Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

The fact of the matter is: No matter what your ethnicity is, being born in Hong Kong and raised in North America. I identify myself as a visible minority.
I suggest the filter should include minority/visible minority and people of colour.
I think depending on where you’re located, it provides option for the user in that Country or Continent

Due to the fact that people have been blowing up the Grindr feed about this issue, i'm going to keep this short... *THE ETHNICITY FILTER IS NOT RACIST!... I think you guys need to do a little research on the word racism...

Grindr has. Really messed up team after ceo left.
They ban accounts after you pay for one year membership. Too much n investor pressure.
I don't know why someone doesn't find a better app.
Nearly ,8000 voted and you still don't act in it n

It's aggravating to have people show up from over 300 miles away when you're looking for near by. To be able to set a distance would be great.

Many black men date white dudes exclusively. It is outrageous that Grindr continues to perpetuate a racist policy which inaccurately and erroneously treats these black men as racist bigots. In fact, the opposite is true as these men actively pursue men of a single race. In acknowledging their preference for a particular race, because it is an individual personal preference, Grindr should embrace the idea that regardless of filters, individuals are going to date, marry, fuck, LOVE the person (s) who they choose for whatever reason they feel is important. Making this more convenient for everyone is the only sole solution to is honest and respectful. If the data point exists for any given characteristic, each user should decide for himself if he wishes to have that information in the database. The sole remedy to any user who for personsl, religious, political other basis to the inclusion of race or any other character characteristic should be the option to decline to provide the info only for himself. The user is therefore not searchable on that field. Every characteristic captured should be searchable/ able to be filtered. If you are offended that a black man could search exclusively for white guys, then you may decline to provide your race, which should as automatically restrict your access to the search/filter for race. Opt out of providing and out of the ability to use that search category. Your fake moral outrage that a black guy can search for whites only is a logical oxymoron . Do you think denying him The ability to search in a manner that excludes you from his results is efficient. It's none of your business what he likes. If best use of your time is to call so someone a racist because you never had a chance and never will have a chance, then stfu and delete your account. Grindr takes such a weaselly approach to try to be just woke enough that the hysterical woke will pay and not so woke as to run the rational users away. There's a way to be fair to everyone. This is not about racism. It's about denying the bitter bullies the platform to call others racist in order to propagate a hateful agenda. Problem is that the decision makers and the complainers are the same bullies

Hey. this is a difficult topic - since Grindr have made the “matter of sexual attraction” into a racist issue by deleting the ethnic filter.
Selecting an ethnic filter - to my mind - has nothing to with racism.
It is a pure selection of what kind of person do you find atractive.
Just as you in your search filter can select age, height, weight, body type etc.
This again proves that gays are gays - but all have different views on the gays they wanna meet.
This should decided by the customers - not by some hidden Grindr project office that put restrictions on users but dont have the decency to ask the customers that pays the salery whats really wanted.
we get from time to time surveys asking if we like Grindr - so they can congratulate each other with the result. but why do they not send out a survey asking what search items the users actually want to search for.
and why do they never reply to any of this.
btw I was stupid enough to pay a yearly subscription - so I am forced to await the end so I can stop renewing. I dont think Grindr deserves our money.

Also, if a white guy filters out bipoc people then I dont want to meet them anyway. Let the white guys who arent into bipoc guys keep to their white washed world. I dont care about them.

I don’t see the issue here. If the individual chooses not to list their race, so be it. Grindr is primarily a hookup app and people have preferences. If someone’s being harassed, they can report the user. This for sure needs to be a priority.

If you allow a user to use the term BBC, then having an ethnicity filter is no different. Like other posters, I was an unlimited subscriber, but will not renew until this filter is restored and there is value in having an unlimited subscription.

As a white male, I feel that the ethnicity filter actually promotes diversity.
I love all sized, shapes, and skin tones of men. Sometimes I want to filter just to meet someone with a different background. Is that so wrong? I don’t think so.

bring it back, not renewing until I see it again.

Removing the ethnicity filter is racist because it only considers racist intent. Repeat, Grindr has taken racist action by removing the ethnicity filter. What is BLM doing about this?
The ethnicity filter allows people who are attracted to Asians or Blacks or other minorities to find those people. Sexual preference is not something you choose - being attracted to a particular ethnicity is not racist.
Since the removal of the ethnicity filter, there are far FEWER active users among minorities and non-white ethnicities.

hey Grindr Support
do your office ever read the comments on the thread ” Please restore ethnicity filter” at all??
or dont you give a damn about the 7435 comments of the customers actually paying your salaries?
an honest public reply to all the people upset with your stupid excuse for removal of the ethic filter is long wanted.
you have selection of age, height. bodytype - but you force us search thru female and trans profiles - whereas you prohibit us to look for a type that we want to connect.
thats a racist method that you force on your paying customers - its not cheap to be a member on Grindr - and the fact you do
not read nor reply to comments on the thread is down right SUPER bad customer service.you often send out questionares about how we feel about grindr.
how about sending out a survey to the customers that are paying your salaries and asking then what search filters are wanted. instead of sitting in your project office deciding something that you obviously do not know how to handle.
i will post this mail on the thread. please reply there.
regards Pete

I agree this difficult when we like a specific type. It’s not racist you can’t make us like a type. I’m into white and Latinos I think I have the right to search for what I’m into and attracted to.
