Auto Logout Timer
Hello Grindr,
I would like to propose the “Auto Logout Timer” feature to protect privacy:
Users can set the time to automatically log out after inactivity (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour).
When the time is up, the app will automatically log out, ensuring that no one can access the account if the device is forgotten or borrowed.
Option to warn before logging out to avoid interrupting the experience.
Benefits:
Protects user privacy and safety.
Reduces the risk of exposing personal information, messages, or sensitive images.
Helps Grindr become a safer platform for the LGBTQ+ community.

Suggestion: Add a “Temporary Location Hide” feature for users when traveling
Hi Grindr team,
I would like to suggest adding a “Temporary Location Hide” feature to help users have better control over their privacy when traveling or in unfamiliar places.
Specifically, when enabled, the user’s location will be displayed in the city they choose (e.g., “New York” or “Bangkok”) instead of the exact GPS location. This helps ensure safety and avoid being tracked or revealing a real location in areas that are not safe for the LGBTQ+ community.
This feature could be similar to “Travel Mode” in Tinder, but more flexible—allowing users to choose the area to be visible for 24…

Gender Filter
There has been a huge influx of female-presenting accounts. Nearly all of them are only on Grindr to promote their OnlyFans pages. The majority of taps I get are from women in their mid-thirties. I have absolutely zero interest in women and I think it’s weird that they’re even allowed on Grindr. But, if they must stay, we deserve a feature that filters profiles by gender preference. I don’t want to see women (who are really just spam accounts) and I don’t want them to see me.

Add Verified Marks
Add the option for people to verify that they’re who they say they are, too many fake accounts trying to scam on the app. Remaining anonymous or discreet is fine, but reducing the risk by allowing users to verify themselves would make things better. The addition of a filter for verified accounts would also be great.

More characters for bio yo!
We all know 255 characters is not enough to even say hi hello my name...not that guys these days care but I do. Introduction is key! So with characters please make it suitable for the fitting but honestly you should step it up a notch and do a virtual about me bio video accessible and clip Incorporated type of thing! LOL

Users not stating they are rent boys, but then seeing my race decide to charge
Someone asking for money should state it upfront. It cannot be an afterthought once they see interest. A profile that doesn’t explicitly state it but then add it in the comments should be banned. Or have a separate Grindr section just for rent boys.

Taps should be free to see for everyone
Charging us just to see taps is rather extreme. As much as I understand that this app is a business there should also be a level of consideration for its users. Not everyone can afford unlimited. Some basic features such as taps etc should be freely accessible

Why do u have a problem with my pics? Is it cause I called out ur racism? They're half naked with no dick visible but u keep rejecting them and randomly remove what u already approved. Is it cause I said u'r fucking up the app?

Some Thoughts on the Current App Experience
One of the biggest pain points right now is message delivery and visibility. Sometimes messages don’t show as delivered or read, and it’s unclear whether the other person is active, offline, or has blocked you. Improving message status transparency would really enhance the user experience.
Also, ads have become more intrusive, especially full-screen ones with timers. I understand the need for monetization, but it affects the flow of usage, particularly during chats.
A better filter system for preferences (such as interests, serious vs casual, etc.) would also be helpful in finding more relevant matches.

Spam
Grindr should block including links in messages until both users have messaged each other. This I think would cut down a lot on spam accounts who send messages trying to get users to open websites outside of Grindr.
I never send first messages that contain links, and from real users I never receive them as well. I would imagine it wouldn’t really inconvenience many people.

Manual spam filter, block messages with a specific phrase
So many of your spam bots have such simple patterns. Why not just let us handle that ourselves by allowing us to specify a blocked phrase, such that if a user introduces a new chat with said phrase, the chat request skips notifications? Perhaps add a separate chat list for spam too and add a little notification dot to it too, like how email works.
