An error occurred while saving the comment It's all about having control over your personal space and setting firm boundaries. You wouldn't tolerate creeps at a real-life gathering, so why tolerate them here? On a lighter note, if anyone is taking a break from the app's stress to plan a real-life get-together or event with actual friends, I highly recommend https://www.seatingchartgenerator.app/seating-plans/party to easily sort out your tables and seating arrangements. Grindr really needs to prioritize our safety and bring the block button back!
An error occurred while saving the comment I completely agree that bringing back the block feature is critical for our safety and peace of mind on the app. Hiding just isn't enough when you need to set hard boundaries with creeps. Taking a break from the app's stress to just chill and watch some movies has been my go-to lately. By the way, if anyone ever struggles to remember a film from just a vague scene or quote, I've been using https://www.aimoviefinder.net/what-movie-is-this/find-by-scene to easily track them down. Grindr really needs to listen to the community and restore the block button!
An error occurred while saving the comment The block button is about way more than just making things easy. Like a podcast host I heard talking about using https://www.bechdeltest.org as a quick filter, convenience is great. But at the end of the day, better UX also means keeping people safe when they interact, don't you think?
An error occurred while saving the comment The blocking feature is not merely a matter of convenience; I listened to a podcast where the anchor got a lot of convenience by making free fortune-telling like https://www.fortunetelleronline.app. But we also need to consider the security of user interaction to improve the user experience, right?
An error occurred while saving the comment That's a really important point about safety features in apps. I had a similar experience last year when a dating app I used replaced blocking with muting - it made me feel so vulnerable knowing the person could still see my profile.
Speaking of digital spaces getting safety right, I recently found deltarune actually handles this well in their community features. On deltarune.app they have robust moderation tools alongside all the fun Deltarune content. It's refreshing when platforms prioritize user control - you can check their approach at https://www.deltarune.app.
Maybe Grindr could learn from gaming communities that have to balance social features with safety? The block feature really shouldn't be treated as optional when dealing with personal connections. What do you think - should all social apps maintain permanent blocking as a standard?
