I have a filter for my preferred age range and I also say on my bio what age I prefer but I'm tired of older creeps messaging me to "chance their luck"...It almost ruins the experience for me.

This is a very discriminating idea. Older men have the right to use this app and contact whoever they like. What is the next one? Block messages from asians?

Simply have the ability to specify the age of the person you are looking for, would make it a lot easier to find people interested, especially when there is an age gap

It is sometimes hard to see whether you are in a persons age range. Ability to filter on this would stop me messaging guys that are not interested.

Let people set preferences such as age limits and whether they're looking for a top or a bottom and make this visible on their profile.

This would stop us messaging guys who don’t want to hear from guys of our age

If you can specify which age range can see you later profile, it'll make the whole experience so much more legit and LOADS more people will use the app.
It's not judging each other, most people have an age limit - be it up or down... There are so many people who don't use Grindr because of this

I can view people based on my search criteria but then often read that I’m out of their age range or other preferences so why can’t I filter on people who want to date people like me (relationship, age, etc).

Your filter also affects other peoples filters.
As an example:

Your filter: age range 25 - 50
Anybody outside of those filters will not be able to view your profile. This is also the same for body type, height, weight and anything else in that filter.

This will incidentally narrow down radars but makes for more accurate results with less hassle. It means profiles that appear have the same interests as yours.

This just furthers the already growing problem of gays judging each other for things no one can control like Age. If that person is creepy block them. Most older people have self respect and don’t go after ******* Twinks that think they are the best. Creepy comes in all ages and bringing ageism to this already judgmental app that was created for quick hookups will be it’s downfall. If you need app assistance to tell someone you’re not interested, grow a backbone and be more upfront instead of hiding.

If you have limit like 18 to 29 only or 20 to 23, have a setting where whoever isn't in your prefer age range to not see your profile and don't text or tap you

We 'old' guys were here long before such apps were available and it was far more dangerous meeting guys. We have every right to send a complimentary message.

Unrealistic feature. It would be easy to enhance messages to automatically ignore messages from users outside a range, such as the range specified in search criteria.

However, this is a guarantee to encourage even more users to post fake information.

Hard to explain
Currently if a filter is applied, let’s say age. It changes the users users view to the set desired filter. However, it does not prevent those outside of the age range from contacting the user.

The new filter should make the user only visible to those the user desires.

Ex. If a white guy is only interested in white guys his filter would reflect only white guys for his view. Unfortunately, black users would still be able to contact him as he’s still visible in their view. The new filter should prevent black users from seeing him therefor preventing wasted effort in communicating
