Especially if you are in a rural area. None of the other apps have this problem. Why is Grindr so behind? Not only is it annoying getting taps and messages from fake profiles or getting tons of views from 700+ miles away, guys are starting to block innocent/legitimate users, thinking they were one of the fake ones. I suspect this could also be stopping people from upgrading to XTRA or Unlimited. Why would we want to pay to see more fake profiles?

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedNot sure I really understand this suggestion. Users are shown in order by distance...so once you see someone is X miles away, you know everyone shown after them in the grid is farther away.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedCame here to suggest the same thing. I have a particular user that seems to enjoy pretending to be different people and harassing me. It doesn't do any good to block him because he just creates a new profile (Grindr really should limit the number of profiles a user is able to make, like Scruff does). In addition, I use an iPhone, so it doesn't show the blue sparkle icon indicating that it is a new profile (this icon only shows on Android for some reason). Showing "member since" would help us greatly identify people like these, and fake profiles since Grindr doesn't seem to be addressing this other ways.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI’ve always thought it would be cool to have some sort of reverse filter. Say I prefer guys 21-40. Don’t just show me those guys, but prevent guys outside of this range from seeing me too. I suppose this could be a bit problematic for 40yo guys that turn 41...do they just disappear even though I may be interested or talking to them?
Seriously, how difficult can this be? For starters, tighten up your sign-up process. You ask for an email, but never actually follow through to have the user verify it. I know some guys use this trick by using a non-existent email address to create multiple profiles. I imagine the fake profiles and spammers are doing the same.
