1. Remove “Body Type” Filter for a More Inclusive Grindr

   I wanted to start a conversation and propose a change I deeply believe would benefit our community: the removal of the 'Body Type' search option.

   Why consider this change?

   1. Promotion of Stereotypes: The current categories under body types are quite simplistic. They don't truly capture the diverse range of body shapes and sizes within our community and can unintentionally reinforce harmful stereotypes.

   2. Mental Health Implications: Having an option to filter based on body type can indirectly contribute to body shaming practices. Whether it's fat shaming, skinny shaming, or any form of body discrimination, it affects self-esteem and can foster toxic behaviors.

   3. Promote Inclusivity and Body Positivity: As our society embraces inclusivity and body positivity, Grindr should be at the forefront, championing these values. Removing such filters would be a step towards creating an environment where everyone feels accepted and appreciated.

   4. Authentic User Experience: Without the pressure of fitting into a specific 'Body Type' category, users may feel more comfortable being genuine. This paves the way for connections based on shared interests, values, and personalities rather than just physical appearances.

   I understand that features like these were added to help streamline the user experience. However, as times change and we become more aware of the unintentional implications such features can have, it's worth reevaluating and adapting.

   Would love to hear what everyone thinks! If you resonate with this, perhaps we can collectively bring this to the attention of the Grindr development team.

   Allow people to sell stuff on the app such as content, used underwear etc. It will allow people to help each other financially as well help out some kinks too. People could pay to post a sales & wants ad.

5. Could you actually make it a dating app and not some site for free prostitution…

   I don’t want the first message I receive to be a dick pic and then they expect a conversation to evolve from it.. I’m sick of I.. I just want a relationship and the min-max age preference doesn’t work because I have people who are well above my age I don’t want messaging me, i have the “wanting images” ability off and well no one reads bios.. no one is considerate or even nice about it either… I’m not treated as a person but treated as if I’m the 50th whore in their DMs… I’ve left the app before due to this and decided it might be better now, it’s not

7. Why would you make gender uncustomizable?

   Taking away people’s ability to explain their gender as they see it is a step backwards. I don’t know why y’all would decide to make this a feature in our current climate. Only explanation I can see is because of the huge number of cis men who use the section to joke about non binary genders, which is understandable. However, those transphobic people should not be the reason that trans people have confines placed on their identities.

   Also- the category I would put this in is User Experience but that’s not an option.

8. Not being able to report a profile if I can’t communicate with it

   Once I’ve scrolled past the viewable limit. If I see a profile with a title like “drugs and fuck” I can’t report it because clicking on it takes me to the premium update page.
   There should be the ability to click and hold to report button and auto capture the profile pic and title with an additional info box.

    The group making in this app is so irritating ... While making a group, it should show the recent chats but it never does it .. and we never find what we are looking for .. also .. while making a group .. we don't get an option to search the profile name .. that's bad .

    This app is notorious for torso pics. I’ve been on it on and off it since it’s inception. In Jan 2023, Instagram formally edited their bilaws to accept “protest” as a reason to allow all nipples, meaning roughly, that even that family-friendly app allows the nudity of women’s nipples so long as you add the hashtag #freethenipple. I’m a trans woman who transitioned btwn 25 and 31. Years ago I could do a headless pic, no problem, now I’m using iPhone tech to edit out my nipples on photos for this app more than I am Twitter or Insta or Snapchat. To prove it, I posted the photo that I asked to moderate here—I’m in green, nipples showing slightly through a mesh bodysuit—to my Insta, Gigiravine, with the aforementioned hashtag four hours ago. It’s still posted at time of posting this, but that same photograph here is inappropriate? I kinda figured that a company marketed to LGBTQ+ individuals might have a bit of a more of an inclusive attitude than meta.

16. Allow transgender men/ AFAB individuals to post photos to their profile that other cis men can.

    I am a transgender man and I’ve been using grindr for about three years (on and off). The one thing that I find disappointing about grindr is that cis men can use pictures of them without clothes (genitals covered) on their profile, but transmen/AFAB people cannot. I try adding a picture as showing as much body/skin that a cis man is showing, but mine gets rejected. This is incredibly transphobic and it’s clear grindr doesn’t care to adjust the criteria for pictures uploaded to a users profile. They are saying I’m not a man therefore I can’t do the same thing real men can do about the images used on their profile

    My profile pictures had 0 nudity and I had a moderator remove all of them. There's plenty of profiles that show nudes and nothing is done about any of them. Some of these profiles were reported and today they're still there. Grindr is nothing like Sniffles but at least they're FAIR to everyone.
