Delivery & read receipt reliability improvements
Fix the message delivery status and read receipt bugs. The message status should update to "Delivered" once it has been delivered, and to "Read" once it's been opened.
The status of a sent message is supposed to change from Sent to Delivered if the recipient has the app open, but many times I’ve seen people online even hours or days later, and my message still shows as Sent, leading me to assume they haven’t got it. So I send another message, which led to one guy telling me I’m impatient. This bug, combined with Grindr often losing messages altogether, keeps us wondering whether guys have gotten our message or whether they replied to it but I didn’t get it. As a result, they might think you don’t want to talk to them anymore and block you, or you might assume they are ignoring you and block them.
All paid features (such as read receipts) should be reliable, and so should messaging in general. Delivery and read receipts should be 99.9% accurate. These problems have resulted in a lot of frustration and missed connections.

Send the messages and make sure they send so everybody knows if they get their own messages or not

I have this same issue. I have unlimited, and multiple times I try to have a conversation with someone and the message I send to them is time stamped, but remains at sent. Never delivered, never read.

I have unlimited, but all message that i send simple have a time stamp
NEVER appears the word "sent", "delivered" or "read"
What does this mean? And why is it not functioning as advertised? Especially given the high cost of this supposed feature!!!!! -

Use the money you get from the users to improve the app. Is a disaster! The messages (almost 90%) are never sent. I wish I wouldn't have payed for this ****

They probably do this on purpose to keep you addicted. They let you message a guy a few times and then block messages. If you ever met anyone good, you'd stop using the app. They don't want that. Grindr is Chinese owned, and they don't like gays. They have even been firing gays within the company and replacing them with anti-gay straights. What needs to be done is that they need to be sued and fined on a grand scale, and shut down.

I am paying for this app and the most central feature of the App does not work properly. Stop implementing new features and fix existing ones or I will stop paying for it and encourage others to do so as well. That is one of the most annoying persisting bugs in an app that I have ever seen and even completely free apps do messengers better than you. And it is not like grindr is still completely without competition, especially in Germany there is a valid and working second option, that even costs less than grindr in the payed plan and has more features in the free one.

In the last week, the program freezes almost every time I stop using the program and then come back. Sometimes the only way to unfreeze it is to delete the app and then reinstall. Sometimes I can logout and then log back in, but even that is inconsistent. If I have to keep doing this several times a day I will delete and never come back. Its just not worth the agrivation.

yes, I'm dealing with this at the moment. It's literally taken over 7 months and they are now just ignoring messages. This is one of the most disgusting, pathetic companies that you can imagine. They are literally representing this community in a disgusting, superficial way.

We're one month later now and it's still the same for me with some guys. They go online again but the messages stay "sent" instead of delivered

This creates a good opportunity to develop a new app that will replace Grindr. This bug is the only thing they should fix. It destroyed so many potential conversations and so many are still not aware of it.

People send me messages and I don’t get them. And they think I ignored them. Why is it still happening?

This really is as bad as it gets for a chatting app - that can't seem to deliver the messages across consistently.
And the fact this has been going on since forever and we're all still using the app - actually says more about us than about it.
Seriously though, Grindr team - If this feature isn't working, cut it out. It's not doing us any good when it's not working. It's only causes unfortunate situations.
At the very least, do a better job clarifying why this is happening (or how often it happens) so we have *some* idea how to work around it.
