Stricter verification
I would like for Grindr to implement stricter verification for new and existing users in an effort to combat underage individuals posing as adults, bots, etc. I've heard a number of stories of men who have chatted with individuals who they thought were of legal age, only to find out upon meeting them that they're some horny teen. I'm proposing the implementation of verification measures such as ID (Government issued, driver's license, passport, etc), bank account, submitting a facial selfie with a piece of paper visible displaying a verification code, email verification, as well as changing the age requirements to make it so users must be 21 or older to join Grindr. If this is implemented, I'm hoping this sparks a new trend across the internet where sites implement strict verification measurements in an effort to keep minors off the internet.
I'd also like for all new and existing profiles be required to have face pictures of the user with a verification code displayed, with failure to do so resulting in immediate account termination. It should also be a requirement for both new and existing members to fill out their profiles as well

By allowing some of the “Xtra,” features that you charge a tremendous amount of money for just isn’t right. We should all have the right to show if we’re online or not as wel as have more blocks so we don’t get harassed constantly. There’s also so many scammers that seek to get our money and become more clever by the day. Those Xtra features could prevent someone from losing hundreds to even thousands of dokk

Came here to suggest the same thing. I have a particular user that seems to enjoy pretending to be different people and harassing me. It doesn't do any good to block him because he just creates a new profile (Grindr really should limit the number of profiles a user is able to make, like Scruff does). In addition, I use an iPhone, so it doesn't show the blue sparkle icon indicating that it is a new profile (this icon only shows on Android for some reason). Showing "member since" would help us greatly identify people like these, and fake profiles since Grindr doesn't seem to be addressing this other ways.

Sorry, but you cannot fix age at 21, as the legal age (or age of consent) varies according to State/Country local laws.

There are tons of LGBTQ folks who struggle with poverty. That is nothing new. Therefore, many younger gays don’t have working cell phones. Stop excluding them and making things EVEN harder. Find a way to verify people WITHOUT phone numbers. Make it just a little bit easier on some of us. Please.

I'm 16 and I'd love to meet new people/teenagers from the LGBTQ+ community, but it's really hard to find someone irl. You can use some kind of verification to check if the user is 16+ / 18-. It would help A LOT of teenagers like me and reduce the fake 18+ accounts created by minors (18-). Thanks if you'll see this ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜.

Nothing is worse than being catphished on the app. I have used other dating platforms where I would have to verify the photo I’m using is actually me. It’s just nice to know I’m not putting in all that work just for someone to be fake.

Also live verification of face like what tinder does with blue check mark by the profile.

The app should make a verification to make sure that person using is real, not using fake photos. Like facial recognition, or body type, for that ones who doesn’t want to put face photos.

Verify everyone with one only should be able to make one account per IP address. Too many people making more than one p profile and end up being catfish or fake.

Implement a FREE app called Yoti which will ELIMINATE, CATFISH, MINORS spammers and bots by 100%. 100% that’s good odds. Each individual is in control what information like their age, Birthdate, Name is voluntarily shared. Not mandatory but let’s say you are meeting up you each can scan a QR code on each other’s phone which will verify that is the person You were chatting with. This is done without sharing any personal information, (unless you want to share) and Yoti uses better encryption methods than your own bank does. It’s a no brainer.
