An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedExpressing sexual DISINTEREST is NOT discrimination. Inclusion and acceptance are SOCIAL issues that have no place in a conversation regarding personal sexual inclinations or personal dating habits.
I have no interest in using an app for every orientation, as I only want to connect with other gay men. I don't want to filter and ignore 30 women, just to get to see a single gay member. Female profiles on a gay app is like adding bacon to a vegan meal: it might add some flavor, but it still ruins the purpose of being vegan. It ruins the purpose and value of the desired experience.
And filters would never help, as the pay wall would be absurdly high.

Inclusion and acceptance are SOCIAL issues that have no place in a conversation regarding sexual inclinations. I will never be sexually interested in women, trans or crossdressers, and that is perfectly acceptable.

An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedTruly, I think this boils down to one thing. The lgbtqia banner is great for politics, and allowing everybody to gain equal rights. Like the equal right to a dating app that actually is my dating pool, and not my political pool.
The lgbtqia banner is a political tool, and shouldn't even be a part of the conversation regarding a same-secks dating app.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedWhen this app was first created, it was indeed intended for men only. At some point, the developers chose to change this without actually informing their existing user platform. This is why we are annoyed so vehemently. Brandi, there are plenty of apps for you as well, besides Grindr. Also, pretending that grindr is anything more than a hookup app, is very delusional. It's actually not very common to find people who just want to chat, or just be friends. There are a ton of flakes though. And if you were on this app, just to make friends, you were on the wrong type of app to begin with.
It's a matter of privacy, many gay men do not wish to share certain details with members of the opposite gender. I don't like to take my shirt off in front of women, but I would like to include that sort of image in my gay profile. However, I choose to maintain a blank profile, as the current environment on Grindr is not conducive to my personal preferences.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedI'm just going to call it, Grindr has completely refocused its efforts on a different community.
They no longer wish to be affiliated with the gay male community.
Grindr has gone FEM, and actively pushes away users that aren't interested in female or trans. They think they can harass and punish users who explicitly state in their profiles they are not interested in fem or trans, as if we are making a transphobic statement, by saying we are not sexually attracted to members of those communities. From my personal experience: I had a simple line on my profile, stating "I am a biological male who is attracted only to other biological males", to which I received a warning saying I had violated community standards, and they edited my profile to remove it.
Grindr is no long a safe or fun space for masculine men who are attracted to other masculine men.
The lack of responses from devs, on any of these posts on their new features website, proves that they don't really care about the community at all. I feel like this grinder feature suggestion thing, is just a sham so they can say look we're doing something... While they completely ignore it, behind their closed doors
It is sad to see them abandon the community that actively built them!
They just need to relabel their app as "grindHer"
An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedThis app was created with the intention of being used by gay MALES. When did this concept change? Why do we now have women of various types, OVERPOPULATING the app? I'm not saying they should be banned, but I still don't want to see or be contacted by women at any time while using an APP FOR GAY MEN.
That said, GRINDR no longer feels like a safe space for GAY MALES. If they no longer wish to SUPPORT the gay MALE community, they need to stop wasting our time, and just say so!
This is not an *inclusivity* issue. This is not a phobia issue.
This is a discrimination issue. Grindr seems to be punishing males for not being attracted women or trans. EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO SEXUAL ATTRACTION PREFERENCES, WITHOUT BEING DISCRIMINATED FOR THEM!! I am in no way required to be attracted to women, or former women. I do not want to be subjected to their presence on an app ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOR GAY MALES! It works like this: "let me browse and see who's around, huh absolutely no I'm attracted to, these all look very feminine and I am not attracted to females, okay back to scruff." They need their own safe space.
Personally, everyone needs to stop messing around with the dumb lgbtqialmnop crap. It's getting rather absurd with the ever increasing letter additions. If we are going to blanket label everyone who isn't straight under one banner, then call it the non-straight community, instant "inclusivity" for everyone.
So odd, I added a link to this thread on my Grindr account, and someone on the admin team altered the link to break it... Hmmm.... >:-(

I have de-leted my account and the app. (Hyphen required, or the automated filter removes the comment.)

Like the equal right to a dating app that actually is my dating pool, and not my political pool. In other words, the lgbtqia banner does not belong in my bedroom.
Also, if you've ever bothered to visit the Grindr app on the Play store, you will find that it is labeled as "Gay dating and Chat" with no mention of lgbtqia anything.
I may be part of the lgbtqia banner, but I am not sexually attracted to anyone but anatomically correct masculine gay men. Again, that banner is strictly a political tool.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tim Tim commentedThis app was in fact started as an app for gay males, with no consideration for other demographics. However, Grindr has gotten money hungry and is now willing to open up the user base. They are hiding behind the idea of inclusivity, and are now actively punishing the original user base that allowed their app to flourish in the first place.
If you make any comments in your profile, that you are attracted to only males, your account will be flagged as breaking community standards. If you make any comments in your profile, that you are unwilling to communicate with anyone who isn't male, your account will be flagged as breaking community standards.
Basically as a gay male, if I try to connect with nothing but gay men, Grindr will flag me as breaking community standards.
I'm sorry, I'm a part of the gay male community, I am not a part of the trans or female communities. Given the fact that the purpose of this app, is really just to find sex (don't be a prude, don't beat around the bush) , it absolutely makes no sense for these two communities to be forced to blend. This isn't the place for that, this is one of the few places where segregation is okay.
Just because the world at Large is opening up to trans, doesn't mean that we are going to start seeing trans men in public male locker rooms. Planet fitness isn't going to suddenly allow it. It's within the same logic, that this isn't the place to blend the locker room...
