There needs to be a section for actual dating
I really think there needs to be another section (FREE section btw) for actual dating. I do think there are enough people that want it for that purpose but it’s frustrating when so many do not read profiles and send unsolicited pictures and graphic messages. Like, yeah those are fun SOMETIMES, but I’d like to be able to find a man that is interested in dating and is generally near by. The other apps for queer dating have the users spread so far out that outside of a big city, you’re gunna be looking at guys 50+ miles away. Let’s…

No ethnicity filter
I will not be renewing my membership once it expires. I’ve only had one 3 month membership, and that is long enough to see that it was a waste of money. While I live in an area that is predominantly POC, I’m not. I have many friends of color, but I’m simply not attracted to them in a sexual way. Some POC even agree with me that that they have their own preferences. I would like to be able to filter out the profiles that I’m not going to look at anyway. There is nothing racist about this. It should be required to at least post a basic profile. It's ok if people would rather not post pictures,but it should be mandatory to at a minimum what your looking for or your body type.

What are you looking for TODAY?
Every time someone logs in to Grindr they have something different in mind. This is why the static category of “looking for” is not useful. If you were to ask as soon as you open, you can better connect people looking for the same thing at that specific time. For example, today I may be looking just for a chat, but tomorrow I may be looking for hookups. And even further, I can be looking for hookup right now or hookup later. Deprioritize uninterested users in cascade
When users views your profile with no further interaction or you’re left on read by another user, the cascade should move that individual down or out of your cascade to make room for those profiles with no previous profile activity. The “mark recently chatted” , read receipts, and “viewed me” metadata should help inform this potentially new “feature” that is automatic for all users. I have user stories written if we need to go there.

Remove all blank profiles
I have a lot a chats from obviously scheming profiles and obvious catfish profiles more than actual people who are real but it is just disgraceful for them thinking is safe or healthy to prey on people who are just struggling to date and even if they want to keep their own identity safe that's fine but they shouldn't have bothered with this app to begin with.
