Is there really anyone here dumb enough to think that when the filter existed I used to filter out xyz race because while maybe wonderful people and friends I’m not sexually attracted but now that the filter is gone well the world has just opened right up and since I can’t automatically filter and have to waste extra time manually skipping profiles I’ve now suddenly changed my entire sexual identity and come full circle? It changes nothing to remove the filter apart from the usefulness of the app. It doesn’t force interaction it doesn’t bring people together or any other stated reason. Further that’s not your role. If we wanted an app to help manipulate our social views and train us to be just like you I’m sure we could find one. If grindr is changing from a dating app to a social engineering app please let me know so I can cancel. Additionally why is race so much more special of a characteristic that it’s protected from filtering. If race doesn’t define and it’s just a natural feature then so is age and height and weight and position preference and every other option for filtering. Just because racism is an easy term to throw out in accusation that people are scared of doesn’t make it holier than ageism or being anti anything else. And lastly you focus so closely on filters being used as exclusionary and anti a feature but the same filter can be used for being pro something. Maybe it’s an insight into your own personal issues if all you can see is the negative side of a filter. Bitter a little? That chip on your shoulder getting a little heavy?
