My friend (and no that’s not a euphemism for me) is still in the closet. Recently, we were discussing this, and he was talking about a situation where family members had outed other closeted people because they found the app or it popped up and so on. Whilst we should celebrate coming out in the community, people also have their reasons for being in the closet and this should be protected. I began thinking about the Deliveroo app, and how you can change the apps appearance if you subscribe to their premium feature. What if, in a similar vein, there was an ‘in the closet’ slider option in the account settings, you could call it ‘GrINder’ or whatever. When selected, it allows you to change the app picture and name to one of the options presented, thereby increasing the privacy from onlookers. I’m a straight male, and unfamiliar with grindr, just trying to help a brother out, but it seems to me that it’d be a feature worth having. I’m not a software engineer either though, so I don’t know about feasibility.
