1. “Not interested” tap option

   Taps. Currently we have the flame, devil and friendly hello tap option. Why don’t we have a “not interested” tap option too? A lot of people have problems with being ignored by others when someone isn’t interested in them. However, people also cannot be bothered to reject others with words - it’s too much effort. This update to the tap mechanism could kill two birds with one stone. It makes it less time/energy consuming to reject people with just a click of a button. AND the guys who feel invalidated when being ignored, can get an answer - instead of pestering folk for answers. I believe this is pretty efficient and is better for everyone’s mental health.

3. Prevent people from outside of your age filter from messaging you

   Not being sexually attracted to males or females does not make me a sexist.

   Not being sexually attracted to certain ages does not make me an ageist.

   Personally I prefer people around my age and I'm tired of people double my age messaging me. I understand age gaps don't matter to some folks, so please give everyone an OPTION for us that do care to prevent people from outside our age filters from messaging us. And yes, I did specify my age range preference on my profile.

8. Fix the filters for straight trans women

   The new gender filter is... well I see what you were trying to do with it. However, it screwed over straight trans women even more than before.

   How am I supposed to browse straight/bi men who are into people like me? All I can do is say I’m looking for “men” but of course it’s a gay app so the vast majority aren’t here for trans women.

   It’s absolutely useless for me to browse a grid of men who 9/10 times are not even into my boobs. And I’m sorry but I downright refuse to hit on gay men looking for one of them to be bi or straight on an app where they come to meet other men primarily.

   At least before I could check out the trans tribe as a lot of cishet and cisbi guys would put that in their bio in order to signal they were into women.

   This is doubly bad for stealth trans women as it pressures them to publicly out themselves on the app in order to get men hitting on them, as waiting for them to message is the only reliable way to find the needles in the haystack.

   Why not at least allow me to filter out any guy who isn’t looking for women?? Super disappointing.

9. Not enough inclusivity

   I think perhaps Grindr should rebrand into something less aggressive, like Findr, then also should be a site where everyone can have an opportunity to find friendship, sex, dates, whatever else, in the same fast fashion of IM and taps, with expanded filters to narrow down what we are looking for including heteronormative relationships, bisexual relationships, fetishists, gender-fluid relationships, and really sell the idea that everyone everywhere can find the gratification we gays seek out in the same fashion, without making people who are not "gay" men only feel excluded or shamed for their particular sexual interest. While keeping within the confines of law of course, all people should feel they can be should they choose to be, sexually desired. There truly is someone out there for everyone, and the more that idea is spread, regardless of preference I feel that deviance for deviance sake will die out. People won't have to feel like they're doing something wrong and resort to expressing themselves in the shadows for fear of being shamed in the mainstream. We all like sex, we all like to feel wanted, and we all need a safe, welcoming, inclusive app to do that in. Grindr has a great formula that many people have found enticing, but hasn't had the platform for making said people (bisexuals for instance, who want both men and women at the same time) feel they can find both men and women who are interested at the same time, in the same place. 11. No ethnicity filter

    I will not be renewing my membership once it expires. I’ve only had one 3 month membership, and that is long enough to see that it was a waste of money. While I live in an area that is predominantly POC, I’m not. I have many friends of color, but I’m simply not attracted to them in a sexual way. Some POC even agree with me that that they have their own preferences. I would like to be able to filter out the profiles that I’m not going to look at anyway. There is nothing racist about this. I’m just tired of profiles I’m not interested in flooding up my grid. BRING BACK ETHNICITY FILTER!!!

13. Undo the 'gender filter' changes made on 26 April 2023.

    On 26 April 2023 you removed the 'Trans Tribe' filter and replaced it with the 'Gender filter.'

    I'm an Xtra subscriber and you haven't 'replaced' anything. The 'Trans Tribe' filter is gone and there is no 'gender filter' showing anywhere in my app, so you haven't replaced one with the other, you've removed it and anything resembling it within Grindr Xtra.

    I can only assume, therefore, that you've locked it behind the Grindr Unlimited tier and expect us to pay £25.99 per month or £311.88 annually to unlock that core feature - something I refuse to do because it's frankly extortionate. You can get Amazon Prime, Netflix, Paramount+ and Disney+ for a year for that sort of money!

    People being unable to find their desired type, following a huge influx of CIS and trans women to Grindr over the last few years, has been a recurring complaint on these suggestions forums and in the Google Play Store reviews for Grindr which, two to three years ago, had a considerably higher rating.

    Grindr seems to have decided that, rather than address those concerns and complaints, they would instead capitalise on them.

    Space on the grid is very limited. As a gay man, I would routinely use the 'Trans Tribe' filter to filter and then block CIS and trans women, to restrict my grid and who shows up to being exclusively men. I can no longer do that and, despite paying £12.99 for a month of Grindr Xtra, I can't search by gender either because the option is not there, without paying an additional and extortionate £25.99 to upgrade a second time to Grindr Unlimited.

    I also have concerns about the business practice of taking a feature that is available as part of the Xtra subscription and then locking it behind a higher tier after people have paid for the lower tier, including the feature you've just restricted behind a higher pay wall. It has a feeling of fraud, like a scam.

    A dealership cannot sell an all inclusive, parts and labour warranty on a car for a month and then, one week in, change the terms to exclude the engine. You can't do this either and I am referring it to Google Play.

    You need to make the gender filter available to Xtra subscribers or reintroduce the 'Trans Tribe.'

    You also previously claimed that the ethnicity filter was racist and offensive and removed it (I don't see a problem with sexual preferences). Following your logic, is the new pay walled gender filter not offensive and sexist and/or transphobic by using exactly the same reasoning, logic and thought processes that resulted in the ethnicity filter being offensive and removed?

    If you allow a gender filter, then you concede that sexual preferences do exist. If you concede that sexual preferences do exist, then you concede that on that same basis and by that same logic, people may find certain ethnicities to be more attractive to themselves personally, as a preference (for example I am Caucasian, but I find myself attracted to Middle Eastern/Arab men more than any other group - without excluding anyone - that's just the type I gravitate towards!). I can't help that I'm attracted to darker skin, darker eyes, dark hair and, more often than not, a lot of body hair. It's no different to the way that I cannot help that I am not attracted to CIS or trans women. I'm not sexist because I'm gay.

    Ethnicity filters should be reintroduced and at Grindr Xtra level. Gender filters should be lowered to free Grindr level, as they are arguably the most core features that all users need. It's also the feature most likely to be used to gauge the eyes out of a captive audience and it's open to abuse as such.

    Today's changes give the impression that Grindr has finally lost the plot and all common sense. It crosses a line that is going to alienate a lot of customers. For years you've pushed the community, testing our limits and resolve by gradually locking more and more features behind pay walls.

    That said, this is a step too far and I hope there is appropriate backlash.

    I really think there needs to be another section (FREE section btw) for actual dating. I do think there are enough people that want it for that purpose but it’s frustrating when so many do not read profiles and send unsolicited pictures and graphic messages. Like, yeah those are fun SOMETIMES, but I’d like to be able to find a man that is interested in dating and is generally near by. The other apps for queer dating have the users spread so far out that outside of a big city, you’re gunna be looking at guys 50+ miles away. Let’s have a real dating section, shall we?
