Feature Suggestion – Option to Hide Online Status
Hi everyone,
I’ve been using Grindr for a while and really appreciate the updates, but I was wondering if there's a way to request a feature or if others feel the same. I think it would be useful to have an option to hide our online status or appear offline to certain users or in general. Sometimes users just want to browse quietly or take a break from chats without appearing rude. I checked the app settings but didn’t find anything related to this. The word “tr*nny” should not be allowed, seeing cis men using violent language/slurs to sexualize trans people is concerning
I feel as though allowing this slur is more harmful than empowering in this context. Grindr allows everyone of all gender identities to use such words that have been and still are used to dehumanize members of this vulnerable community. Sexualizing trans peoples’ existence as a whole is harmful in many ways and does lead to real life violence. I think this word is completely fine when used by a consenting trans person, but I do not want to see it, and I know most other trans people I’ve spoken to certainly do not either. I noticed a really nice way of genuinely verifying someone is actually allowing users to verify each other when they meet face-to-face. Of course (Grindr can add a redundancy to ensure these aren't bots by having them upload each others pics as proof).
Or have an ID verification system (allowing people to hide their age as usual).
And please, please, please, like Scruff doesn't allow more than six-month-old pics/videos, introduce something like that to encourage people to use Grindr cam to take their profile picture.

Your hide profile feature is fucking useless
This feature is either bugged or just doesn't work because I've "hidden" numerous profiles but they are still popping up on my grid. Can we just go back to the old block profile option that actually worked. the more you add to the app the worse you make it to use

Change lognin method
There should be an option to change to a password based login for accounts that have been set up using a gmail account. A lil more secure and data would be safe if I lose access to my gmail account.

Allowing blocking hiding doesn’t work it’s the worst tool that shit sucks

Discrete App Notification
The Discrete App Icon is a good feature, but even if I use that, the notifications still say "Grindr". So that defeats the purpose of discretion.
Also, it would be good if I could customise the notification sounds.
