2. Change it back

7. Improve Cross-City Browsing & Messaging to Increase Engagement

   I’d like to suggest an improvement regarding cross-city browsing and messaging.

   Currently, limiting users to messaging only one person per day in other cities makes it very difficult to build meaningful connections — especially for people who travel, are considering relocation, or are genuinely open to long-distance relationships.

   Many users don’t only look for immediate local meetups. Some are searching for something serious, and restricting communication reduces the chances of forming real connections.

   To improve engagement and competitiveness, I suggest:

   • Allowing more flexible messaging in other cities (even with reasonable limits)
   • Improving the browsing system so profiles can refresh dynamically
   • Giving users more control over distance and discovery filters

   Other platforms offer more flexible browsing systems, which increases user activity and retention. If users feel restricted, they are more likely to explore alternatives.

   Grindr has the potential to lead not only in local hookups, but also in meaningful connections. A more flexible cross-city system would increase user satisfaction and long-term engagement.

   I don’t have a Grindr account, but I would if there was a BFF section. I hear the girls are annoying the guys looking for a hookup bc there is no specified section for this. The world is better with gays in it and I love and adore my gay BFFs! Will & Grace, Carie and Stanford, Rachel & Kurt, RuPaul and Michelle!     Without making orientation mandatory, free filtering with orientation is difficult, 70% users doesn't have a orientation type and purpose of filtering in useless.

    I am writing as a minority member of the LGBTQ+ community who has been deeply impacted by the removal of the ethnicity filter. Living in a predominantly white area, I have found it increasingly challenging to connect with others who share my cultural background and lived experiences. The filter previously enabled me and many others to create genuine connections and feel a sense of belonging that is often missing offline and within broader dating spaces.

    Please listen to the feedback from minority communities who rely on the app for more than romance—we depend on it for community, solidarity, and understanding.

    They should create a well-defined filter for people who still believe it's possible to find a partner. The problem is that these filters may exist, but they're only available for a fee, and I don't think that's right. Because in the end we are all a community. I also think it would be necessary to add a space for you to define what you like and another for what you don't look for because in life both are valid and it's not applied in Grindr.It's also a good idea to manage your account by having at least two albums, not just one private one. 19. Mandatory sex field and filter

    I am a homosexual male and am only interested in finding members of the same sex, what this app was originally intended for. There are far too many women on the platform claiming to be "boys", "men", etc. This is really disconcerting and the current "gender" filter doesn't help much because it is not mandatory and buggy, I can't even set my "gender" and there are so many options it is just nonsensical and ridiculous. I've restricted it to "men" and "not specified" and, of course, I am still seeing many women trying to entice homosexual men into heterosexual sex.

    Users can select “Meet at” options of My Place, Your Place, Bar, Coffee Shop and Restaurant.
    Although, users are free to express their need or desire for cruising or voyagerism.
    I recommend to implement some new “Meet at” options, such as: Park, Gym, or simply ‘Outdoors’ to help users connecting on a broader scale.
