    We should all invade Translr, make transphobic comments on our profiles and messages like the STR8 do to us on Grindr, demand that the app rebrand itself as more inclusive of gay men, all while accusing them of being homophobic. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

    Ever notice that the trans and trans-chasers started to flock over to Grindr right after Craigslist shut down its personals section? CL even had several trans categories (t4m, m4t, etc.) that were separate from men-seeking-men (m4m). Where was all the outrage, bullying, and gaslighting from the trans community THEN like we are seeing NOW? The vast majority of GAY MEN (sexual orientation) are not on Grindr looking for trans/trans-chasers (gender identity), so it makes sense to create separate sections for the two groups.

    "Fight for inclusion"? "Erect borders?" This is a hookup app, not a United Nations summit. Keep your political agenda out of our bedrooms.

    You're right!!! Just checked and there's already dozens of apps that are exclusively for trans. All of Grindr's talk about inclusiveness blah blah and letting EVERYONE on this app is just pure greed to get as much $$$ as possible. They don't give a shit anymore about the core users, gay men.

    It's sickening how so many trans and their "STR8" chasers not only invade gay men's every last remaining space but are openly homophobic in the process.

    It's very simple. Add an option to select 1) your gender and 2) the gender that you prefer to see on the grid. (I am a _____ looking for a ________).

    For example: M4M, M4TW, TW4M, TM4TW, and so on where Man = M, Trans Woman = TW, Trans Man = TM, etc.

    That way everybody gets matched up with their gender preference on one app. Why has this not already been done? Who would complain that this is "discriminatory" or "transphobic" on a freaking SEX HOOKUP app?!?!?

    Oh please, stop the theatrics. Every other dating/hookup app has a way to filter out the "gender" that you represent AND the gender that you seek (ex. I am a "fill-in the blank" looking for a "fill in the blank"... m4m, m4t, t4t, etc.). Stop throwing out the Nazi/Jew argument as if it has any relevance here. Until you can explain in a coherent, logical manner why GAY MEN and TRANS need to be combined onto a single DATING/HOOKUP app, your comments are horse shit.

    Us GAY MEN don't want to see trans, nor their "Str8" admirers, on our grid. For fuck's sake, stop the bullshit. Put them on a separate grid or add a way to filter them out.

    Trans and Str8 take up space on the limited grid, you dumb ass. What part of that don't you understand? We don't give a shit how much fake boobs and shenis they score. Get them off the f-ing grid.

    If you truly want to present yourself as a woman, why aren't you on the myriad of straight dating apps instead of here? Why don't you go harass and shame the straight men on those apps for not accepting you instead of barging into our space and dictating how we're supposed to accommodate you?

    Exactly how is adding a filter to easily find your preferred "gender" on this app transphobia, discrimination, or espousing hate? Are you suggesting that we, as gay men, need to change our sexual orientation to fit someone else's agenda? Please be logical and rational in your response. Otherwise, you are clearly trolling with no basis to back up your claims.

    That is an ignorant response. Blocks are limited unless you pay $$$$$ to upgrade. It's time to allow the gay male and trans communities to have separate sections or at least a way to filter each other out.

    I've traveled all over and, unfortunately, my home city is an urban area with a disproportionately large trans and trans-seeking population that takes up a significant amount of the limited grid space. This problem just does not seem to exist in most other cities, not even other major urban areas. I suspect those saying "just block" live in an area with a tiny trans population, so it's no big deal for them to block or ignore.

    Grindr is a FOR PROFIT business. All the virtue signaling and inclusive talk on their marketing ads and press releases are just distractions to keep you all from noticing the removal of features while the price keeps going up.

    In the meantime, all you trans -keep up your delusions in thinking that any of us gay men give a shit about you or want you invading our spaces. You forced your way into our orgs and use manipulative tactics to shame us if we dare question any of your nonsense. Your own separate dating/hookup app can't come soon enough.

    As evidenced in the "Investor relations" screen shots that Lexi provided, Grindr is purely profit driven.

    Unfortunately for us cis gay men looking for other cis gay men (Grindr's original target market), that translates into letting the entire LGBTQ+ population invade our space and limiting the filters which in turn entices us to upgrade to a more expensive plan to get a slightly less limited experience.

    So Lexi all your pro-inclusive LGBTQ+ on Grindr talk is a bunch of hogwash. Assuming you are not a cis gay man, you are not on here because cis gay men welcome you with open inclusive arms. It all boils down to Grindr increasing its profits.

    Our sentiments about colonizers invading our space still stand.

    @Michael ALAM

    The vast majority of gay men are NOT looking for trans and Grindr refuses to add a feature that lets users filter on their preferred gender. That's the problem!

    Are you really that dense?

    Sb - damn, I would think an outspoken transgender advocate like yourself would know better than to invade a gay man's space and spout off homophobic vitriol by describing us as "queer". Queer is a hateful slur that not all of us buy into, no matter how you try to re-define it for US to fit YOUR agenda.

    Just a reminder to everyone, the trans community only recently started to flock over to Grindr around 2018 when Craigslist shut down its personals section. At the time, Craigslist actually had "trans seeking" / "seeking trans" sections that were SEPARATE from the "men 4 men" section, and that separation WORKED for everyone. There were no complaints about it not being inclusive enough or any other such nonsense. Grindr actually took 10 steps backwards by trying to make its once-upon-a-time dating/hookup app for men into a catch all "safe space" for everyone. No progress at all.

