Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Just like I didn't "choose" to be gay, I don't necessarily choose who or what I am attracted to or much like our sexual position. As there is a stigma against being a bottom, is that filter gonna go away too? That is intended to be an exaggeration but you can understand the point. If you remove the filter, why ask for ethnicity in our profiles?

I like this idea but they took away the ethnicity filter. So, if I was looking for Pacific Islanders, I can't find them. I just have to wait until I stumble on one.

I will not renew my paid acct 2/2 to the filter removal for race preference.

May I ask why you removed the ethnicity filter.

People are going to be racist and fetishize each other regardless. "BLM" is the new "BBC" on profiles. Racism will not decrease by taking our choice away from filtering racists.
And the people who fought for this want to be desired by people who don't desire them. Inconveniencing our filter options isn't changing they're preference.
Allow us who want to date within/outside of races that prefer.

Ok this is insane, i am a pay member, I am a widower of my late Asian husband, I am 54, many of you don't like my preference of Asians men, i am tired of fetting harrassed by Asian guys who call it a fetish, etc. First of all that's just pure insecurity on your part, you don't have a picture or doubt show your face no stats by fear of rejection??? Well i would like to have removed age category, weight category, top or bottom category, then I am asking Grindr to force people to have a real picture change every 6 month, I see the same face from 10 years ago... if you look the same please send me your plastic surgeon! To go back to etnicity it seem out only bother Asians ! It's funny when i am in Asia they love to have that option to look for white men.. does bother me? No... when I go buy milk i buy skim not 3.5% imagine if it was a guessing game because there's no label on it.. so if your Asian stand for yourself put a photo of yourself.. then we could see what we are attracted to and not a guessing game.. I am 54 and i get hard for Asian so sued me...I don't like drugs....I wish there was a option for that... I don't like vanilla sex i like BDSM so once again be mad at me... the next guy that send me nasty messages i will report you, I wish pay member would be listen over the non pay member...by the way what used to be wrong was NO FAT, NO FEM ,NO ASIAN that what used to be... it's when you are saying what you don't like is the real issue. Not a freaking search engine on my preferences. No one should know my preference while i search... we should add a new option, NO GHOSTING....

Honestly I'm a mixed guy and I completely understand the feeling of both arguments but I'm glad they took away the ethnicity filter. It didn't necessarily hurt me but it definitely didn't help me in any way. The gay community is already small enough as it is, which is why I never understand why some guys like to be prejudiced or have certain preference against certain races. Which is their right in their own private life. But on a social platform I think it highly discouraged when certain groups of people are prejudice sexually sometimes. Which honestly some people can't help what you like is what you like. It's just very sad and our community is already small enough as it is, so I am always open to all ages and races. But for those who are so insisted on having the filter back I would fully support the company adding that filter back if they made it a part of a 3rd super premium package which members have to pay just to have that filter. If guys are so interested in looking for those of their own ethnicity then they shouldn't complain about paying for the service on your social platform(grindr). If you want to be prejudiced you shouldn't mind paying for the service to do so.

This should be addressed and out back as this is nothing to do with racism. People still have revisit behaviours regardless of whether there is such filter or not. Ethnicity filter has got nothing to do with racism!!!

@m:
Like it or not, m, and regardless of whether it stems from a flawed social construct of race, or whether it is “fair,” for a lot of us sexual attraction is directly linked to what we perceive to be race.
Reading the other comments on here, I gather a lot of users on this site are attracted to only one ethnic type, and it seems often not to be their own. I am sure others have an exclusive preference for their own kind, while perhaps others have broader tastes. Regardless, since a large number of users are here for a hookup, and they know what they like, no amount of diversity training is going to make them want to have an afternoon of fun with an ethnic group they find repugnant.
While there are probably some bisexual men who use this site, many men here are not at all interested in having sex with a cis woman; does that make them sexists? Is the idea of having a site that is exclusive to men who like to have sex with men sexist? Imagine a dating or hookup site that did not allow a gay man to filter whom he was looking for or who was looking at him; he might logically offend every straight cis man he approaches while being grossed out by every straight cis woman who approaches him. While everyone suggests that gender is merely a social construct, and that therefore the genders with whom anyone chooses to have sexual intimacy are a matter of social conditioning, I don’t think that when anyone is selecting a potential person with whom to hook up he or she is willing consciously to lay aside his or her social conditioning in order that he or she might engage in sexual intimacy with someone of a gender that they find a complete turn-off. And so it is with race.

AS A PERSON WITH A B.A. IN SOCIAL WORK AND BACKGROUND IN SOCIAL JUSTICE: In my humble opinion of course...
To start you have categories AND filter for everything from what position people like, thier body type, how someone "acts", and wants to be called, picture no picture. Pretty much every judgmental physical feature EXCEPT a ethnicity filter! Not having this filter is not only a slap in the face to ALL of the PAID members, mind you, that have been making REPEATED comments and request about this in the place where OUR voices are suppose to be hear. After-all, this is the "WAYS TO MAKE GRIND BETTER" page that YOU send us to make suggestions and ways, and dare I say again, ways to make Grindr better! I mean WTF 🤯? We'll agree some request are just 🚀🤔🙄😴 but this is something more realistic since it once was an option.
I can understand that the removal of such filter was a well intend attempt of Grindr trying to be All Encompassing/Exclusive, Non-Bias, Not Being Able To Be Judged By Race, or Whatnot. You know be "Political Correct"! What they DO NOT realize that that are even MORE discriminating against those minority groups that rarely show up, because hate to break it to you Grindr but the majority of your members Paid or otherwise (that still make you 🤑) are WHITE! Not to mention discriminating against interracial interactions, friendship, and relationships. Whether those be sexual ones or otherwise! Like MANY other comments have stated: Some people like to interact with others that are different from themselves. That in itself is NOT racism or being racist Grindr. That is about what a person happens to be drawn and physically attracted to. Ever heard the saying "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"? Being racist is how you treat a person during an interaction with that said person. That is where a simply report (THAT EXISTS ALREADY) and / or the block the person!

I won’t upgrade until ethnicity filter is restored. Please bring it back. There is no racism in selecting preferences for getting laid. Everyone has choices. If u think it’s racism then tribes would also be racism in future one day when society is divided based on age and demographic division.

Do not add this back. These people fail to admit racism still exists in our community. The option itself is basically promoting racism. And to the one person in this comment section that called Grindr heterophobic, ARE YOU INSANE... Grindr is a GAY app not many exist. There are plenty of other apps for straight people they don’t need to come ruin Grindr for us.

Because filter is important as is age, appearance, color shape en so on, so maybe you can think about how to do the same filter ethically. If not I will not renew
