Although I agree, there shouldn't be mock locations, I did want to just point out that the Grindr app will ALLWAYS show people CLOSER than Google maps; because grinder has locations as the bird flies and Google has locations via actual transportation Street distance.

But back to mock locations I might be okay with it but Maybe only if their real location is on there as if they are looking outside of their area which has already been done with traveling feature. LoL

As long as the user can be flagged as mocked and limit the areas they can mock in a day, it might not be a bad idea. Though i thought the travel feature helped with that.

Though I think mock locations are good for people living in rural areas, it can be abused by catfish, scammers, spammers, etc. I have experienced this personally. I think restrictions or limits need to be kept in mind... perhaps allow a person only to change locations a couple times a week or increase the number of profiles a free account can look up on a day. Or offer a wider variety of membership packages with certain features varying in these packages. Fake profiles are a HUGE problem in Grindr and my biggest complaint with this app.

Mock location is for stocking people don't do it

What are these comments about using Mock Locations to stalk people? That could only work if users can't change their location - forcing them to reveal where they are while using the app. Stalkers can just drive around your area to triangulate your location - they don't need Mock Locations - that's the whole concern.
You don't need to know someone's exact location to discuss what you're both into. But a stalker does need your location to know when you're at work, school, home (or away from home).
And if you deny Grindr your location permissions, they'll deny you access to the app. It's that simple. The grid is made up of all the guys right next to you.

Mock locations is dangerous option for people who are stalking other people, therefore should be banned. You can always deny location permissions to Grindr if your biggest concern is privacy.
