If they want to help reducing discrimination then why do they let people still pick their race on their Grindr profile? If they want to be inclusive and anti racist they should erase that feature too. But if that is there then bring the freaking ethnicity filter back

reading others' comments here, it's obvious that some commenters are racist. Be that as it maybe, it doesn't change the fact that sexual preference is not related to racism. I'm also attracted to African men but not to indigenous Australian men who have a very different physicality. Unfortunately, african males are infrequent here and I rarely see them for the hundreds of white males that make me completely turned off. The ethnic filter will help many people and even if racism is one's value, that is a personal choice (ignorant though it may be) and Grindr shouldn't be policing choice.

Growing up as a young boy in a region with only white people, I was almost married to a white girl. Only when I moved to a region that exposed me to SEAsian men did I realise my true sexuality. I have many white friends but feel no sexual attraction to them. Please return the ethnicity filter. It's not racism if you're not sexually attracted to your own kind, that's ridiculous to assert!

Not being sexually attracted to males or females does not make me a sexist.

Not being sexually attracted to certain races does not make me a racist.

Not being attracted to certain ages does not make me an ageist.

Please bring back the ethnicty filter. Also, prevent people from outside my age filter from messaging me. I'm tired of people double my age messaging me.

Humans need to share experiences with people like them. The Europeans have shamefully shared their land. Now white people no longer have a land where they can be alone, among themselves. If I pay for an app, it's at least to improve that.

I have a various preferences and it wastes time not being able to filter if I feel horny for one or the other at a particular time. Please hear. Thanks.

Another reason to bring back the Ethnicity Filter... As a White man in a predominantly White neighborhood, maybe I want to Filter-Out White men once in a while.

Just wanted to give my perspective as a Black man. Yes, discriminating based on race, even when it comes to sexual attraction, is racism. There's no way around that.

But racism is not something that will ever go away. Doesn't matter if you ban race filters or segregation, people will be racist regardless.

Banning the race filter actually makes it harder for someone like me, because now my feed is taken up by profiles of people who will never message me and who wouldn't respond if I messaged them. A race filter would make it easier for me to find people who look like me, which is all but impossible now, and the chances of those people being interested in me is a lot higher than the countless white/non-Black men I'm now surrounded by on the app. And I'm sure for non-Black users they wouldn't mind not having to see people with my skin tone on their screen.

All that is to say, please bring back race filters! Apps like Hinge seem to get this need. I think it's actually more harmful to not include it.

Why is this a "black" issue? LOL Plenty of minorities are looking for other minorities. Black guys looking for other black guys, asians looking for other asians, latinos looking for other latinos etc. And having a preference isn't always about fetishization, there can be cultural reasons why you prefer a particular group. Grindr (and Scruff) missed the mark by removing the filter. I understand why they did it, but I think the unintended consequences are worse...meaning if you are looking for other minorities it's much more difficult to do so now. People like what they like and that ethnicity filter needs to come back!

They did have an ethnicity filter, but got rid of it because they wanted to be more inclusive and "modern" due to the BLM movement because apparently people weren't wanting African American men on their suggestions (not trying to be racist, just stating what it said on Google)

Absolutely nothing wrong with being able to filter by ethnicity. If you have so many other options why not ethnicity too. Grindr was awesome in the beginning but lost the plot along the way. Very disappointed.

I just posted a request for this. I am not a racist but I have my personal preference. I believe everyone does! You want to find out something else from Grindr bothersome you should check out their latest additions to the terms and conditions to your private information. It is worded like a train wreck for the simple reason to try and confuse. Most.

They're NOT listening... Every reply I've had in here has been in support of the filter, but Grindr didn't care.

In my view, they're just another corporation milking money with total apathy for what's wanted from those providing the "cash cow"... Myself included of I'm honest.
