   This is totally unfair to us and it only seems to be getting worse over time, so get it together or I can’t justify continuing to use this app.

2. Bot Elimination.

   My Idea is to use multiple measures to make creating bots on this platform hard and expensive. I would hate to see that this company is allowing bot users to create bots to inflate user numbers. We should be aware of this kind of stuff as a community. Here are some things you guys could start working on for the better of the user community. can prevent bots from creating fake accounts by layering multiple defenses that make registration easy for real users but expensive or difficult for automated scripts. At the edge, they should implement rate limiting and web application firewall (WAF) rules to block known bot networks, suspicious IP ranges, and malformed traffic. Signup forms should use invisible honeypots, time-on-page and interaction checks, and signed tokens to detect automated submissions, while also verifying email addresses and, for high-risk cases, phone numbers. Risk-based scoring based on device fingerprints, IP reputation, browser behavior, and usage velocity allows the system to introduce extra friction only when necessary, such as CAPTCHAs, proof-of-work challenges, or SMS verification. Disposable or temporary emails should be blocked, and repeated signup attempts from the same device or subnet should be throttled. Once new accounts are created, they can be “trust-ramped” with limited functionality until verified through normal activity patterns. Continuous monitoring, anomaly alerts, and feedback loops that learn from banned accounts further refine defenses over time. The overall goal is a balanced, adaptive system that filters automated abuse early, keeps human users’ experience smooth, and dynamically responds to new bot tactics.

3. Review Grindr Banning Algorithm?

   Over a month ago I was trying to create an account and accidentally selected the wrong year which led to Grindr banning me in terms of underage account creation I assume. And now, it seems that I cannot even make another account because it is like they banned my device absolutely.

   I submitted the ban appeal over a month ago and apparently moderators take "1-2" business days to review it. I even mentioned my willingness to verify my actual age. But banning my whole device just because I selected the wrong year accidentally (the iPhone user interfce is not the best when using the scroll option)? That's unfair. I believe it's the algortihm or something that's detecting I'm trying to make multiple accounts after the previous account was rejected because I accidentally selected the wrong age.

   I do NOT want to do a factory reset, buy a new phone and get a new number. That's ridiculous.

4. Unsolicited nsfw

   I think, when sending a picture to someone who has their NSFW settings to "No thanks" or "Not at first," the sender should get a Clippy style pop-up.

   It could say something like "Keep it PG, folks! This user doesn't want to receive NSFW messages. Please check your message for inappropriate content." Or "Preserve the mystery! This user doesn't want NSFW pics right off the bat. Please check your message for inappropriate content."

   Now, this would be annoying as all hell, but there are obviously a lot of guys who need the reminder. I understand that the occasional unsolicited dick pic is a hazard of dating apps, but it's making the app unusable.

11. Moderate profiles better. Lately every 4th profile is the say girl with the same clothes, they are obviously spam

    Moderate profiles , if you don’t pay you have to verify or something to prevent all the fake GIRL profiles. Then there are the bots. Seriously for 300 hire some decent consultants and have your systems trained using genAI to weed out the non real profiles.

13. Do something about the ridiculous number of spam accounts

    The number of spam accounts (mostly trans girls) has gotten completely out of hand. I get between 10 and 20 taps from them every single day! I spend more time reporting profiles than chatting with people at this point. It‘s genuinely ridiculous.

    It’s hard to believe this workflow was designed by anyone who considered the customer experience or basic fairness. Suspending accounts, continuing to charge, and providing no responsive support indicates a serious failure in reasoning, oversight, and internal controls. This is not how a competent subscription service operates.

16. Consent and NSFW pictures

    Educate on consent! Don’t promote assault!

    If a person has NSFW set to ‘Never’ on their profile, herein as the receiver, the following should happen:

    • A user sending a photo to the receiver receives a pop up dialog box informing them that the user does not consent to NSFW photos and asks the sender whether they would like to proceed with sending the photos.
    • The sender has the option to press “Yes - these photos are safe” and the photos would proceed to send. The sender could press “No - these photos are NSFW” and the photos wouldn’t send.
    • If the sender presses “Yes”, the sender would be additionally informed that sending explicit images would violate the consent of the receiver. A new dialog box would re-prompt the sender to confirm to proceed to send. (OR a warning similar to this would appear within the first dialog box).
    • The dialog box would also include at the bottom a hyperlink to a Grindr website informing them of consent when sending sexual imagery.

    To mitigate the risk of the sender violating the consent of the receiver and proceeding to send NSFW photos despite being informed thereof, the receiver should experience the following:

    • All photos received are subject to blanket censoring whereby a photo is blurred or hidden with the warning that a photo could be explicit. The receiver has the option to view the image should they choose to.
    • You could instead opt for an automatic screening protocol to censor images deemed NSFW but this would have to be done in a way that adheres to the data privacy of the sender.
    • If a photo is deemed NSFW when the receiver does not consent to these images, then the receiver would have the option to report the sender.

    The sender would also be pre-warned that clicking “Yes” in order to send explicit images would breach Grindr community guidelines by the violation of the receiver’s consent and that the receiver would be in the right to report the sender and the potential consequence of this for the sender.

    Grindr has an obligation to not only protect the consent of its users but also to educate those on consent too. This is why I think a solution which aims to only censor NSFW photos from users who do not consent to them on their profile does not solve the issue. The dialog box serves a great educational purpose to make users understand consent regarding the sending of sexual imagery to make the app and society safer for everyone in this community.

    If Grindr doesn’t choose to enact this, then it cannot be said that the highest priority of those at Grindr is to educate the community on consent and is instead complicit by negligence in the assault of its users in receiving sexual imagery without that consent.

18. Stop bogus users directing us to other URLs I g get as many scammer text on here as I do genuine texts.

    When something is so obvious that they are a scammer or directing us to other sites. Grindr needs to be far more efficient at removing these accounts.

    It takes way too long for moderation to kick in. With agentic AI and generative AI you should be able to do this pretty quick.
