3. Tone down your ads

   It’s BEYOND annoying when you go into a chat and it goes to any ad, or when you’re typing. Can you tone this down? Look at everyone complaining. Do better Grindr.

4. Ads now require you physically click?

   So I’ve noticed that ads are now requiring that I physically click on whatever app it’s adverting. Specifically the apps that are in the app store. To get them to go away and even that won’t happen unless I flick the app store section either up or done to get it off the screen and then only have whatever is playing. I do not get the X button until i’ve done all of that and it means I have to go to the app every time. It’s not my favorite thing, but I suspect it could mess up the advertisers analytics. I’m not sure if you guys do PPC or what but if it’s doing that for everyone else also it may look like they have a lot more people clicking on their advertisements than actually are interested in it.

6. Stop aggressive Grindr ads!

   Hi, can you please stop bombarding with your aggressive ads every time I open Messages and see Grindr Xtra or ZeroHIVStigmaday! I deleted them million times and every time I close app and reopen they reappear! Stop your algorithm annoying people!!!

9. The adds are out of hand

   You people are trying to make the free version of this app so insufferable that you're destroying your product. I'm guessing you're trying to make people shell out money for one of your premium versions. I rarely noticed what these ads are even for because I'm so angry at being shown them. All I've done is open the app. I've not had a chance to so much is interact with it yet, and you're showing me an ad. So now I have to x out of four screens, each screen has to stay up for so long before I can close it, and that's just to get back to the app if I'm lucky. Why do I have to close four screens to get out of the ad? In what world does that seem reasonable? What web traffic could these advertisers possibly be getting from your ads, because if I ever manage to even notice what they're for I basically vowed to never give them my business because they make me so mad. I've been using this app off and on since 2010. I don't remember when you started showing pop-up ads, but I do know they have never made me want whatever they're selling. I usually don't even know, because the whole time all I'm doing is looking for the spot I have to touch to make it go away. Couldn't you just leave it at two screens, and leave them up for long enough that I can even tell what the hell they're for, and call it good enough? And what's with the tiny x that's pushed so far into the corner of the screen, you're not even sure the whole ex is showing. At least least half the time you can't seem to hit the exact spot because apparently anything that's not the little x is going to redirect you. So many times I'll see the notification, and just ignore it because I don't want to have to deal with an ad, because I know I'll have to view one before I can even read the message. A lot of the time, I just decide it's not worth bothering. You're getting way too greedy, and you're going to alienate the largest demographic of your entire user base. It's not like the freezers don't make you money, and if you alienate all of us, your premium users are not really going to feel like they have such a great experience either cuz it's going to be a lot fewer people using the app. Seriously guys get it together, because I think about deleting this app multiple times every day that I open it. You have a lot of other issues you need to work on too, but that's the one that pisses me off so much that it's going to lose me as a user at some point. The amount of ads is ridiculous, but primarily because of how hard they are to back out of. You have got to stop showing ads before the user has even done anything. At least go back to letting me actually view the profile, read the message, or message a profile first. Go back to showing me an ad after I try to back out of whatever I've already done, because at least then you've provided me with something functional ish before making me view an ad.

11. Limitations due to ads

    I think you need to check your locations and mileage because now that we only have a limited amount before it goes on to another area that we can't get to now because of the ads and we have to pay more for month I'm finding people in my area is 98 mi away 87 miles away 53 mi away when people below me in the area that I can't get to are people that live right up the street some that are 7 miles away or 13 mi away it makes no sense the people closest to me should be the freebies that I'm allowed to look at this whole thing since it changed to ads has just totally disgusted me

13. Make a functional app.

    Release an app that isn't an intentional complete POS. I will never give into your extortion and give you money. Absolutely pathetic how much you think this trash is worth too. 19. Misleading ads and hiding the close button

    The ads on the free version of the app have been ruining the user experience for a while and this should be of no surprise to anyone at Grindr. However, I’m now getting adds with deliberately misleading false notifications saying things like APPLE ACCOUNT LOCKED which are impossible to exit either because of the obscuring of the X out button or not including it in the first place. It is already annoying enough that the ads are totally inappropriate for the rather captive audience but now the site feels like a badly designed porn-tube streaming site full of nonsense pop ups designed to confuse you. The pages you inevitably click through to then invite you to download a totally unrelated app to whatever lies the advert was flashing at you in the first place. The whole experience makes the app feel ghastly to use and to look at.

    Grindr is a a New York listed public company and it should not be confusing and/or punishing its users with this slop. The overall impression is that the company must be scrambling for ad revenue at any cost and the users are paying the price and must be ditching the app in droves,

    I’m also sure that Apple and Google prohibit misleading ads in their App Store developer terms and conditions.

    None of this is rocket science - please give some thought to finding a way to integrate ads that don’t insult your users and doesn’t make the company look like it’s circling the drain.

20. The amount of intrusive ads, autoplay videos it’s very abusive and gross business practices, UNETHICAL

    The amount of intrusive ads, autoplay videos, and forced subscription pressure has become unacceptable, it’s very abusive.

    This no longer feels like a usable free app, it feels intentionally broken to push people into paying. That’s not ethical design, it’s coercion. It’s obviously being done so people give pay but subscription prices are wildly inflated for what you get and doesn’t even remove all ads.

    If this continues, I will stop using Grindr altogether. Many users already feel the same way.
