More accurate online status - Go offline when closing the app
After closing the app, the profile remains online for 10 minutes. It is misleading. People think that you are rude for not answering, when in reality you are not online.

apps like whatsapp, telegram, skype all have real time online/offline status. so no, i don't think there's any real excuse for grindr to not have it.

So yeah the delay is annoying but I think the problem with the feature is feasibility. Like, how does the app know you went offline? Probably it just feels you online after some time went by without any interactions. That’s the delay you see. Bc if you don’t log out… how can the app tell you’re not using it anymore? Even if you could hook on an event when the user moved to another app, deeming then offline could be inaccurate and also would take some time to propagate to all other users. That assuming you update users status when they open your profile. For the grid, broadcasting “offline” events to every other user could be really challenging from a performance standpoint.
So… I think this is a great idea but it’s just probably not possible to implement. At least Grindr updates a few mins afterwards. Scruff keeps you’re green dot even after they know you’ve not used the app for half an hour or more. -

this is a problem that's plagued grindr since the beginning. now it's 2022 i would hope they can manage real time online/offline status..? it's been literally decades of other platforms being capable of that feature, at this point.

I'd prefer that my profile be non-visable to others when not online.

There's a guy who made a mod that fixes this, among other things:

Online indicators are hap-hazard and inconsistent. Get it right.

Unlimited members should have two profiles, so when we want to remain anonymous but still appear online without having to erase the current profile, and then do it all over again.

Imagine getting online , going on your happy hunt. You’re scrolling through multiple profiles and yet every stranger is connected . Yeah we connect our streaming platforms for a cute :30 ringer but it be more community minded to have the streaming app collect user data and curate a regions most popular set list. It could be a whole forum and vibe.
Then let’s up the fucking price ! Have members from different cities apply as influencers and help curate a virtual hangout since the app has became holes , links , and torsos.
Then when Grindr wants to pop up in a city , just brand the music aspect from the app as opportunity to go from phone bone , to home grown.
My name is and I approve this message.
I think of things like this all the time . I wish there was a space for me somewhere.

I agree this 10 min thing is annoying chatting away waiting for a reply and they're offline.

"Show online status ONLY while being online
Right now, if you log in only for a second, your profile still appears online for the next 10 minutes, after which it automatically says that you've been online 10 minutes ago.
I personally cannot see the purpose of this "fake" online time, now that we all get notified for a tap or a message. I find this misleading and in my experience it has caused a lot of fights about online time between jealous hookup partners :)
Please please please change this 10 minute online time!" -

You know, I find it baffling that with the ridiculous amount they decided to charge for their subscriptions ($19/$39 per month) that these issues wouldn’t be a problem. Like seriously, wtf are they doing with all that money. ‘Cause I sure the hell ain't paying $39 a month for an app that can’t even get rid of basic ass bugs. What is this Windows Vista?! GTFO

Online 200 miles away in message list. Offline 4500 feet away in favorites list. 1 mile away and online on the grid. Can there either be a universal refresh for the entire app, or can you pull the data from the same source across screens.

It’s sad that this isn’t a thing. It’s 2020 and this has been here since 2018. Come on Grindr you can do better

At present, the only way to log out of Grindr's service is to Force Stop the app. There is no option to Exit or Log Off. This presents a problem for a lot of people and needs to be addressed immediately ahead of other "new feature" requests.
