Delivery & read receipt reliability improvements
Fix the message delivery status and read receipt bugs. The message status should update to "Delivered" once it has been delivered, and to "Read" once it's been opened.
The status of a sent message is supposed to change from Sent to Delivered if the recipient has the app open, but many times I’ve seen people online even hours or days later, and my message still shows as Sent, leading me to assume they haven’t got it. So I send another message, which led to one guy telling me I’m impatient. This bug, combined with Grindr often losing messages altogether, keeps us wondering whether guys have gotten our message or whether they replied to it but I didn’t get it. As a result, they might think you don’t want to talk to them anymore and block you, or you might assume they are ignoring you and block them.
All paid features (such as read receipts) should be reliable, and so should messaging in general. Delivery and read receipts should be 99.9% accurate. These problems have resulted in a lot of frustration and missed connections.

This is the worst bug ever. Users are blocking each other based on this bug. Communication is all we have in dating apps. If we can't rely on that we should stop using this app!

My issue is my first couple of messages are sent and read then the rest they cant see. They get notification of a message but they cant see them.

Oh wow. I've blocked so many people because the message just gets stuck on sent and they don't reply for ages so I just assume they've changed their mind and lost interest. I assumed there was something wrong with me :( This will definitely make me think twice about renewing my subscription. Actually, stuff that I'm just gonna cancel it. Pathetic.

Absolutely awful. I assume the money for software to make this feature accurate is more than they want to spend. I've had the same issue where I e been talking to someone and all of a sudden messages stop going through. Later they said they were on the while time waiting for response. Not to mention about 25% of people Inhear from are scammers or spammers

- Messages sometimes stuck on "sent" even if they were delivered.
- Messages sometimes stuck on "delivered" even if they were read.
- Messages sometimes get delivered but aren't being noticed.
- Pictures sometimes don't get delivered, but there's no indication of that.
- Profiles sometimes don't load on the other end, so it looks like you're messaging someone from an empty profile. -

Message delivery state just does not work. It's not worth getting a subscription for an app and functionality that doesn't work. Find something else.

Same problem. What's up with the flaky chat app? For a while it allowed me to talk discreetly to my friends, but now I look like a rude *****.
And WTF with the chat part "disconnected" all the time?

Yeah I still have this issue with Grindr Xtra. It's pretty annoying not knowing if your message actually got delivered because of this bug. I am pretty sure many of my messages are just not getting delivered. Based on the date of this post it looks like this is not a new problem. Pretty annoying for a paid service!

I checked with a friend who was sitting next to me. Both of us have that grinder extra. He opens the messages but still they appear to me as "sent"!!

It's 1/14/19 and 2/3 of my messages only say "sent" this apps messaging system is garbage. I tried emailing Grindr multiple times. Their "fix" to force quit the app is a joke.
