Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

Agreed!!! If black people are so sensitive and ashamed to be black then get rid of all the ethnic categories all together. It’s such stupid thinking, a lack of intelligence to think that what turns me on makes me a or anyone a racist. I can say if I like skinny or Twink but I can’t say I want white or black. How is that different

and FYI, race is not a "mood".

Why, so you can continue with your racism? Does brown hurt your eyes?

Have a “type in” option for ethnicity, multiple ethnicities are missing, would be nice to add them in the options or allow to type in.

While this discussion is about racism for some (and there isn't a doubt in my mind that there would be people using an ethnicity filter because they don't like people of one skin tone or another), I personally look at it like this...some nights I want to top, some nights I want to bottom. Some nights I feel like a dad bod, some nights a twink, etc. Some nights I specifically want a black, Hispanic, Asian, or (dare I say it?) white guy. It would be nice to be able to look at only what I'm in the mood for, and as the night goes on I'll slowly start removing filters like everyone else. 🤣

I agree. Many other sites like this have an ethnicity filter

…it’s not always “white person that hates black people”. That is so very narrow-minded, but what can I expect here? I see plenty of profiles from PoCs that boldly state “black men only” or “no white men”. But I guess that isn’t racism, right? SMFH

of course sexual attraction is not racist but if you think that racism isn't a big part of some people's choices for whom they date, you are very naive. do you really think a white racist who hates blacks is going to seek out a black person to date? racism is alive and well and can play a part in some people's choices for intimacy. I'm available or does my skin color really matter that much to you. if it does, you can always turn out the lights! ha ha.

Your obvious disdain for folks trying to make the world better for everyone not just white guys is ironic. The woke political types are the reason you have any rights at all. I don't see such a big deal about the filter either way but the ones really complaining are the type that puts NO BLACKS just my preference in their profiles

There are so many men here who bash me as tho this isn’t an app for gays like it’s a boys toilet room. If I’m not your type reporting my page doesn’t make me go away. Im a female with an advanced sexual appetite and Men on Grindr tend to like that. Also I’m a SWITCH… however men find I have only one type and I don’t go outside my preference.

@Travis: Thank you! The clutch is real and we need to stop leaning on it
That being said: we are all wasting our time on this. Grindr is not reading, paying attention, or caring about their paying customer base. They continuously remove filters along the way (health status disappeared a while back, too). They need to either keep/replace all the filters, or remove them all. No matter what, I am going to be too tall to short, too big or little, light or dark, etc. to SOMEONE. Does it bother me? No. I would rather someone not “have to look at me” than having it lead to disappointment or, recently, rude queens telling me what is wrong with me.

The filter has Nothing to do with racism. We cannot change or alter who we attracted to that’s biological and would be ridiculous to attempt to do so.
The Gays cannot shout from the rooftops that they are “born this way” And then claim that attraction is something that is decided consciously . Either it’s all biological or it’s not . And just because someone is pissed off and pouting because they we’re not picked by someone else does not mean this racism … just means that that person didn’t like them in that way …that’s life …get over it … grow up and stop using racism as a blanket. -

This is outrageous. People are so scared nowadays to come across as racist. Everyone is beautiful, but everyone also has a type. Why is this not an option anymore?

Grindr should be race-conscious and celebrate ethnicity, not censor it. People should also have personal choice to find other affinity groups or individuals whether it's for friendships, or what not. It's not always about sex. Perhaps people speak the same language, or have similar heritage. Why make it harder for people to find brothers and sisters of similar origin. If you really wanna equalize race, just take pictures out completely. I'm sure everyone would love that. It also won't solve racism unfortunately.

In my opinion, filter or not it will never remove someone's specific "preferences" it only makes them harder to find and filter through. Trust me. Someone who has a "preference" for specific type of man won't change because a feature is gone and it's stupid to think that in this day in age.

to A Splendid Time ..thank u for ur thoughtful comments.
I have tried sleeping with females on occasion with an open mind. it never worked tho. I also stick to my preferences most of the time. I can only speak from experience that when I've gone beyond my first preference for Caucasian blondes I was very happy that I branched out. I apologize for calling anyone stupid but I also can't assume grindr is pandering to the woke mob. they may feel genuinely about how it can hurt some people and maybe they decided it wasn't that vital since we usually find out about someones race with pics. sexual attraction is very personal. no one is stupid 4 not branching out more but they may not realize until they try that other types might satisfy them. yes u may know what turns you on but there is an old saying that some people are looking for their knight in shining armor and miss out because they only want that ideal person. many people give up on grindr because it can be frustrating and it can be frustrating because it can be superficial and there is an element of superficiality to rejecting whole groups of people based on race or ethnicity. for some grindr can become very depressing because of rejection. of course rejection is part of life but rejection based primarily on race does seem a bit superficial to me. I wish everyone the best and I'm glad I decided not to reject anyone based on ethnicity long ago because I gained a lot from going beyond the knight in shining armor although if he's out there I am hoping he doesn't block me based on my race! -
