   Keep It Simple, Stupid...

   For some reason, the people who run Grindr want to make their users angry. Every update, they fix one problem, but create five more. You (somehow) still have the most users; this app should be great! Instead, it's a bonfire of problems...

   • The grid...
   • Show me the people in order of distance. That's it! The latest update is now inserting people miles away into the top two/three rows. If they don't have distance on, you've no idea they're miles away.
   • Show people who have boosted in a different colour, or something. Again, I'm not interested in people far away.
   • Enough with the "for you", "explore" in the main grid. No-one wants it. There is a whole "explore" part of the app if I want to view people outside of my area.
   • If I "hide" a profile, it just limits even further the amount of profiles I now see on the grid. I should always get 99 profiles (in the free version at least), regardless of how many I've hidden/blocked. Instead, I now only have ~70 because of people I've hidden.

   • Let us gay men filter out trans women. They're all fake accounts anyway.

   • Block vs hide...
     Another pointless feature designed to push you into upgrading. Let us fully block people again.

   • Favourites tab...
     Bring it back. I don't want to have to keep changing other filters just to see all of my favourites. Again, KISS applies here.

   • Right now...
     This really needs a confirmation popup before starting a "session". It's in a place that's too easily clicked accidentally.

   • Profile inconsistency...
     The online and favourite markers, and distance values aren't consistent across the app when viewing the same profile, e.g. between the grid and the messages tab, and elsewhere as well.

   • Spam accounts...
     You really need to implement some sort of verification system. I'm getting taps and messages, apparently from hundreds of miles away, from clear bots spamming other websites and OF accounts, many times a day. Maybe even something as simple as getting a user to verify their email address?

   • Adverts...
     I understand you have to make money. But forcing a full screen ad every other minute when you're just scrolling, or even typing a message, is infuriating. I do like the new "watch an ad to unlock read receipts" feature, however. Get rid of the random popups, and implement more of these watch-an-ad-for-an-extra-feature. I'm sure you'd make more money from higher quality views this way.

   • Testing before an update...
     I'm not convinced you even have a testing department. Obvious bugs that just shouldn't exist, and features completely broken in every single update.

   • Subscription prices...
     I will never consider upgrading, when the basic features of the app rarely work as intended. You just can't trust that any extra features would work as well, and reading reviews, they don't. Prices are way too high anyway. £6 for an hour on "right now". Ridiculous...

   I could go on further, but I've stuck to the main points. I'd be surprised if this gets read, but I've tried to be constructive.

2. Consolidate HIV status

   The HIV status has the various expected options in a spin wheel where you can only select one option. The health practices component allows you to select multiple options from condoms, DoxyPEP, negative on PrEP, HIV undetectable, and prefer to discuss as options. I think that HIV undetectable is a duplicate from the Status component, and easy to select in error because of how the component is Ux’d. Led me to have conflicting information: Negative, on PrEP, I’m on PrEP, I’m on DoxyPep, and I’m HIV undetectable.

3. Enlarge mentioned photo from album

   When you send an album to someone, and then the other person mentions or likes a photo in the album you’ll see the thumbnail of the photo that’s being liked. It’s impossible to then see what photo it is, you can’t enlarge it or go to the given photo in the album.

6. Do not reset the filters

   Is it possible that each time I open the app the filters stay as I set them? I am TIRED get back to the default settings and see profile I obviously have no intention to see because I have SET FILTERS.

   Each update is really worse than the previous one and there is one once a week, it's like you collectively brainstorm about how to make this app more and and more unfriendly to use.

7. BUG: Doesn’t conceal profiles that block you from right now

   Hi, I’ve noticed from two interactions now that if you are blocked by a person using a right now session, you can still see their profile even as chats, taps and views are erased, in the right now menu, from their you can read chats and their profile despite being blocked.

