Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Sex apps have destroyed the art of in person dating and socializing. Killing the gay bar business. Why go out when U can get dick on demand? lol Filters are for lazy people. Embrace the hunt. And time to move passed race filters and age filters. Just swipe right or left ya lazy folks! ;-) jeeze!

Grindr Xtra used to have etnicy search parameters and now it doesn't. I can get some people will brings racism but it is irrelevant. You like what you like for example if I don't like white people I am not going to like them more because their profile shows it means I am going to spend more time blocking profiles that I don't like than actuality focusing on the people I am really interested. I am paying more to see more profiles which at the end it doesn't matter because i am still going to be limited to my personal distance limits and be able to block unlimited profiles. I am just one person but I am seriously discontinue paying for my grindr extra since I am paying for unlimited profile all the way to Japan and unlimited blocking people.

Grindr could not possibly reinstate the ethnicity filter because they have backed themselves into a corner. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. They removed it thinking it was some kind of symbol they cared about racism. So if they add it back, have they stopped caring about racism?? Best thing to do as a community, just stop paying for premium features. Vote with every dollar.

So I tweeted GRINDR ans Jeff Bonforte, CEO of GRINDR about this and both are so unprofessional neither bothered to respond, just shows how much they respect users of GRINDR.
Its time someone came up with a new APP and that GRINDR was closed down and they do not respect any of theie users. Jeff Bonforte to me is the worst CEO I have come across. -

It’s disheartening to feel that the majority the comments are heartfelt sincere and want the ethnicity filter returned... and yet Grindr does not respond. The point of this is ... if you like it, then use it, and guess what... if you don’t like it... then you DONT use it. Pure and simple.
Also... I am concerned at the comment below that said fake transgender profiles are being put on the site by Grindr. It’s interesting that I do feel a large influx of these type of profiles. As a gay man I’m not looking for a female. Again my choice. I truly hope this is not happening.. that would be very disingenuous and extremely cynical on the part of Grindr if indeed this is true. I also will not be renewing my subscription to Grindr since I can go on ADAM4ADAM and filter anything I want. And look for the exact kind of person I’m actually sexually attracted to. Did Grindr actually forget why the app became popular to begin with? COME ON GRINDR..... STEP UP.

I personally do not feel that removing this feature was beneficial in any meaningful way except to make users of this app frustrated.
There are various studies that have been conducted regarding race and sexual preferences. The Wikipedia article "Race and sexuality" has a lot of good information, but there are various other resources I would encourage people to read.
The following is quoted from the wikipedia article:
-----Just because someone isn't sexually attracted to someone of Asian origin does not mean they wouldn't want to work, live next to, or socialize with him or her, or that they believe they are somehow naturally superior to them.
This suggests that people find it possible to view larger systemic racial preference as problematic, while viewing racial preferences in romantic or sexual personal relationships as not problematic. Researchers noted that racial preferences in one's own dating life were generally tolerated and that calling them "racist" is not a commonly accepted view.
-----I would encourage Grindr to seriously look into this further, as it seems this was initially done as a publicity stunt as opposed to actually combating racism.

Forget it...grindr doesn't care !
If they did, they would have the courage and respect, to address the concerns of their customers.
Instead they hide behind some woke, social justice warrior, ideology which is corrupting the very place where we come to have fun and escape this academic nonsense.
Grindr, why don't you stop cowering behind your ivory monitors and address the people!
You know, the very people customers, who pay your salaries.

There’s many reasons to have this filter. It was removed during the BLM media storm. And I do not understand why this is the case. Majority and minority have equal rights absolutely but removing this filter actually discriminated against choice. Grindr is controlling what we decide to filter. It’s ok to choose by what someone likes sexually or are into but not a preferred ethnicity. That’s just crazy and prescriptive. Do the right thing. Let people decide who they search for. Allow Asian, Black, white whatever to choose who they want.

I'm quitting this app, why they keep the filter on age I'm 60 years old, start to be a minority. hopefully, I can keep it secret :-) then when a guy comes to chat and see I'm 60 and not agree with it we waste your time. Just Propose people to hide the ethnicity it's enough to be etic and enjoy most of us. In the meantime, I don't use Grindr anymore.

Why is Grindr not responding to the over 4,000 user votes and 100s of thoughtful and educated comments. Yet, Grindr refuses to listen to its customers. Just wrong for a corporate culture to fully ignore the very people that keep it in business.

Grindr is actively engaged in creating fake 'trans profiles'!
As a member of the trans community, I am appalled by this ongoing behaviour by the grindr team.
Nobody wants your meddling in something you know nothing about. We don't need you creating additional profiles to make it appear that there is a large trans community on grindr. Your manipulation is blatant, and insensitive; and only alienates our community.
Please stop it! Bring back the filter!

I just feel like Grindr a hookup app and people should be able to filter who they do and don't want to sleep with. Grindr should know better!!

Is there really anyone here dumb enough to think that when the filter existed I used to filter out xyz race because while maybe wonderful people and friends I’m not sexually attracted but now that the filter is gone well the world has just opened right up and since I can’t automatically filter and have to waste extra time manually skipping profiles I’ve now suddenly changed my entire sexual identity and come full circle? It changes nothing to remove the filter apart from the usefulness of the app. It doesn’t force interaction it doesn’t bring people together or any other stated reason. Further that’s not your role. If we wanted an app to help manipulate our social views and train us to be just like you I’m sure we could find one. If grindr is changing from a dating app to a social engineering app please let me know so I can cancel. Additionally why is race so much more special of a characteristic that it’s protected from filtering. If race doesn’t define and it’s just a natural feature then so is age and height and weight and position preference and every other option for filtering. Just because racism is an easy term to throw out in accusation that people are scared of doesn’t make it holier than ageism or being anti anything else. And lastly you focus so closely on filters being used as exclusionary and anti a feature but the same filter can be used for being pro something. Maybe it’s an insight into your own personal issues if all you can see is the negative side of a filter. Bitter a little? That chip on your shoulder getting a little heavy?
