Not being able to change the ringtone on iPhones for this app forces users to keep the phone completely muted. The grindr sound is too obvious nowadays and this inflexible setting offers no discretion. I believe Grindr has the power to fix this. It’s gonna be great when they do.

You can change it via the android app notifications section now. Not the app itself. Go to notifications menu in settings then scroll down to grndr and change the audios there.... your welcome Alex Purdy lol 😆 I was so upset by this issue until I found the work around.

This has become a bigger issue now as the straights have widespread the grindr sound over tiktok the straights now know what the sound means! Please give us option to change it!!!

Try adding a few alternative sounds for the notification sound. Everyone knows the original sound and it can be quite embarrassing if it accidentally goes off in a group of people or on a date. I think I speak for many others when I say this would be an EXTREMELY welcomed option to have.

At least make it where you can keep the sound I love it! Especially when I’m in line at a store and it goes off in my purse then I see all the boys peek up at me cause they know exactly what that sound is 😁

I agree, the app sounds can "out" people unintentially. The ability to pick from alternative sounds or use custom would be great. Maybe a complete silent tone, vibrate only for Xtra users?

Not being able to change the ringtone for grindr with iPhone is the worst aspect of this app for sure. There is no way to use the app with discretion in public with the phone in sound mode due to this. I will be so happy when this issue is resolved.

Just sat in Gran Canaria… obviously most people know the notification sound (iphone here) and the heads turned. Awkward.

For security purposes, please add the option to customize notification sounds. Instead of just the standard grindr notifications sound. The sound is too well known.

I'm convinced that Grindr has the ability to make it possible for us to change the notification ringtone for iPhone users too. Please, I'm counting on you Grindr. Being able to get notifications in public without everyone around knowing what you are doing will be a fantastic change for the app.

Can't we just mute our phones in public, or just turn off the audible notification? I keep my iPhone muted at all times. I don't like having any audible notifications. My Apple Watch provides the notification by tapping my wrist. No one can hear it, and it's easily ignored if I'm too busy to check my messages.

It would help keep privacy if we could choose our own sounds for notification.I don't need the only sound for Grindr going off in a group of people where who knows how many will recognize it. The haters of the world could use this as a means to identify they're next victim. And victim of what? Death,torture, dismemberment or worse? As it is I will force stop Grindr to prevent notifications from coming in at undesired time. That Jake e only make me delete, not subscribe. Choose your path, I will do the same.

3 years later and this is still a problem. It’s exactly why I’ve switched to a new primary app. It’s crazy how the developers disregard the voice of its customers.

I'm not sure about on iPhones but if you have an Android phone of any sorts you can go into your phone settings click on the app that you'd like to change the ringtone of and then change it to anything that you have saved on your phone file wise. You just can't do it through the Grindr app itself.

I would like to be able to change to any sound I would like to have.

All of a sudden I'm getting grinder notifications that are loud, long, and totally unappropriate. Just a little sound would be nice. This is now the loudest and longest sound I have on my phone and frequently it's going off. It's annoying. It would be nice to select our own notification sound. This totally sucks!