    @e e

    You lost all credibility by including gender. You do realize that the vast majority of Grindr's users are GAY MEN, right? I.e., cis men attracted to other cis men. You are seriously trying to tell us that we all need to include women and female-presenting men in our dating/sexual choices, otherwise we are prejudiced? GTFOH with your nonsense and stop trying to police other people's sexual orientation.

    Porn videos and websites have had separate "ethnic" categories for DECADES. Where has all the outrage been over that? That's right, it's all new FAKE outrage so that you hypocrites get the attention and validation that you desperately crave on social media. Nothing more, nothing less. It's getting old and you sound pathetic. Get a hobby or something.

    This is asinine.
    People are going to "discriminate" no matter which filters you take away. Height weight age build facial features, etc. Be honest with yourselves... we all have a certain physical type we're looking for at any given moment. At least we do as healthy CIS MALES. Sometimes I feel like all the complainers are those so unattractive that not even their own ethnicity wants them, cis women, and/or bored trolls.

    They changed it for woke points and profits. Nothing more, nothing less. More unwanted profiles on the limited grid is more reason for you to upgrade to a premium account. It's the same reason why Grindr hasn't added a gender filter. We, as GAY MEN attracted to OTHER MEN, are all supposed to want to see trans take over our grid while also putting up with the homophobic "ts only / no men" tranny chaser profiles that come with them.

    @beeswax business

    Could sexual attraction be based on prejudice and/or racism? Sure it can and is likely due in part to long-term systemic issues, but also due to male sexuality in that we need to be physically attracted to our partners for any kind of healthy sex/relationship to work. Does removing an ethnicity filter on a hookup app solve that problem? Not in any meaningful way. It just adds frustration, creates resentment and wastes everyone's time. Besides, this is not the place to fight the systemic battle, as it comes across as POLICING PEOPLE'S BEDROOM/DATING ACTIVITIES which creates a slippery slope back to eras (at least in the US, some still apply in other countries) with laws that ban homosexuality, interracial marriage, etc.

    Then report them to Grindr, block, and move on with your life! A filter (or lack of) is not going to stop asshole behavior.

    Mixed black guy here. I used the ethnicity filter all the time when it was available because my SEXUAL mood changed on a daily basis. Some days I wanted Latino, other days Arab, blah blah blah. How does that harm anyone? Does that make me racist? I wasn't openly telling people or posting on my profile that I'm not into their ethnicity. THAT'S where the discrimation problem truly starts and ends on this app and is what Grindr should really be focusing on. Taking away the filter just clutters the grid and is not going to change anyone's preferences. Besides, everyone had the option of not using the filter if it bothered them that much. Too many of you forget that Grindr is a for-profit business first and foremost, not a "pillar of our community" or any other virtuous PR nonsense.

    Just stop. You know Grindr is not going to add more filters. It would mean less money for them because you are no longer wasting time sifting through non-matching profiles. They will just keep adding more options to the useless tribes and tags feature to make all the simpletons happy.

    Anonymous commented  ·

    Grindr is not going to change anything. Think about it... fewer filters means there is a higher number of "non-matching" profiles on your grid. That means you are SPENDING MORE TIME on the app sifting through non-matching profiles = more money from advertisers + higher incentive for users to upgrade to a more expensive plan for a larger grid. You think Grindr is ever going to bring back filters and give up these new profits? Fat chance! You've all been duped in the name of social justice while Grindr rakes in the profits AND woke points. Remember, Grindr is in business to make money, not to make you feel better about yourselves or make the app more efficient! Next to go will be the age/height/weight filters because those are "discriminatory" as well.

    Anonymous commented  ·

    Bring back the filter and stop politicizing sexual attraction. No one owes anyone a date or sex if they are not interested! The app is less efficient with more profiles cluttering the grid and paid members (Xtra, Unlimited) were never reimbursed for the reduced features.

    The difference is that ethnicity filters do not convey discriminatory language to others, whereas stating "no (insert ethnicity)" does. It's like walking into a bar and only approaching the people that you are attracted to versus holding up a sign saying "do not talk to me if you are (insert ethnicity)". One is socially acceptable, the other is not.

    An error occurred while saving the comment

    Please bring back the ethnicity filter! As a "person of color", having an ethnicity filter is absolutely NOT racist. Everyone has a sexual preference and as long as bigoted/racist statements are not on someone's profile, what's the problem? Stop using inclusivity as an excuse. This app is for personal connections, not employment/housing.

    Grindr used to have an HIV status filter option, but I believe removed it as a social justice/virtue signal move to appear to be more "inclusive". Good luck getting them to bring it back, as it would mean less profits for the company.

    .Never share your phone number with anyone before meeting in person. Why can't they just text you on the app? And maybe you should have blocked your number before calling him (*67). If they're that insistent on getting your number it's probably a scam/psycho

    Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but as of a few weeks ago, any location map that someone sends to me in the chat, nothing happens when I click on it. Whereas before it would launch the default maps app (Google Maps) and show a scrollable map.

    I am into hairy and want to be able to filter for these profiles on the grid. The problem is that even though "hairy" is checked on my profile filter, I still end up seeing profiles that list "hairy" in addition to one or more of my unchecked tribes. For example, if my tribes filter has "hairy" checked and "twink" unchecked, the grid will show profiles of twinks who list "hairy, twink" on their tribes, which does not make any sense.

    Can you please fix this, maybe by creating an option to both include AND exclude any combination of tribes that the user wants to see? For example, "include profiles that only list hairy and jock on their tribes and exclude profiles that list any other tribes".
