Just wanted to give my perspective as a Black man. Yes, discriminating based on race, even when it comes to sexual attraction, is racism. There's no way around that.
But racism is not something that will ever go away. Doesn't matter if you ban race filters or segregation, people will be racist regardless.
Banning the race filter actually makes it harder for someone like me, because now my feed is taken up by profiles of people who will never message me and who wouldn't respond if I messaged them. A race filter would make it easier for me to find people who look like me, which is all but impossible now, and the chances of those people being interested in me is a lot higher than the countless white/non-Black men I'm now surrounded by on the app. And I'm sure for non-Black users they wouldn't mind not having to see people with my skin tone on their screen.
All that is to say, please bring back race filters! Apps like Hinge seem to get this need. I think it's actually more harmful to not include it.
