The claim that somehow filtering people by "race" is not "racism"... just amazing. Well, sorry, if it is in employment, housing etc. then it is in this too. Right, right... it's never "racism" when it's something *I* need.

Examine your own prejudices in that you are saying that you are attracted to certain people because of their ethnicity. How is this different than a landlord being attracted to tenants of a certain ethnicity? Or employers to employees of a certain ethnicity? (Both of which are, of course, illegal in most places.)

Everyone has biases and prejudices but we should not expect assistance from others in realizing them.

I agree the filter is not racism. It'd be like saying you're "ageist" because you filter by age. Or that you discriminate because you're a top that wants only a bottom. These are things that are just pure sexual preference. I can't help what I'm attracted to, but it also doesn't mean I'll suddenly treat everyone else as less. I'm heavily attracted to asian guys, but I won't get a message from a black guy and go off like HOW DARE YOU.. I'll just say I'm not typically into black guys but we can chat and see what happens. I wouldn't actively try to find one though.

The only people that would claim this is racism are the races themselves because we give them so much power with that. I have never seen someone actually be racist aside from the race themselves.. You say no to a black person and they suddenly go "IT'S CAUSE I'M BLACK ISN'T IT?!" THAT is racism, pulling race into something that doesn't matter. With that in mind, getting rid of an ethnicity filter only incites racism and is quite literally racism because you're trying to act as if different races don't exist. You're also trying to tell us it's wrong to be attracted to a certain type.

The filter is not racism. Geez people lighten the hell up. Its called sexual preference. If I want to take out all the white men on the app and make it that I only see black men that's ages 25-28 doesn't mean I'm being racist. I would be very curious to know what the race is of the people who think its rasists to have this filter.... in the US the predominant race of those on grindr is white.... all you have to do is open the app anywhere in the country to see that. well i dont date white guys at all... my dick simply does not get hard. thats not racist... its a sexual preference. we are not talking about access to equal housing, or access to higher education, or How everyone should be treated equally at banks restaurants bars etc. We are talking about sexual preference which has nothing to do with the other stuff. If I open my Grindr and it’s full of nothing but profiles of those who are white. I spend all my time blocking blocking blocking. So either way whether it’s with a filter or with the block button I’m finding the people I want. But without the filter it’s a colossal waste of time to simply block block block. If you want people to be happy with your app reinstate the filter. Pure and simple. Who cares if you are the first profile to pop up on my app if I’m not interested in you I will block or move onto the next one. So just add the filter back. I’m tired of blocking so many people. I think that’s worse than the filter quite frankly and yet that’s what we are forced to do. REINSTATE THE FILTER!!!!

Agreed. I am Asian, and sometimes I want to search for Asians. I am a "minority" and I I don't think ethnicity option is racism. I support to have this option back.

If someone was offended by the race filter and complained let them go to another app, we need that back!

You have to also understand that is not a about excluding. I am white, not into white guys, nothing against them just not my tea. I prefer Latino or Black, depending on where you live, if it primarily white, I Now have to scroll through a ton that don't interest me. I won't renew the premium if they don't put it back.

The only thing grindr succeeded in doing is that now I don't have fun anymore, I don't meet guys anymore when I'm in my home country because I'm just not that much into white guys. Sorry not sorry.

Before, I could use the filter and meet the very few middle Eastern, South Asians and black guys in the region, but now it's like looking for a piece of sand in the ocean...

I had grindr extra for more than 7 years, and now I won't ever renew it. Too bad.

I know many people are clamoring to have it back, but please don't return this. People still have the option of putting their ethnicity on their profile, so if they wanted to find like-minded people to connect with it's still possible. What is NOT ok is allowing people to use these filters to propagate their racist preferences.

I personally am not sexually attracted to Asians I can’t help my body’s naturally occurring arousal that being said I am sick of being called a racist because I do not particularly have a sexually attracted a sexual attraction to them I have plenty of Asian friends in fact some of my best friends in the past have been Asians but I will say I have been ostracized for the fact that I am not attracted to them and I don’t appreciate it because that is actually telling somebody that their sexuality is not OK and I think that’s what most LBGTQ people have been fighting against Their whole livesIt’s the same thing as me saying I’m not sexually attracted to women so please put this in consideration when people are calling me racist because I don’t find Asians attractive

As a black man, the removal of this feature has made things more difficult for me not better. I am gay, black and live in a very small Midwest town, a place that makes being gay hard enough but being black AND gay nearly unbearable. The ethnicity filter used to allow me to find a safe space of fellow gay POC that I could communicate with and share our similar experience when trying to find other gay POC out in the town is not an option. With the ethnicity filter gone, this safe space has been eliminated. My grinder app looks just like everything else in my town, and had made it made it impossible to easily find new friends. Also, I don’t only date other POC, I am attracted to all ethnicities, so this isn’t even a sexual preference thing, it’s just the elimination of a feature that used to provide me an easy way to seek out others that could support each other though common experience.

I spent all of my time blocking and deleting people that are probably lovely but are simply not my type. There is absolutely nothing racist about preferring dark hair over blondes. There’s nothing racist about preferring short guys over tall guys there’s nothing racist about preferring Slender or muscular guys over thicker bear types. And there is most certainly nothing racist about preferring darker skin over lighter skin or medium skin, Asian, African, Scandinavian, Scottish, South American etc. so please reinstall the feature. Any suggestion it’s ethically biased or racist is pure baloney. My dick literally will not get hard unless I’m with a person that is my type. So what is the point.... unless this feature is reinstalled I am considering dropping Grindr altogether. Nonstop blocking just to find a handful of people that are my type. Truly a waste of time.

Yes you are all racists. It being a preference just means it’s racism that has been instilled in you so intrinsically, and probably at such a young age you actually believe it’s just natural and not racism. Sorry to tell you, it definitely is. I guess you can thank mom and dad for your deeply ingrained “preferences.”

Looking for love is not easy and sometimes coming from the same background helps the future couple to find lots of similarities and become easier to be accepted by their family.

The removal of the filter was dumb, it’s mostly not used to filter out minorities, but rather to specifically search for them for those who have a specific interest

Seriously bring this back. I’m not a racist because I have sexual preference. Believe it or not, there’s no therapy that’ll force me to change my taste in men. Ridiculous PR move and honestly completely out of touch.

I think grinder should re consider this future bring back to life or Ban other filters like weight or poz some people can discriminate on this too! I used ethnic search as I love asian guys and other guys too!
