I don’t see the issue here. If the individual chooses not to list their race, so be it. Grindr is primarily a hookup app and people have preferences. If someone’s being harassed, they can report the user. This for sure needs to be a priority.

The premises, based on what we know, for removing the filter is rooted in an assumption this creates “racism”. Which is absurd. There are filters that can be easily argued bring about body shaming, xenophobia, ageism, and other forms of discrimination. Why ask for your ethnicity as a profile statistic if you can’t filter on it. This app was generated to allow a community a safe space to connect with those they share common likes. Not a space that gives into heterosexual pressure. There are other issues this app faces that needs addressed.
