Delivery & read receipt reliability improvements
Fix the message delivery status and read receipt bugs. The message status should update to "Delivered" once it has been delivered, and to "Read" once it's been opened.
The status of a sent message is supposed to change from Sent to Delivered if the recipient has the app open, but many times I’ve seen people online even hours or days later, and my message still shows as Sent, leading me to assume they haven’t got it. So I send another message, which led to one guy telling me I’m impatient. This bug, combined with Grindr often losing messages altogether, keeps us wondering whether guys have gotten our message or whether they replied to it but I didn’t get it. As a result, they might think you don’t want to talk to them anymore and block you, or you might assume they are ignoring you and block them.
All paid features (such as read receipts) should be reliable, and so should messaging in general. Delivery and read receipts should be 99.9% accurate. These problems have resulted in a lot of frustration and missed connections.

I just cannot see how much more basic can you get : one of, if not THE app's primary (and most basic!) functions is TO CHAT - yet messages don't go through!!!

Read and sent receipts are unreliable (as is messaging in general), often not showing a message as "read" or "delivered" even when it was. Delivery and delivery/read receipts should be 99.9% accurate.

Messages tend to say sent and not delivered .
When this happens it is common that you don’t receive messages from those you have sent them to.
Please could this glitch be fixed?
Also a message read option would be good so that if you have been left on read you don’t keep messaging and making a fool of yourself :) -

My messages are LITTERLY not sending or receiving anymore . I had 3 guys in one day screenshot our convo and my message didn’t send . I then have guys txt me days later and ask did I not get there message. Iv decided to delete my app . Never paying for it again

Not really a feature but can you please fix your messages issue. They either don’t send or when people have messaged me they never come through and it’s unbelievable annoying especially when I’m paying for Xtra...seriously what is the actual point of me doing that if you don’t bother to give us basic messages

Create a patch to fix the messaging system so messages aren't stuck on sent for a day because that kind of delayed system can cause miscommunication

I have the same problem, with almost every conversation. After a few messages are exchanged, mine just sit there on "sent" and don't go through. Whoever I'm talking to thinks I've dropped the conversation. It's incredibly frustrating. Force-quitting and relaunching the app doesn't help. Sometimes if I receive a message it will start working again for a bit.
