Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

I’m not a huge fan of allowing the gays to contribute to this heteronormative expression of “not my type” -ing with this filter but I’ve been “trapped” before not knowing what to say when pictures don’t reveal ethnicity and it contributed to an awkward conversation of how this “doesn’t work for me.” I suppose it’s racist 🤷♂️ but whether it’s preconceived notions that the White cis-male Christ loving and fucking structure have pounded in my skull all my life, - … grinder is not the place to have that dialogue or to be “woke” I mean it’s a Fuck site so having a come to Jesus moment with an Asian male about stereotypes and ethnicity sifting is appropriate scholastically or over 156 dollar coffee and Philz, not at some trick’s house when you’re trying to remember if you took your Descovy before fucking. I mean come on? Give us back that filter.

actually I'm in boat of i prefer asian guys as a mixed guy myself problem is theres too many persons im not into coming up. i can not support grindr if this is like this tbh. i have very picky attractions in general. and while cant say theres any race i dont like 100% there are some who's genetic facial structures are often unattractive or tbh their body builds. the colors don't phase me either way its certain looks traits that are common with some that do. i can't pay grindr any more i cancelled my subscription and will not pay or use app til restored! period! I am only ever seeking asian or latino guys and its hard enough finding asian tops with thst filter near me in smaller town away from all cities. so fuck grindr and their homophobic ceo who is against gay marriage and does not understand gay culture at all

Would be cool if could filter race alone and build type alone

The removal of the ethnicity filter is such a bullshit. It makes me use grindr less because I hate scrolling through profiles looking for what I am interested in.

This feature (removal of it) was introduced in good faith to be more inclusive. However, it makes things more difficult. For instance, I like Black guys. I can't filter for my type. Lots of people agree. Far more than the vocal woke minority who convinced you guys to impose this on us. No disrespect, I understand why, but it's just lame. We have types. Let's us look for them and set our feed with who we want to be with and meet.

Having an attraction to something more than something else isn’t racist, as gay people we should all understand that attraction isn’t a choice.

Some people may use the ethnicity filter out of racism however it still boils down to having a preference.
The purpose of Grindr is to allow people to meet others based on our preferences and since losing the ethnicity filter, finding other people has become increasingly difficult.
There are profiles on Grindr with descriptions that can be deemed racist but in fact they are simply as expression of that persons preference.
In your response you stated that removing the ethnicity filter was from votes following the BlackLivesMatter movement.
Can anyone state that they have benefitted or can anyone demonstrate that BlackLivesMatter has improved it awareness as a result of losing this filter.
I am a white guy and I want to find Black, Mixed and South Asian and I am so disappointed that we have lost this filter.
Has anyone altered their preference as a result of losing this filter?
Is having a preference racist?
Have we really become so insecure that we can’t state a preference?
Those who are homophobic will find Grindr offensive. Should we expand its function to include straight people or perhaps disable the site altogether to prevent them from being offended.
Please bring back the ethnicity filter.
Thank you -

So an ethnicity filter is ok only if you just filter out white people?

Oh and one more thought to add below. At the very least you can make it part of the paid service. At least give an incentive to pay you more money. I don’t like that either but I can understand it. Capitalism at its finest include the Ethnicity filter with upgraded service. See how simple that is?

The last comment below was so perfectly thoughtful and well said. That’s exactly why you need the ethnicity filter. It would be no different if he was a white guy looking for a black man or an Asian guy looking for European man or Middle Eastern man looking for south pacific islander or a Blackman looking for other black men. None of it matters. The app is just not nearly as easy or fun to use as it once was. Sadly it’s the most popular gay dating app and Grindr seems to know this. So they are under no compunction to change anything. I believe they could just slide the feature back in and no one would be the wiser. BRING IT BACK, BRING IT BACK, BEING IT BACK…. make sense???????…. RESTORE THE ETHNICITY FILTER!!!!

Hi there,
I am a young professional man of color who is looking to find connection through your app. I have been using your app for the past 8 or so years. Because I live in a small conservative town in a mostly white state, I pay yearly to have the premium features to talk with men farther away. When you took away the feature to be able to filter by race it has been hard for me to make connections with people who look like me and/or who are attracted to people of color. As I mentioned before I live in a small town and so I liked using that feature to meet people of color in or out of my small town. However, now I’m not able to meet people who seem to be attracted to me. I know that you all were trying to do right by the black community by taking away the race feature to make us all equal. The fact is that the users on this app don’t think as progressive as you all. There are still men who say they aren’t into me because I’m not white or put whites only on their profile. This app can say Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate through another way on the app. We do appreciate your allyship. However, you are denying us the ability to find meaningful and safe connections. The ability to not search for men who accept me for who I am as a person of color is really discouraging. Please strongly consider my words and updating your app with a feature that allows me of color whether in small towns or not, to feel comfortable using your app and connecting with men who appreciate us for who we are.Thank you!

I agree that the filter should be reinstated but this comment could have came across ad less demanding and preachy