9. No respect for users, blatant attempt at a money grab as Grindr dilutes the grid with fake profiles

   Grinders treatment of its users has become is disrespectful as any app I can recall. Generation of multiple fake profiles that are duplicated every 40 to 50 mi in the grid serve no purpose whatsoever besides diluting the grid in The continued lack of respect grinder has for its users and the obscene level of greed this company embraces. $20 a month for an app is a lot. $40 is insane but people pay it myself included. Not because it is worth it but just because the app is so fucking terrible. If you don't have it it becomes basically unusable. And that is referring to the app going back a few years today. Not having one of the premium subscriptions means the app is no more than an ad generating POS. I cannot believe unmitigated Gall of this company intentionally create dozens of fake profiles. Repeat them every 40 or 50 mi. They're not selling anything. They're not spam. They are designed to look on the surface like real profiles but they're obviously not. Brian are said they wanted to eliminate spam and they wanted to get rid of all this other stuff. Well at least the spam was real and not made by the company who made the app for no reason besides making the user experience as unpleasant and frustrating as possible to try to force people into spending money on it. I've paid $40 a month for quite some time more out of habit than anything. 0 everybody has suffered through this garbage and these terrible clunky apps. This terrible redesigns apps crashing constantly. Nothing working right. It just being nothing but a complete klusterfuk but people still pay for it. Thank you for encouraging me with your there's a complete lack of respect for your customer base along with rewarding Customer loyalty by intentionally making your product worse knowingly creating junk profiles just to force people to have to pay for your product to use it. I'd always thought pretty low of the company but I hoped in time that they would improve and thought by beta testing and paying for it and trying to be involved. Maybe I could provide some insight or offer anything to help improve an app that has been around for a long time consistently gets worse. But I see now that that I was stupid and played for a fool by this company. Just like everybody else that's paying for it and using it. I for one will not ever buy a subscription or give them another dime. In fact, I think the best route will be to delete all of my data from the app and then uninstall it and find something else. Paying $500 a year. This company work at making their product as poor as they can in order to try to get people who aren't paying for it to pay for it is unconscionable. Everybody's ripping consumers off these days. We all know that but this is so egregious and insulting that I for one would rather not use anything than endorse this company. Your loyalty is noted the onger you've been a customer and the more you have paid Grindr. They document it because the more you give them and the more loyal you are, the more they spit in your face. The audacity and complete disregard for the customers who have made this trash app. What it is should be repaid back to grinder in kind ideally with nobody paying for it anymore and them either selling it shutting it down or making at least some semblance of a working, scalable product. Seems like it would be a great place to work. Go in everyday instead of improving things do your best to find ways to make a bad product worse. Collect your check and tell your customers to go fuck themselves

    Hi. I noticed that many people block others instead of just saying they are not interested. In fact it’s a kind of bullying in a different way. The block feature supposed to be a last resort option when bullying occurs or if someone harasses someone or if someone doesn’t stop to send messages even when they were ask to stop doing that.
    My idea is to limit the number of blocks one can apply in 24 hours. Any number between 2-5 is reasonable.
    People should tel other people they are not interested in them. If the don’t want to see them again on the grid, we’ll, they can try the hide function.

    Notifications do not work. Chats are unstable since the cloud transition. Search has been removed entirely. Ads are placed to force accidental taps. Popups open unsafe websites without interaction.

    This app continues to decline because it holds a monopoly. If users had a viable alternative, Grindr would not survive a week.

    Grindr is no longer a platform. It is a trap. It feeds off isolation, exploits its users for ad revenue, and delivers the bare minimum to keep itself running. The developers are not maintaining a community. They are running a slot machine with profile pictures.

13. All my notes in favorites are gone!

    Optimal use for Favorites should be for every Grindr user, as it was before.

    All my notes to my favorites (I put a lot of effort in) are gone. Hence the app is less functional and less safe. Unbelievable that Grindr did this.

    You changed favorites and taps! And not for the better.

    Really disappointing. Bring favorites and my notes back!

14. Stop taking features away and making them part of XTRA

    You’ve taken away so many features and made them paid-for

    -Age search used to have no minimum range. You could search by individual years, now it’s a 5 year range minimum.
    -You were able to talk to THREE people on explore. Now it’s one.
    -The number of profiles shown before you need XTRA to see more, has been reduced.
    -Ads are actually out of control. Literally every two seconds I get an ad
    -You aren’t doing anything about bots. At all.

    You are enshittifying your app for money. We all notice.

16. Repeated bug: profile photos being deleted when adding new photo

    Hello Grindr Support,

    I’m contacting you again about an ongoing technical issue that has already happened multiple times.

    When I try to add a new photo to my profile, the app randomly deletes one or more of my existing profile photos without warning. This is NOT the first time this has happened, and I have already contacted support about this issue before.

    This is extremely frustrating and makes it difficult to maintain my profile. I am not manually deleting these photos — the app is doing it on its own.

    Device details:
    - Device: iPhone 16 pro
    - iOS version: [16]
    - Grindr app version: [25.21.0 ]

    Please escalate this issue or let me know what is being done to fix it, because this keeps happening and has not been resolved.

17. Distance away, first people 12-16 miles away (hate it)

    Not sure if you all did the “distance” away (first people are 12-17 miles away) to try and mix up who is close by to you, but I absolutely hate it. Especially if they don’t have the distance feature on, I don’t know if they are close to me or many many miles away. I enjoy getting connected with people close to me, not far away, if I wanted that, I would search for people farther away. Please change this feature back, myself and a lot of people hate this. I really enjoyed Grindr over scruff, but because of this distance “issue” I have started using scruff more to chat with people close to me, until it is fixed.

    Travel feature sets location to an area that is incorrect. For example, Provincetown, Mass changes to South Boston. Provincetown is either a 90 minute ferry or 2 hour car drive from South Boston.

19. Grindr not uploading pictures to the profile

    Grindr is not loading photos to the profile correctly.
    I have 5 different face pictures I use that I offer swap out for others if I take one I like. I’m uploading the photo, however when I submit after the thumbnail position selection, it takes me back to the photo grid and the image is not there. It’s just a gray box.
