"Wouldn't it be nice..."
-- No, it's expected of a social app in 2016.. erm, 2017. Oh, 2018, really?... Its absence is just frustrating and i would have thought 'embarrassing' that this foundational chat infrastructure is not already in place.I have always focused much more on other gay apps, since i can lose app Grindr data at any time (stolen/broken/new phone, 2nd device, os reset, etc)

There should be an option to choose between local backup of your data and cloud backup

This would be nice, since I use my tablet more at home. We all live in a multi-device world.
Additionally when this feature is available, would be nice if the notifications and badges are synced, so I can read once on one device and the other devices will clear the notifications and badges.

All stored photos, saved phrases, etc need to be saved. This was done with Xtra customers in previous versions and needs to be restored.

Please make it so everyone can use it, not just xtra customers

I'm glad this is planned but how has it taken this long to realize this basic functionality of nearly every chat app should be incorporated?

@Billy: have you considered that couples use Grindr for threesomes? Or that sometimes one person uses multiple devices?

It definitely doesn't happen on Android. I have a switch program that transfers available photos and settings, and it couldn't find where in the filesystem the chats are stored.

Doesn't this happen already ?
I'm pretty sure when I changed iPhones and did backup restore everything was there.
It's only if you delete the app or sign out you loose messages -

Stop deleting pics and messages when someone removes the app off their phone. It sucks when you readd it and none of it is there anymore.
Also add a live chat feature like MeetMe has

So you basically meant “account synced messages”
Cause that’s the smart way to put it. How you had it, made it sound needy. I mean it’s not that bad unless you go throughout phones like they’re condoms -

Contacts and chats backup needed while changing devices.

Save the chat history even the app has been deleted for a certain period

No. Definitely. New phone is new life, let's burn all the old stuff. I need that catharsis from time to time

YES. this should've been a standard from the beginning (like scruff, disco etc.)
