   I am sick and tired of bots. As a paid user, I get inundated with “taps” and messages from bots, “ 600-2000km away,” that says wanna see real sex join xxxx website dot com. ENOUGH Grindr. I am using this app less and less because it is annoying. Also taps from fake profiles, one photo of a onlyfans model, links leading to their fake IG and X and the only thing in their IG and X are forwarding links to onlyfans and just for fans. Bots asking me to join their only fans and if I do they will fuck me. Oh please stop this madness. To use Grindr you need to be 18, and you can add verification based on ID or Credit Card owners.

2. Let us see everyone who tapped us. If I don’t check my taps within an hour, it becomes hidden.

   I get some tap notifications and decide not to check it until after I get home from dinner with friends. By the time I’m home a few hours later, the taps are hidden because I didn’t check quick enough. Even within an hour, the taps become hidden. TOO MANY features are hidden behind a paywall. The app has become truly awful.

4. do not allow large age gaps

   Many "mature" men (+30) only talk to very young people (18 to 21), bordering on total degeneration and efebophilia. It's disgusting that this is allowed just because "it's legal." What?    2. Explore Feature Restrictions: The “Explore” function, which allows viewing profiles in other locations, has been drastically limited to unlocking only 5 profiles per day.    These modifications are not only inconvenient but will undoubtedly cause widespread confusion, frustration, and annoyance among countless other Xtra users. What is the purpose of paying for a premium subscription if the features are being eroded to the point where they mirror those of a free account? 10. You should be able to report an account even after they block you.

    There should be a report option available for chats/accounts that have blocked you.
    Apparently, this already exists called "Report a recent chat" in Settings, but I know it is not available to most users.
    I've just had someone insult and abuse me, and threaten to leak my nudes.

13. Other countries have gender filter

    Just letting everyone know that I just returned from Canada and they have gender filter on Grindr. I find it absolutely disturbing and discriminating that we in the USA do not have this filter. Tells you a lot about how backwards the thinking is in this country.

16. You need to figure out the bots

    I am constantly bombarded (multiple times per login) with bots trying to get me to go to a website. Now, (again—multiple times per login) fake trans girl profiles will trap me. It’s maddening. They’re using the same bad photos and changing the name each time: ashley, kelly, etc.

    Figure out your sh*t cuz your app isn’t cheap.

Over the past several days, I’ve noticed a significant uptick in clearly fake accounts that are disruptive to the platform experience. Here are the specific patterns I’ve observed:
    1. Tapping Behavior
    • Today alone, I’ve received 27 taps from accounts of this type.
    • Over the last few days, I’ve reported each one as spam, but the issue persists.
    • These accounts repeatedly tap multiple times in short intervals, creating unnecessary notifications and noise.
    2. Account Profile Patterns
    • Nearly all have female profile photos, generally aged 25–38.
    • They typically include no additional profile details beyond the photo and age.
    • Despite claiming to be local, their locations often show as 100+ miles away, well outside of my filter range.
    3. Message Behavior
    • The spam accounts almost always send a single generic message directing me to an external website for sex or hookups.
    • The text is formulaic, with only slight variations across accounts (to avoid automated detection, I assume).
    4. Impact on Experience
    • The repeated taps and messages are frustrating and disruptive.
    • It makes the platform feel less safe and authentic, as real connections are drowned out by constant spam activity.

    Suggestions for Improvement
    To help curb this growing issue, I’d like to suggest:
    • Stronger detection filters: Look for patterns such as repeated identical messages, profiles with no details, or repeated taps from accounts outside a user’s set distance.
    • Rate limits on taps/messages: Prevent newly created accounts from sending large numbers of taps or messages in a short period.
    • Photo and account verification prompts: Encourage or require verification for accounts that fit these common spam patterns.
    • Smarter spam reporting feedback loop: When multiple users flag accounts with identical behavior, those accounts should be automatically disabled more quickly.

    Considering the premium cost, this makes the service feel extremely poor in value. It’s disheartening to pay for features that are overshadowed by fake accounts and spam interactions. What should be an enjoyable and social experience has instead become exhausting and disappointing.

    I hope Grindr takes stronger action to reduce the prevalence of fake/bot accounts. Otherwise, it’s hard to justify maintaining a paid subscription under these conditions.
