and worse. I get the same messages everyday. What is your company doing to fix this? Or is this built into your system and these spammers are actually paying you for access? It's gotten so bad, I wouldn't be surprised. Afterall, selling out to China for a time left your code exposed for exactly this. I had 3 new messages today, all spam. Your app is going down the toilet, you charge way to much for an inferior product and it's no wonder people aren't using Grindr as much anymore.

I've had at least 40 messages from spam accounts. The constant gays.net or grindergays .com is ridiculous and irritating. I've reported every time I got a message from them but grindr won't do anything about it, yet it nukes actual accounts for no reason. Fix it!!!!!!!!!!

Top of the list of complaints and Grindr does absolutely nothing to fix it.
Not only is this item top, but there are about 3 times as many complaints for SPAM as there are for the next item on the list. How about:
#1 Automatically close all blank profiles that send out messages with .com links#2 Automatically suspend any profile that gets 3 spam reports from separate users within a short period of time
#3 Automatically investigate any profile that is sending out too many messages
#4 Once spammers are detected, delete all the messages they have sent from other people's in boxes. This is important to ensure spamming is not worthwhile.
With these 4 measures, it simply wouldn't be worth anyone's time to send spam

Actually, Grindr punishes us for reporting spam, as we often have to endure an "advert" after reporting spam.
