You prove my point. Any reference you make to "family, umbrella, fragmenting" is an excuse to veer off into divisive identity politics.
This app is supposed to serve our sexual attractions, not political groupings and agendas.Stop telling us how to think, act and vote.

Be honest. They are perfectly capable of fendiing for themselves. They choose to latch onto LGB spaces for political reasons and convenience. Nothing more, nothing less.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedWe should all invade Translr, make transphobic comments on our profiles and messages like the STR8 do to us on Grindr, demand that the app rebrand itself as more inclusive of gay men, all while accusing them of being homophobic. Give them a taste of their own medicine.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedEver notice that the trans and trans-chasers started to flock over to Grindr right after Craigslist shut down its personals section? CL even had several trans categories (t4m, m4t, etc.) that were separate from men-seeking-men (m4m). Where was all the outrage, bullying, and gaslighting from the trans community THEN like we are seeing NOW? The vast majority of GAY MEN (sexual orientation) are not on Grindr looking for trans/trans-chasers (gender identity), so it makes sense to create separate sections for the two groups.

You lost all credibility by including gender. You do realize that the vast majority of Grindr's users are GAY MEN, right? I.e., cis men attracted to other cis men. You are seriously trying to tell us that we all need to include women and female-presenting men in our dating/sexual choices, otherwise we are prejudiced? GTFOH with your nonsense and stop trying to police other people's sexual orientation.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedPorn videos and websites have had separate "ethnic" categories for DECADES. Where has all the outrage been over that? That's right, it's all new FAKE outrage so that you hypocrites get the attention and validation that you desperately crave on social media. Nothing more, nothing less. It's getting old and you sound pathetic. Get a hobby or something.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedThis is asinine.
People are going to "discriminate" no matter which filters you take away. Height weight age build facial features, etc. Be honest with yourselves... we all have a certain physical type we're looking for at any given moment. At least we do as healthy CIS MALES. Sometimes I feel like all the complainers are those so unattractive that not even their own ethnicity wants them, cis women, and/or bored trolls. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedThey changed it for woke points and profits. Nothing more, nothing less. More unwanted profiles on the limited grid is more reason for you to upgrade to a premium account. It's the same reason why Grindr hasn't added a gender filter. We, as GAY MEN attracted to OTHER MEN, are all supposed to want to see trans take over our grid while also putting up with the homophobic "ts only / no men" tranny chaser profiles that come with them.

Could sexual attraction be based on prejudice and/or racism? Sure it can and is likely due in part to long-term systemic issues, but also due to male sexuality in that we need to be physically attracted to our partners for any kind of healthy sex/relationship to work. Does removing an ethnicity filter on a hookup app solve that problem? Not in any meaningful way. It just adds frustration, creates resentment and wastes everyone's time. Besides, this is not the place to fight the systemic battle, as it comes across as POLICING PEOPLE'S BEDROOM/DATING ACTIVITIES which creates a slippery slope back to eras (at least in the US, some still apply in other countries) with laws that ban homosexuality, interracial marriage, etc.

Then report them to Grindr, block, and move on with your life! A filter (or lack of) is not going to stop asshole behavior. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedMixed black guy here. I used the ethnicity filter all the time when it was available because my SEXUAL mood changed on a daily basis. Some days I wanted Latino, other days Arab, blah blah blah. How does that harm anyone? Does that make me racist? I wasn't openly telling people or posting on my profile that I'm not into their ethnicity. THAT'S where the discrimation problem truly starts and ends on this app and is what Grindr should really be focusing on. Taking away the filter just clutters the grid and is not going to change anyone's preferences. Besides, everyone had the option of not using the filter if it bothered them that much. Too many of you forget that Grindr is a for-profit business first and foremost, not a "pillar of our community" or any other virtuous PR nonsense.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedJust stop. You know Grindr is not going to add more filters. It would mean less money for them because you are no longer wasting time sifting through non-matching profiles. They will just keep adding more options to the useless tribes and tags feature to make all the simpletons happy.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedGrindr is not going to change anything. Think about it... fewer filters means there is a higher number of "non-matching" profiles on your grid. That means you are SPENDING MORE TIME on the app sifting through non-matching profiles = more money from advertisers + higher incentive for users to upgrade to a more expensive plan for a larger grid. You think Grindr is ever going to bring back filters and give up these new profits? Fat chance! You've all been duped in the name of social justice while Grindr rakes in the profits AND woke points. Remember, Grindr is in business to make money, not to make you feel better about yourselves or make the app more efficient! Next to go will be the age/height/weight filters because those are "discriminatory" as well.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedBring back the filter and stop politicizing sexual attraction. No one owes anyone a date or sex if they are not interested! The app is less efficient with more profiles cluttering the grid and paid members (Xtra, Unlimited) were never reimbursed for the reduced features.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedThe difference is that ethnicity filters do not convey discriminatory language to others, whereas stating "no (insert ethnicity)" does. It's like walking into a bar and only approaching the people that you are attracted to versus holding up a sign saying "do not talk to me if you are (insert ethnicity)". One is socially acceptable, the other is not.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedPlease bring back the ethnicity filter! As a "person of color", having an ethnicity filter is absolutely NOT racist. Everyone has a sexual preference and as long as bigoted/racist statements are not on someone's profile, what's the problem? Stop using inclusivity as an excuse. This app is for personal connections, not employment/housing.

God no! Please just get the trans out of here. None of us gay men asked for nor want them or their admirers taking up our grid space. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedNope, pass. No need to fuel the narcissistic Instagram culture of showing off your "favorited" count. This isn't a popularity contest.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedGrindr used to have an HIV status filter option, but I believe removed it as a social justice/virtue signal move to appear to be more "inclusive". Good luck getting them to bring it back, as it would mean less profits for the company.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented.Never share your phone number with anyone before meeting in person. Why can't they just text you on the app? And maybe you should have blocked your number before calling him (*67). If they're that insistent on getting your number it's probably a scam/psycho

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedMaybe I'm doing something wrong, but as of a few weeks ago, any location map that someone sends to me in the chat, nothing happens when I click on it. Whereas before it would launch the default maps app (Google Maps) and show a scrollable map.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI am into hairy and want to be able to filter for these profiles on the grid. The problem is that even though "hairy" is checked on my profile filter, I still end up seeing profiles that list "hairy" in addition to one or more of my unchecked tribes. For example, if my tribes filter has "hairy" checked and "twink" unchecked, the grid will show profiles of twinks who list "hairy, twink" on their tribes, which does not make any sense.
Can you please fix this, maybe by creating an option to both include AND exclude any combination of tribes that the user wants to see? For example, "include profiles that only list hairy and jock on their tribes and exclude profiles that list any other tribes".

Easy... FILTERS!!!
There's a time and place for social justice movements and political ideologies, but it's certainly not on a hookup app.
