Please restore ethnicity filter
I am Asian, and I would like to have the ethnicity filter option back. As a "minority", I don't think the filter option is racist. It offers me choices. Sometimes I want to search for Asians for example,, and if there is this option, it will make my search much easier to find.

In this crazy time of everyone suddenly getting on the BLM bandwagon, I just can’t believe Grindr have followed and taken out the ethnicity preference away. I’m not being racist, I actually prefer black guys, but now I have to trawl through profiles to even find one to chat with!!
Please put this option back on -

Yeah please bring back the ethnicity filter. How can it be rasist to have preferences? I'm black, I'm not into blacks, not at all. I know that there are people which are not into blacks and that's fine to me. Why not? I mean we are humans everyone has another taste in that world. When you want to order pizza, you'll set your filter for italian food. Not American, not Asian, not African or something except italian. Again. Please bring back the filter.
Thanks in advance and for understanding. -

The main reason I chose to upgrade was for this filter. I live in an area that has very little diversity and would prefer to have a choice to be able to filter for my personal preferences.
I get why you did it and applaud trying to make a change for social injustices but this is not at all a social injustice. It’s a preference and if their are people that want to take it to that level then they should 100% be reported but to take away ones ability to choose what ethnicity they are aloud to see is counter productive. I’ll just take my personal experience as one example but I live in an area of 95% Caucasians so I feel if I want to meet anyone that’s not Caucasian then I either have to drive somewhere else or just deal with it.
Please make a change but until then I will be canceling my subscription since it is now useless for me since that was 90% the reason I purchased it each month

I’m Caucasian, but love Latin, Mediterranean, Arab, Indian, Asian guys....I have friends of every ethnicity/minority. I know who physically stimulates me for dating and/or hookups. Bring back the filter, otherwise remove ethnicity option from profiles to begin with.

I’m an asian and used the ethnicity feature to find the other asians and another minority gays communities. Where I live, they are very limited to none of the space or events that minority gays can safely gather or meet. I find the feature helpful to the minority person like myself. Please kindly bring back the ethnicity filter. Thank you

It was incredibly stupid of Grindr to remove the Ethnicity filter, this was a big reason why I paid for XTRA in the first place. To the people who don't like the ethnicity filter DON'T HAVE TO USE IT!

Exactly. Removal of this filter makes the claim that those with a preference are racists. As ethnicity is not a mandatory field to fill out to activate a users profile and there was a choice for no preference listed in the options of profiles listed. Those that don’t have a preference were already able to select guys who didn’t think listing their ethnicity would be valuable for a potential partner to be informed of.

In the name of Black Lives Matter, something I completely and fully support and stand for, Grindr made its app a “White Lives Matter Only” app by removing the ethnicity filter. It completely blows my mind. With Grindrs decision Grindr does not fight racism but endorses it by making ethnicities other then white invisible and Grindr a platform where only white peoples profiles matter while all other ethnicities no longer matter. Great job, Grindr, really well done. And just in case: this last sentence is meant sarcastically.

While I applaud the long needed focus on removing cultural bias toward any ethnicity, my preference for someone to date regarding ethnicity is in the same category as my preference for age and body type. It is simply a ****** attraction reference akin to my attraction to men vs women. I would suggest the removal of ethnicity filters is a step too far. Any respectful thoughts would be appreciated.

I use to have this option for iOS, but for some reason I do not have it on the computer and current version. Any thoughts on how to rectify the situation?

Diversity is beautiful, so are all the people in this world. It was great to easily find people you’re into.
People not comfortable with this just should not reference their ethnicity.
Same for the age, size, weight, that could be considered in this case as discrimination. -

I PAY I SAY. BRING BACK ETHNICITY FILTER! I pay a lot of money for Grindr XTRA for features where I can CHOOSE who I would like and prefer to chat too. If Grindr wants to take features away I demand to pay less money for XTRA because I am not getting what I paid for, like being able to use that one specific filter. They can't just take features away and expect me to still pay for stuff I can't use anymore! I am losing lots of great Grindr friends because everyone is unsubscribing from Grindr XTRA because of this move from Grindr.

I agree. We should not be forced to see what majority users. That's what the filter option is for

You guys made a blunder! You removed ethnicity because of the recent events and that’s not OK 🛎😡🤬 You are looking at it from the wrong perspective, we most users are certainly not looking at it under a racist angle but as a preference! I’m from a Mediterranean ethnicity and I’m into black guys (go black never turn back 🍆🤣) there is no way whities can turn me on! If we follow your logic, why don’t you remove the age, height, weight... this could also be considered as discrimination against short, tall, fat, old guys... I think it’s about time to start looking for a new app, morons!
