Suggested Feature: Verified Identity for All Users

I’d like to suggest that Grindr implement mandatory identity verification for every account. Many other platforms already use facial verification or ID checks to confirm that users are real people. A similar system on Grindr would significantly improve user safety.

Verified identities could help:

• Reduce fake and impersonation accounts.
• Prevent scammers and extortion attempts.
• Make it much harder for banned users to create new accounts.
• Better protect minors by helping verify users’ ages.
• Increase trust and confidence when people interact on the platform.

I recently encountered someone who attempted to extort me by threatening to post false accusations unless I paid them. I didn’t give in, but it made me realize how easily anonymous fake accounts can be used to harass and target people.

A verified-user system would make Grindr a safer place for everyone while preserving privacy through secure verification methods. I hope you’ll seriously consider making identity verification a core safety feature.
