If users have met other users in person or cammed in someway and they are genuine, you should be able to mark those profiles as genuine, rather than having people using fake profiles or somebody elses pics.

You should re-word this suggestion as: "Allow scammers to fake their location in order to fool us". This is the dumbest idea I have seen posted here other than the morons who whine about people using the gender and pronoun fields to be funny. If someone decides to stalk me and use Grindr to track my location, they better be well armed because I will be very mean to them. Location should be turned on by default. Why? Because of scammers! In case something bad happens I also screenshot photos and profiles so I can identify people who did something bad to me. When you use a social app like this, privacy is important, but your security is your own responsibility, not Grindr's.

Gneiss seriously appealing to people who aren’t confident in their sexuality ???? Wrong app for that if what they truly need is coddling. Look else where. And I’d rather have them put in some work putting fake information then none at all. No info is such a cop out. If they want to be on a gay app , grow a pair.

Bad idea, they will just populate the fields with fake information. Never mind the draw back of no longer appealing to people who aren't confident in their sexuality.

I like the locator as it is. This prevents those posers from ever lying on where their real location is. Allowing mock locations will just add to the roster of lying and deceitful members in deceiving those who are really looking for hookups. So no to mock locations. It's not an issue of privacy, this will just be prone to be used in catfishing. Besides, the current locator only tells of the distance, and not the exact location, unless you give it to people you trust, which has now become the member's responsibility.

If people are worried about people knowing how far away they are, they can turn off their GPS location, no need for fake GPS. - Sean

Tired of seeing taps from people that are less than 5 miles away, but after looking at them the mileage changes to over 1000 miles away. Obvious scams that waste my time - Sean

This could be implemented by clearly disclosing that a mock location is a mock location (distance shown with a different color or with a small icon next to it...).
In this way:
1) The user using the mock location is protected. A potential harasser would know that the user is not at the specified distance, but they would never be able to know where the user actually is.
2) Other legitimate users are protected by potential scammers or harassers. Legitimate users would know that a specified distance is not the actual one and they could take that into consideration. -

A feature similar to the contact tracing systems created for Covid-19.
If a user tests positive for an STD, he should be able to tell the app. Then the app, based on random Bluetooth identifiers, could send an anonymous notification to the people that might have come in contact with the user.
Another possible implementation, much simpler, could be the ability to manually send an anonymous alert to selected users.
The issue with STDs is that people are usually embarrassed or scared to alert the people they hooked up with. Therefore one might not know that they have been infected and they would keep spreading the STD.
A feature like this would help users be responsible at informing other people of possible infections and would also encourage people to get tested.
